Seaside Fashionista Episode 1 Part 1

Title card pops up right away, and this episode is called something along the lines of It’s About Natural Divisions. Fragments. Parts. Something like that.

Camera then tunes back in to the present as a certain particular mood is going around. It’s described as less like a festive mood and more a sort of hungry mood that comes with food related events. It’s calm and clear, yet there is a moderate undercurrent of passion underneath it all. People are going around here and there visiting all the branch stores of certain brands, and Tsathoggua is surprised at how busy the whole place is.

Arachne says that’s how it should be. It’s a special day for those who engage in dressing up, so by that metric there ought to be even more people coming. Tsathoggua says it does seem like people are having fun, and that he does sense this feeling of elegance. You decide to ask what kind of event the Tokyo Mode Collection even is.

Tsathoggua doesn’t really know the details, so he punts it to Arachne. She’s a bit surprised he doesn’t know given that he is a majority shareholder and all. He responds that he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know, and that his slime minions take care of everything.

Arachne sighs and says she’ll tell you about it before the store opens. Tsathoggua points out that she seems happy even if she’s acting inconvenienced, so she protests that she’s talking about the stage of her dreams so of course she’d be.

Exposition time! The Tokyo Mode Collection is a major fashion festival that happens in Tokyo. Every year it happens once or twice, and there are two aspects to it. The first one is to spread the latest things in the fashion world to everyone around. At the last day of the event they’ll host a fashion show gala on a big stage set up for it. It’s where the big name designers show off their abilities and fashion sense.

You either comment on the people wanting to join in on that opening up a store and such, or ask what the other part of things is. Arachne says that other part is about getting new customers through their stores. Whatever is in vogue sells quickest for famous brands in their branch stores, so the store clerks there hype themselves up for those days. Arachne goes on to compare the event to a microcosm of the fashion world, then a war zone.

Arachne stops there to ask if you understood what she talked about. She also brings up the deal she made with Gyumao about making sales and how she can get into the fashion show if she succeeds. She then says she’ll be expecting you guys to help her get there. You say you will and tell Tsathoggua he should work hard too.

Tsathoggua is surprised at how motivated you are and says he’ll try. Arachne figures he’ll perk up when you guys go see her shop. When the crowd thins a bit, you guys head on over. Arachne then proudly points out her establishment. In the center of it are mannequins dressed up boldly...in what narration questions is even clothing.

Tsathoggua can’t wrap his brain around what he’s seeing and struggles to come up with words to say. You are either amazed or baffled yourself. Arachne assumes you guys are speechless at how cutting edge her fashion is and takes it in stride. Tsathoggua finally pulls himself together enough to wonder if it’s okay to ask Arachne something. She says it is because she doesn’t expect anyone to grasp her work right away.

Tsathoggua asks why there’s seaweed draped on one of the mannequin’s heads. He also asks she’s discovered some new variant of psychedelic kelp or something. Arachne insists that neither of those things are on there. When asked what *is* on the thing, she says it’s a party dress and wonders if it’s just too cutting edge for him to handle.

Arachne turns to you and asks if you understand her genius. You either point out that one of them is a shoulder mounted gun, one of the skirts looks more like a piece of armor, or there’s something hurting your eyes with all the primary colors used in it.

In A, Arachne says it’s meant to emphasize shoulder lines and is a punk design along with something I don’t understand. She calls it the Super Attack Blaster Shoulder Pad. In B she tells you the armor on the skirt is actually a heat sink, for all your summer fashion needs! In C, she says it’s for making yourself stand out no matter how far or dark and calls it the Vivid Sparkling Shower Pattern. She even suggests getting one for yourself and someone you like.

In any case Tsathoggua says it’s too cutting edge and that it surprises even him, an ex-ruler. He suggests she do something more mass market, something more for the general public, or at least something more oriented for him. She’s surprised by his reaction in turn and insists her most eye catching designs will appeal to the masses.

