Kagutsuchi is running and keeping a
marching chant up, which makes him radiate more heat that in turn
bothers Ikutoshi. Ikutoshi puts that thought aside for a sec to suggest
he take it easy because of the heat thing, but Kagutsuchi asks him to
not worry about him and continue running. Ikutoshi then says he runs
based on his own decisions and Kagutsuchi has no bearing on that.
Kagutsuchi
says he believes Ikutoshi is encouraging him to go at the level he can
handle, so he thanks him and says he’ll keep at it. Ikutoshi however is
baffled by this turn of events and decides he doesn’t care anymore. You
greet the two and can compliment them on their swimsuits if you want.
Ikutoshi
takes note of your presence and figures Goemon is the guy next to you.
He thinks Goemon isn’t particularly strong but greets him. You
apparently ask what they’re doing so he explains they’re leg training by
running around the beach as you can see. Kagutsuchi adds that Ikutoshi
brought him along. He never thought it would happen so he’s happy it
did.
Ikutoshi objects to the way Kagutsuchi
explained things since it sounded like he was doing something nice for
him. That said, he doesn’t argue that hard against it. He then asks why
you’re here. You get at most two words out before Ikutoshi asks if you
came to participate in That Thing, by which he means a beach dodgeball
tournament for app users only.
Since you
ask about it, Ikutoshi asks about you not knowing if it but says it is
unusual with the app being open for use during the game. It was
originally just going to be a small group game but word got around the
net really fast and here we are. The scope changed and now there’s
rumors of tough guys entering.
Goemon
speaks up to ask what dodgeball is, so Kagutsuchi explains and describes
it as a team combat sport that uses a ball. Ikutoshi says the
tournament is going to be an individual affair though. On that note he
challenges you to join and taunts you about staying. Kagutsuchi says
that if you guys enter he wants to join too.
You
try to pass on it and say your break is about over. Goemon agrees since
he doesn’t think it has much to do with being Goemon, but then
Kagutsuchi remembers that there’s a stamp for participating. Goemon
immediately does a 180 and suggests joining. He also talks about how it
feels like he’s seeing his younger self practicing his performances with
the old man. Also no one would care if your break got extended...so why
not join?
You either shrug and agree,
accept enthusiastically, or reproach Goemon for being taken in by the
stamp. Ikutoshi is happy you’re joining and says he’ll lead you to the
place for it. The area for the dodgeball game is a place towards the
back where most people don’t go, and Goemon comments that this is
probably why he saw people who seemed so aggressively focused.
Bathym,
Garm, and Kamui are at the game area too. Bathym is surprised to see
you, Garm asks to play with you, and Kamui asks if you’re still working
hard without him around. He takes it back right after saying it’s clear
that you’ve grown. You can greet the former two or ask Kamui what he
means by growth.
Going C, Kamui says he
means your abilities, though he happens to phrase it in a way that I
suspect it’s also a dick joke. But anyways he also quotes some old idiom
I’ve never heard of about children needing attention if you don’t see
them for three days.
In any case Bathym
turns to Goemon and calls him Goecchi, then approves after sizing him
up. He specifically points out his swimsuit and the coloring as
charming. Goemon is happy to hear it and says that he likes the clothes
he’s wearing the best.
Daisuke walks over
to see what’s going on, and Juugo notices that the rules are a bit
different from normal. And with all the tough guys around Juugo feels
like he has to enter the tourney too. Arslan calls him earnest, then
suggests to Zabaniya that they enter too. Zabaniya agrees.
Avarga
gets motivated to enter since he has to if his rival does. Mineaki
considers joining too since it’ll be a chance to observe everyone’s
growth. You note that everyone’s come and agree to make a match of it.
Goemon is excited about everyone joining, and Jiraiya sneaks in quietly.
Ikutoshi
says it’s about to begin soon, so the host, a blue trooper, announces
the start of the game. All the participants start yelling as they split
off to the courts drawn up for the activity.
Kagutsuchi
talks about how you have to start by taking the ball in order to win.
Ikutoshi says that as a matter of tactics, it’s possible someone can try
to obstruct someone else. Garm yells about not losing and wanting to
play a lot with you. Kamui says he originally just came to see you, but
if you’re joining some event then he needs to do so too at full power.
You either say everyone is gathering or hope no one gets hurt.
Goemon
is on edge and says it’s gonna be fun, and the host starts the game,
and so the episode battle begins. The story continues after.
