Goemon then picks up with
narration, saying he doesn’t fail at all now. In fact he says on a whole
new level where he always succeeds no matter how many times he does it.
He’s different from how he was before, so what is it that he’s missing?
How does he make the crowds laugh like he did back then?
Flashback
then brings back up the conversation Goemon had with the troupe leader
of the theater he worked at, who phrases things like he’s giving Goemon
time off to go figure out what he’s missing and cool his head. Goemon
insists that his acting as Goemon is perfect and asks what’s wrong with
it. The boss tells him to figure it out himself and not to come back
before then.
Goemon then picks back up with
the present with him thinking he could have just been told the answer,
asking whether his old man friend agrees. And outside, the host
announces the start of the final round of the dodgeball game. Goemon is
still spacing out so someone tries to take him out for an easy point.
You
call out to him, but Goemon is still thinking about what he told you
about being in a small theater with an old man and wishing it could go
on forever. He starts saying he’s no good, and you try to snap him out
of it. Bathym teases him for losing focus in a battleground, Garm says
he’ll go as hard as he can, and Ikutoshi resolves to eliminate Goemon
from the game if he won’t get serious.
As
the shots are thrown at Goemon, someone comes to intervene out of
irritation with Goemon being so out of it especially while being
‘Goemon.’ This turns out to be Jiraiya, who advises Goemon that if he
wants to be Goemon’s successor he should laugh things off with bantering
performances.
More balls are fired at
Goemon, but this time he’s cleared his head and is now paying attention,
and his movements surprise you with how much they’re like street
performance moves. He thinks nothing of his role or of Ishikawa Goemon
at the moment. Instead he thinks of how he couldn’t pull off his acts
but had to go through with them anyways like he did back then. He thinks
only of how he wanted to entertain people.
You
start laughing hard and clapping for Goemon. He reacts in surprise as
he remembers that one guy from back then, then has a breakthrough seeing
you enjoying yourself. In his heart, something shivers. Goemon starts
talking about his realization about how fun his past was back at that
theater.
It was why he tried so hard and
wanted to do better. It wasn’t that he wanted to get better at
performing for its own sake. He then proclaims that he understands a
little bit about what he was told to figure out about what he should do.
Then he says he’ll bring out the big guns and activates his NP. You are
shocked by him stripping down to his fundoshi or by his quick clothes
change.
Ikutoshi says he’s going to see for
himself whether Goemon is going all out as he activates his own CS and
starts attacking him. Goemon is surprised about him turning his body
into an adult, which Ikutoshi describes as his full strength and pride
as a pro. Goemon gets even more motivated and says he can’t back down as
an actor. As Goemon’s big specialty is stealing he goes around yoinking
the balls from the other players.
Goemon
also says handling balls is his specialty, then summons a body double to
put one of the balls on top of Ikutoshi’s head. One is also apparently
put on Garm’s head, and Goemon moves in a way to push the balls down
that gets the crowd cheering. The host then says Ikutoshi and Garm have
lost the game.
Garm is disappointed of
course since he wants to play more. Arslan notes that Goemon looks
different, like he’s having fun. Zabaniya agrees and says he seems to
have cleared something up. Bathym is a bit impressed and says he’s
moving way differently now. However, performing for an audience is also
his thing too, so he’s not going to sit idly by.
Bathym
shows off for the audience as he says it’s time to settle things, but
he’s sure he’ll win. Goemon challenges him to bring it and throws a
ball. Bathym catches it and tries to kick Goemon, but the ball he caught
turns out to be a transformed Goemon who lifts the spell at that point
to knock him out with a ball throw.
Bathym
is taken by surprise, and Goemon boasts about his abilities with youkai
transformation magic and ninja body double. Jiraiya picks up the ball
Bathym was hit with and says he has something to say to Goemon. He says
he understands Goemon isn’t really Goemon, but looking at him makes his
blood boil. As such, he really is his rival, so he can’t let himself
lose as a thief and ninja.
Goemon is
surprised into silence at this, and Jiraiya says that’s all he wanted to
say. Goemon laughs and says that’s lucky as an actor. He takes a look
around, then says that while he’s picked up a nuisance of a legacy, he’s
gonna draw it out and make things exciting. As a high class actor,
that’s one of the answers he’s come to. He recognizes Jiraiya as a rival
too.