Tsathoggua says he thinks it’ll be too eccentric to work. It’d still be problematic if there were more normal things, but he figures it’ll be sorta okay then. Arachne then leads you guys to another part of the shop that doesn’t look as flashy, but there are more comprehensible clothes there. The posed mannequin in the showcase is wearing some pretty gorgeous things.

Tsathoggua likes those clothes and says they look shiny and sturdy. In a JRPG they’d be the sort of things sold as the strongest equipment or be the sort of things nobility or castle dwellers would wear. Arachne is flattered by that and says it’s going for the low low price of 25 million coins.

You speak up to either ask if there’s any casual clothes, say that’s out of the price range for normal people, or be shocked at some strings you see. Going C, she’s surprised at how discerning your eyes are and says it’s a swimsuit she came up with. She’s sure you’ll get all the attention if you wear it to the beach, and if you like, she suggests you go wear it while you act as a sales clerk.

In any case, Arachne decides to end the conversation there and says there’s still a lot of things to do before the shop opens. She’ll direct you guys while get the work done, and she also asks you guys to check things like the materials and costs of products. That part goes along smoothly, and Tsathoggua comments that even normal people can tell the work and materials are top notch, though even he balks at the price of things.

Time skips to five minutes before opening. Arachne thanks you two for your work and says it’s all about selling things after this. She thinks it’s dull in general to be on the floor selling too, but she does say doing it on occasion would be a good experience. Then it’s time for the shop to open as the event starts in earnest.

Time skips again to about two hours later, and Arachne is baffled that there hasn’t been a single thing sold so far. She’s so shocked by this outcome that she falls prostrate on the floor. Tsathoggua says people have come in, but it seems like they’re just there on a whim or out looking for scares.

Tsathoggua tries to cheer Arachne up by saying she’ll definitely sell something if one of her regulars come by. She flinches at that and admits that she can’t count on the chance of it happening. They aren’t the type to show up at public events like this, so maybe it was a miscalculation on her part to put the clothes she did on her center display.

You are either surprised that she actually sold stuff like that or more neutrally comment that there are all kinds of tastes in clothes. Arachne talks about the deal she made with Gyumao and how it’s about the in-store sales. She’s sure she’ll be fine if she manages to make just one sale. Tsathoggua asks if that’s really the case and says it’s a really long shot to pull off.

Arachne then turns to you and asks if there’s been any reaction to the pic of Tsathoggua and his suit you’ve posted to social media. You say it’s been getting a lot of likes, it’s been spreading around and that your friends have been commenting on it.

She’s relieved to hear that, then blusters about how that was so totally going to happen. Arachne however can’t help but start asking desperately if there’s anyone among all the people who’ve seen the pic coming over who will want her clothes. You decide to recheck your post, and you see several replies about groups who are coming.

Scene changes over to Yoyogi at the club rooms for the sports. Ashigara yells about fashion, which startles Durga as she asks him not to do that. Kyuuma initially thinks Ashigara was sneezing before thinking it’s pretty strange for a sneeze. Wakan Tanka asks Ashigara what’s up, so he shows everyone the Tsathoggua pic.

Durga is impressed and thinks Tsathoggua is cool. Kyuuma says he looks like a model from somewhere. Wakan notices you’re the poster and says he can feel the sense of familiarity coming from it. Ashigara tells them that you’re at the Tokyo Mode Whatever and wonders if you’ll pick something cool out for him too.

Kyuuma is surprised and says he figured Ashigara would hate fashion, going so far as to guess that he’d slap people around for being flirty. He quickly denies this and says he has an interest in being fashionable too. Kyuuma then figures Ashigara is like that so long as he isn’t left alone by people around him.

Durga says she wants to see him dressed up, and Kyuuma says that since they’re busy with sports they tend to not be involved with fashion, though there is the exceptionally rare case like Wakan. Wakan for his part thinks about being popular with people and says he feels it’s more important to like everyone. And if everyone says they like him, that’d be just swell. Ashigara is off to the side being vexed that Wakan can say that so casually.