After
the battle, narration picks up by talking about how the first round of
the beach dodgeball games have begun. Goemon says it’s pretty fierce out
there and that it’s a lot more than he was expecting. You say you have
to steal the ball at some point because you can’t win just by dodging.
Some
mobs pick up on you guys being first timers and decide to take you guys
out as a sort of lesson on how to play Dodgeball With Artifacts. That
includes interfering with the other players, which one does by attacking
you from behind. You are knocked down into the sand, and other players
take advantage of the opening to throw balls at you.
You
are unable to defend yourself in time, but Goemon slides in to
intercept the shots as he proclaims stealing things is his schtick. He
then beans one of the mobs who attacked you, and you get up in the
interval thanking him. He just laughs it off, and says that now that he
understands the main points he’s gonna dominate the field.
You
and Goemon work together to eliminate the other players in your court.
Kamui is one of the participants still in it and challenges you to show
him the results of your training as he kicks a ball at Goemon backed by
his NP.
You catch this ball yourself this
time and signal to Goemon. Kamui says he’ll take it all on. After the
next moment, the host blows the whistle and says the game is over.
Bathym is surprised Kamui is out after the first round, though he notes
he seems happy anyway. Kamui says he got to see your growth up front and
that nothing could make him happier. You are either winded after
surviving the first round or ask if this is that special training.
Going
A if it matters, Goemon is surprised that Kamui can smile so brightly
despite having lost. Kagutsuchi has also lost, but he says it was fun.
He also resolved to get stronger through training and reflection. Goemon
compliments his optimism and has faith he’ll get there.
Garm
runs over saying he won his game and asks to play with you in the
finals. You either express excitement about it coming up or some
determination. Goemon says it’ll start after a short intermission, then
wonders how Arslan did since he and the others were in a different
group.
Arslan comes over and says he lost,
along with Avarga, Daisuke, and Zabaniya. You are surprised at this, so
Daisuke says that it turned into an infight since they knew each other.
Zabaniya says Avarga started something with Arslan as soon as the game
began, and Mineaki says with all the oil and feathers splashed around it
turned into a mudsligning match since no one could grab the ball. Once
they were tired the other competitors eliminated them.
You
either say you see, try to tell them they did good anyways, or ask what
Mineaki was doing. Going C he says he stood to the side to gather data.
He talks about how all the Yoyogi students and teachers are great and
how happy he is about all the outstanding talents around. Avarga
comments on getting the chills again, so Mineaki says he’ll nurse him
back to health. Avarga turns him down since he doesn’t want to look weak
in front of the jocks.
Juugo says he lost
too, which he puts down to inexperience. It’s vexing, but what can he do
about it now? He’ll just have to continue with his judo training and
try better next time. Avarga approves and tells him and Daisuke its time
to go back to practicing. Daisuke is surprised and asks if he’s not
staying to watch. Mineaki says they’ll be going and wishes you good
luck.
Arslan suggests staying to watch,
which Zabaniya agrees to and says he’ll cheer for you. You thank the
both of them. Ikutoshi then comes over to ask whether Goemon really went
all out earlier. Goemon is confused by this and denies holding back,
but Ikutoshi is convinced he is. He tells him to get serious or else
there wouldn’t have been any point in joining, then immediately leaves.
Bathym
says he does understand what Ikutoshi means, saying it feels like
there’s something wasted from watching Goemon. In his words he thinks
Goemon has lost sight of how to make himself eye catching. Goemon is
surprised by this and asks for further explanation, so Bathym teases him
about his costing his soul.
You ask Bathym
to explain too, so he laughs and says he’ll have to do it then. Bathym
then starts by talking about how demons live off of belief directed at
them. Goemon doesn’t see the relevance, but Bathym continues and says
it’s less important what you yourself think of yourself and more what
someone looking at you thinks. He may be a popular ranker in the
Ikebukuro Underground Colosseum, but frankly speaking the wins
themselves don’t meant as much. If people think he’s awesome, then he
gets what he wants even if he loses the fight.
Bathym
then asks Goemon what it means to win in his case. Before he answers
the buzzer rings, and you look at Goemon as you call to him. The host
says it’s about time to start the final round and asks everyone to
gather around. Bathym says he’ll stir up your emotions, and Ikutoshi
says Bathym is still strong otherwise so you better stay focused. The
episode part ends as Goemon goes quiet.
