Mystic Christmas Episode 4 Part 1

Touji starts things off by greeting us at Shinjuku’s train station as he says he was tired of waiting for us. You greet him back and mention that you don’t think you were late though. Touji checks the time again and apologizes since he realizes he just came too early. He got antsy thinking about how it was his turn to go with you for the day.

Touji comments that the guys in the gang who went with you first did their parts well, so he feels he needs to do as well as they did. You either sigh about how serious he’s being, suggest he chill for a second, or be surprised that he’s talking about guarding you.

Going B, Touji says he can’t because you get into shenanigans left and right. If he doesn’t keep an eye on you then he feels he’ll be shamed as a guild member, so he swears to work hard as to not shame the others. You say he’s getting too worked up and that you don’t think he needs to be that way. He’s a friend after all.

Touji is a bit surprised and then says he’s embarrassed that he had to make you say so. He admits that he’s unsure if he’s that close with the rest of the gang since he’s a bit avoidant. Touji says that what you’ve said to him helps a little bit and he concedes he might be a bit stiff.

Touji then talks about how comforting the place is, just like how it used to be when he had other friends he worked with for the sake of Tokyo. It’s because of that that he wants to protect the place so he doesn’t lose something again. You can then put you hand on his shoulder, grab his hand, or hug him.

Going B, Touji is surprised as he asks if this is an attempt to cheer him up. You tell him he looked like he wanted some sympathy, causing him to ask what that even looks like. Anyways, he mentions that things have been busy since before he left, though he adds that he doesn’t hate that. He says that’s his daily life now, so he’ll protect you to keep that way of living safe too.

Touji then notes that Tomte is late and wonders if something happened. Tomte runs up on cue and apologizes for being late, then explains that Krampus started talking to him for a bit to recommend a bunch of morning tokusatsu hero shows. Before he knew it it was already time for him to leave. Touji tells him you guys just came early so Tomte has nothing to worry about. He then asks where you guys are going today.

Tomte answers that the plan is to visit the sauna village and do the final checks on the finished work. Touji is surprised the thing really came together and is a bit afraid to see how it’s turned out. You then ask what Touji was going to talk about and if it was anything important.

Touji says it’s about the investigation as he says it’s clear the Evils are the cause of the prankster Santa. Tomte asks if he’s learned anything else, but Touji says he hasn’t figured out what the demons really are. He did notice something else during his investigation though. Specifically, despite how close it is to Christmas, there’s not much of a festive spirit in town.

Tomte asks Touji for specifics, so Touji brings out a list Shirou has wrote down to read from it. Among other things, department store displays aren’t using Christmas decorations, bakeries aren’t getting Christmas cake order reservations, the streets don’t have lights or other decor put up, and something about couples that Touji chokes on and tries to gloss over. You either agree with him trying to pass on it, be alarmed and ask him to read it, or tell him to be bold and spit it out.

Going B, Touji is shocked that you would focus on the couples bit. Tomte says he wants to know everything on that list since he has to report it all to Ded, so Touji relents. He then struggles to read out that couples aren’t kissing under the trees. Tomte says that is a common sight, then asks if there’s anything else.

Touji also struggles to get out that there are less couples holding hands, but he doesn’t make it all the way and yells asking what kind of training is this supposed to be. You wonder if the strange things happening is because of the possessions and their influence. Touji says that there’s a lot of them if that’s true, and that this could affect all of Tokyo. He also compares the current situation to the calm before the storm.

Tomte says that the Santa Sendoff Ceremony might be shut down at this rate if Touji is right. He then says that while he’s been reporting to Ded as needed, it’s also true that they haven’t come up with any ideas yet. You suggest that everyone keeps going as is and focus on what you guys can do. Touji agrees since the others might come up with something that you guys don’t. Tomte then says it’s time to go.

Title card pops up, and this chapter is called The Disappeared Santa Claus.

Narration then describes the sounds of cooking being started in preparation for the main event at the sauna village. Cheerful voices can be heard from the entrance, and Ebisu smiles as he looks up and sees who it is. Eita is there with Makara and Aegir as he says he’s brought the seafood Ebisu asked for.

Ebisu thanks him and comments that they had a pretty big haul to bring back so much. Makata laughs and says it’s thanks to Eita working so hard as he fished up a huge tuna. Eita however credits that to having Makara and the others to help. Aegir starts leaning on Eita and teasing him for suggesting Aegir wasn’t any help.

Eita asks Aegir to get off and to stop talking to him from so high up since he’s so tall. Aegir laughs it off saying everyone is small compared to him. He adds that everything about him is big and great for that matter. Eita gets annoyed as he says he’s still growing and will be as big as him one day. Aegir says that’d be nice and clarifies that he’s not calling him small. If you live by the sea, your dreams should be just as big and greedy.

Anyways, Ebisu says it’s time for him to get to work and make a whole lot of dishes using seafood. You walk up at this point and can talk to either Eita, Ebisu, or Makara as you greet them. In B, Ebisu is glad to see you and asks how you’re doing. In C, Makara is also glad to meet you again. He explains he just got here to delivery some fish and invites you to join him on a trip to sea next time.