Gunzou and Daisuke come back around this point with drinks for everyone, and Gunzou asks what’s going on. Daisuke’s first thought is that Ashigara did something again, who is shocked by this assumption and tells them he’s already sent the pic to them to look at if they haven’t.

Gunzou turns out to have already seen it, and Mineaki and Avarga come by. Mineaki says talking is fine and all, but checks if they’ve done their assignments yet. Avarga asks the same thing saying they shouldn’t slack off on practice. Durga answers that they have, which Mineaki approves of. He says they should get ready to go home after they’re done with their drinks.

Gunzou asks the teachers if they know about the fashion event too. Mineaki asks if they’re interested in fashion and mentions he was thinking of going to it soon. Kyuuma expresses surprise and says he thinks of him as always in his lab coat. Mineaki says he does wear it all the time at work, but he dresses up more when he’s off the clock. Avarga is going too, so Mineaki asks what he thinks of taking everyone along.

Avarga says he’s interested in what urban outfits are like, so Daisuke says he wants to come along because his brother friend is over there running a store. Ashigara takes the opportunity to ask about having everyone go since the idea is out there and all. He tries to type a message and ends up having to ask Gunzou about how to type an exclamation mark. Then he sends you a tweet about coming over.

Scene shifts again to Daikanyama to an office there. Arslan complains about ring tired of stamping papers, and the dark angel mob leader tells him he hasn’t even been at it for an hour yet. Arslan tries to excuse himself by saying it’s been a while since he did admin work and that he needs a break. The angel asks him to wait until after everything is done before he does so.

Gabriel walks in and greets them, saying she brought tea and cake and suggesting a break soon. Arslan jumps at the chance and suggests taking a walk outside, but she cuts him off and says he’s liable to disappear if they take their eyes off him. Zabaniya walks in next with even more papers for Arslan to stamp, and Maria comes in after offering to help while prompting Arslan to get back to work.

Arslan starts asking Maria if the school really needs him. She says of course it does. Since Jacob is out, he and she are both there to serve in his place as guides. Plus with him there the rest of the guild feels safer.

Arslan then starts talking about the school and how the people there stand out individually, help people, and convey the form love takes. If he goes and the peace crumbles, did it really mean anything then? He talks about how happiness is something to be shared, and whether it’s ideal for people to be ‘pillars’ themselves and support each other.

Maria is a bit put off by the topic, so Arslan says he’ll also spill what he’s really thinking: he wants to enjoy the summer with everyone too. He wants to go on a journey to nowhere in particular! He wants to go to the beach, go to the mountains, go oil wrestling!

Zabaniya says that’s all very nice but asks Arslan to stop kicking around and whining. Maria says it is about that time of the year for summer vacation and that it might not be a bad idea to go out. Gabriel then suggests going to the fashion event as she shows Tsathoggua’s suit pic to everyone.

Gabriel thinks the pic is cute and says you were the one to post it. The pic is currently the biggest trending thing at the moment. Arslan is impressed and says the whiteness of it perfectly matches with the color of Tsathoggua’s fur. It’s a pretty well made suit.

Gabriel says her cuteness sensor is reacting, then asks if everyone will go with her to go check out the clothes at the event. Maria agrees to go, and Arslan comments on how different it is for a summer thing but he’s willing to go too. Arslan tells Zabaniya to come too, who agrees and says he’ll be there as his guard. Arslan then has to clarify that he’s inviting him to go pick something new to wear.

Zabaniya is surprised by this, but Gabriel thinks it’s a good idea. He tries to protest, but Maria tries to convince by talking about how it can lead to him discovering a new side of himself. She and Arslan talk about variety being good and invite him along. Gabriel adds that she wants to see him in something different.

Zabaniya caves and agrees to go. As the other three cheer, the angel mob sighs and asks Arslan to finish his work before going. The gang is gone before he even finishes getting it all out. Gabriel sends you a tweet too about the Missionaries coming over, and the episode part ends there.