Jiraiya makes a dramatic entrance
speech, so Goemon responds in kind. A moment of silence passes as sparks
fly between the two, then Goemon calls for the battle to start as the
game follows suit. The story continues afterwards.
After
the battle, things tune in midway as Goemon readies himself against
Jiraiya by summoning a double. Narration describes it as a battle
between two ninjas using everything they have. Eventually, the host
calls game. Final result, the winner is you.
You
point out you didn’t do anything and call it good luck. Ikutoshi says
Jiraiya and Goemon knocked each other out of the game, which left you
standing at the end. Goemon laughs it off since the crowd enjoyed it,
but then gets the feeling he’s forgotten something.
Andvari
comes over and thanks you guys for your work. You freak out since your
break should have ended long ago or try to hide behind Goemon. Goemon
tries to make an excuse, but Andvari doesn’t see anything wrong and asks
how the game was. Jiraiya says it wasn’t particularly dangerous and was
held fairly. You ask what’s going on and whether your guys’ slacking
off was noticed.
Jiraiya slides over to
tell you to shut up so he can smooth things over. Just sit there and
watch. Andvari then talks to the host, who asks him who he is. Andvari
introduces himself, so the host starts apologizing thinking that Andvari
came to complain about the unofficial game event. He didn’t expect it
to turn out like it did.
Andvari says it
was a bother as the owner, but he didn’t come to reprimand the guy. He
actually came to suggest officially making it part of the activities if
it’s going to be so lively, which is an idea Jiraiya suggested to him.
Jiraiya confirms that, and Andvari says some of his workers joined in to
check it out. Now that it’s done he calls it a success.
You
either exclaim that’s what was happening and ask if playing in the game
turned into work. The host bot decides to agree to the idea, so Andvari
asks about having meetings later on about the game. Then he talks to
himself about how the beach sports area will be doing well in the
foreseeable future. Andvari says you guys can go now and thanks Bathym
and the others too.
Bathym waves it off and
says he had fun too. You ask if Bathym and the Berserkers were all in
on it, so Kamui confirms it. When he invited them all he also told them
you would be here. Garm says he came because he wanted to play with you.
Ikutoshi compliments Goemon for the match and says he’ll challenge him
again. Kagutsuchi wants to join in too and decides to run some more for
now. Goemon says he’ll accept all challenges.
Arslan
expresses some surprise that you won the whole thing and compliments
Goemon’s performance, even if he did lose. Goemon thanks him and starts
talking about coming here because of his being giving leave because the
leader said he couldn’t act as Goemon. He’s been thinking about it the
whole time but now has some idea what he meant.
Goemon
talks more about losing sight of his original goals, which was to make
the audience have fun. He’s a bit embarrassed about how he focused only
on how he was acting as Goemon correctly. As he wonders why he forgot,
Bathym says his performance was great so he should be fine. He also
considers calling Goemon his rival too.
Goemon
says it’s thanks to everyone that he realized something, though giving
thanks might never be enough. Andvari says that’s nice and asks if he’s
going back to that kabuki theater right away. He decides he’s going to
wait on it for now and asks if he can keep working there a bit longer.
Andvari
says yes, and Goemon says he can take care of anything. Andvari makes a
brief note of that before saying he has to go for a bit, then asks
everyone to keep it up. After he walks off, Goemon reminds you that
he’ll keep his promise. He’ll be staying here until the limestone cave
tour is done with.
On another note there’s
some other question that’s come to his mind when he’s noticed that he
isn’t Ishikawa Goemon. He wants to know why he ended up with Goemon’s
kettle, as he figures knowing will help with acting the part. You both
reexchange greetings as Goemon smiles.
Elsewhere
someone is lamenting how sad it is to be misunderstood. That someone is
a person who looks just like Andvari as they talk about how people
don’t know the meaning of making money or the true nature of stealing.
In which case they must teach people what those truths are. On a side
note this person speaks much more formally and old school compared to
Andvari’s more casual modern speech style.
Andvari comes in to greet the figure and notes they seem to be making a fuss as he calls them Alberich. And so the episode ends.