In any case Aegir calls you cold for not greeting him since he thought you were going to do so. He also teases you about having become a naughty kid to be keeping him on the hook like this. You either greet him, apologize and say you didn’t notice him, or agree and say you’re a bad kid like the kind he likes.

Going A which I guess skips a few extra lines, Touji calls Aegir suspicious and demands he not get any closer to you. If Aegir tries to do anything funny Touji threatens to call the police. Aegir just thinks Touji is being cute and plays off the amount of touching he’s doing with you as just a greeting. Touji refuses to believe that and demands he identify himself.

Tomte steps in to introduce Aegir as a college professor at Toyosu Marine Academy. Touji has trouble believing this because of how Aegir is dressed, so Aegir laughs and says appearances aren’t everything. He also tells Touji to call him Professor. Touji introduces himself and apologizes for his rudeness. You are either glad this didn’t turn into a fight or pick on Touji for being such a stickler about social positions.

Eita is surprised that Touji is in the same class as you, then introduces himself to him as a middle schooler at Toyosu. Makara goes next and mentions he’s a high schooler at Toyosu. You either say you know, be shocked that he’s a high schooler, or comment that you thought he was higher up than that.

Going B, Makara asks if it’s that surprising before saying he’s happy he seems reliable to you. Anyways Tomte explains the Toyosu group is part of the organizers and was asked to collect ingredients for the dishes to be served at Christmas. Based on how they look he figures the fishing went well and is relieved they all seem unhurt. Aegir says as the oldest of the adults who went with them he made sure to keep the students safe.

Tomte says that’s reassuring before asking where Dagon and Ahab are. Makara says Dagon went back to his own lecture hall to hide since it was really bright out when they went fishing. Aegir sighs about him being an indoors type of guy despite his body type, though he’s glad this means their hunting grounds don’t overlap much.

Eita says Ahab mentioned not wanting to go back on land so he left the delivery to the rest of them. Tomte is disappointed since he wanted to greet them. Aegir says Ahab would probably just grumble about how delivering things would be a hassle and is probably going to be at the main event. Tomte hopes as much since he wants everyone to celebrate Christmas.

Anyways, Tomte moves on to mention that Ebisu will be the head chef for the seafood. Ebisu protests the title as he says he’s still learning. He’s not quite as good as Chouji with big feasts since he usually sticks with smaller restaurant casual dishes, and as he talks about it he doubts he’s good enough to do this.

Tomte says he tried some of Ebisu’s food and insists that his stuff is awesome. The rest of the Toyosu group nod in agreement, so Ebisu says he’ll try to live up to their expectations. He then asks what you guys are here for. Touji says he heard you guys are checking the facilities, then asks Tomte if they need to help carry the deliveries.

Tomte says it would be easier if everyone was helping, and he’d be happy if he can ask you guys to do it. You agree and mention it’ll probably be a lot of work as you have to look up at it all. Tomte suggests trying out the saunas after working as a test run for it. He also invites the others to come along too saying it ought to help cure their fatigue from fishing. Aegir thinks it’s a great idea and says he’ll join. You either ask Aegir about him knowing of saunas, say they feel great, or say you want to get into a sauna with him.

Going A, Aegir proudly declares that he’s learned about all kinds of enjoyments since coming to Tokyo. This includes saunas of course, and he offers to show you how to enjoy them. He then asks what the others think.

Ebisu says he has work to do, so he figures he’ll go in on the big day. Makara decides to stay and help Ebisu since it’s a lot of work for one person, which Ebisu thanks him for. Eita has to think about it, then says he thinks of saunas as uncomfortably hot since he doesn’t know much about them. He leans towards helping Ebisu too since he’s learned how to clean fish from his dad.

Aegir says people should try things at least once in their life and says Eita’s own greed is small. He takes offense at this in response. Tomte shrugs and says he won’t force him to come, though he does want him to learn how great saunas are. If Eita does change his mind though, Tomte offers to teach him how to go about it if he calls him over. Eita thanks him and heads off to help.

Some time later, Eita is finally getting around to the last box of fish he needs to deal with. He mentions being surprised that everything they brought back still might not be enough. If they need to stretch it, then they’ll be using mountain ingredients, and Eita wonders if some hunters have been asked to help too.

Eita tries and fails to reach the highest shelf, then says he doesn’t want to ask Aegir for help with it. He sighs about wanting to grow up soon and wonders if anyone around can make that happen for him. At that point he happens to notice an Evil around and goes to check it out since he initially thinks it’s an octopus of some kind.

The Evil pops up from whatever Eita was doing in trying to identify it asking him to stop tickling it or something. Eita is surprised by it and asks if it’s a Santa School student, which the Evil is confused by. Eita then figures it must be a stray and asks where it came from. It tells him it came from a faraway faam.

Eita figures out that the Evil meant farm, and it adds that its specialty is raising big crops and livestock. It then asks Eita what a Stray Transient is, and he answers that it’s a Transient who lost their summoner. He heard a lot about that at school. The Evil agrees and thinks it must be a stray then.

Eita sympathizes for the Evil as he starts to cry about how strays have bonds too weak to keep them in Tokyo for long. He bounces back quickly enough to offer to help however he can, saying that new encounters are important. The Evil then asks him for a lot of porridge, and at that point the episode half ends.
