Chapter 4 Episode 14: This is Not a Rout (Abridged)

Monster Procy: Wirrrrrooo (starts dissolving)
Crowne Alter: Goddammit I'm losing here! Damn trash heroes and damn trash Observers thinking they can win against ME!
EX Ryekie: I'm nowhere near done! Let's finish this, MC!
MC: O-okay!
Akashi: A-are you okay, MC!? Aren't you pushing it!?
Mokdai: Y-yeah MC you look tired...
Melide: Of course. The bigger the path kept open, the bigger the strain on the Observer. Plus MC hasn't learned how to control it before opening the path.
Crowne: So, if Ryekie keeps fighting...
Sui: MC might burn out first?
MC: I can keep going just a bit more!

Monomasa: ...it's true we're in a better position than ever. We can win if we push a little more.
Yoshori: So we HAVE to do this!?
EX Ryekie: MAXIMUM POWER!!!
MC sends Max VP to Ryekie, which also causes MC to waver from a violent shock to their consciousness.
MC: I CAN STILL DO THIS
The VP sent to Ryekie turns to electricity that Solar Flares the surrounding area.
Crowne Alter: MY EYEEEEES
EX Ryekie: Eat it! EX Thunderous Lightning "Terabolt Slug"!!!
Monster Procy: reeEEEEEEEE *(blasted)*
MC: naptiiiime (flump)
Akashi: MC!?

Broker's Ship
Broker: Oh look what the cat dragged in.
Crowne Alter: ...!!
Broker: You look mad. Are you mad? Tell me if you're mad.
Crowne Alter: FUCKER! That little shit Took Everything! They're so gonna die I swear! Broker what is your goddamn plan with them!?
Broker: That's classified. And I thought I already told you we aren't equals. I know you have enough intellect to understand this.
Crowne Alter: I knew it! (punches the walls until their nails break, then starts gnawing on said broken nails while quietly muttering to themselves) You're all gonna DIE! Exio, Justice, MC...! Watch me bring the real big guns next time!
Broker: (watching Crowne Alter and also whispering to himself) You do that. Dance, puppet, dance.

Elsewhere
Akashi: MC!
MC: what...? (wakes up)
Akashi: MC! Oh thank god you woke up.
MC: wait what happened
Akashi: You've been out for almost a whole day. Don't scare me like that.
MC: (looks around) where am I?
Gammei: Our agency HQ. It doubles as a shelter in emergencies. You guys did a lot for us, so we're giving you guys space here for now. Sorry for what happened. If you guys didn't jump in when you did, the city would be even worse off. Thanks.

MC: how bad is it?
Akashi: Well...this is what the office looks like now.
Akashi shows a picture of the building from his phone. The office building is totally wrecked.
MC: Oh no!
Gammei: ...most of Central Ward's just as bad. At least half the municipal area was crushed to pieces by that giant Monster. Police and heroes are busier than ever helping victims.
Gammei has darker bags under his eyes than usual. He sighs, then offers his hand.
Gammei: Can you get up? I'll take you to the cafeteria. I bet you're hungry. And there's some people who want to see you.
Akashi: ...

Later
Mokdai: MC! You're awake! You okay? I asked to have the medical staff look at you.
Sui: So now everyone in Parallel Flight besides the director is okay. That's a relief.
MC: What happened to Huckle?
Sui: Well...
Ryekie: Oh, MC! Good to see you awake!
Huckle:
MC: He looks fine! / I'm glad we got you out!
Ryekie: ...so Huckle, do you remember our new employee MC?
MC: What...?
Huckle: ...I'm sorry, I don't. I beg your pardon, Mr. Ryekie.
Ryekie: ...no, it's not your fault.

MC: W-what?
Akashi: After you fainted, the tentacle that caught Huckle dissolved and dropped him. We thought he was okay, but he was like that when he woke up. Seems he's lost a lot of his memories.
Mokdai: Melide said it's the after-effects of having his Observer personality torn out. The memories might come back later, but it's possible he might stay like this too...
MC: No...
Ryekie: ...for now, Huckle only seems to remember up to the part where he and I met and started being friends. He barely remembers me, but nothing after that.
Huckle: I'm sorry. I'm sure you all meant a lot to me, but I can't even remember your names. My apologies.
Akashi: Goddamn that asshole!
Mokdai: Akashi...

MC: Whatever happened to them anyway?
Sui: They disappeared, probably when Ryekie's thunder flashed. The monster they brought disappeared too, maybe back to its original world.
Mokdai: The giant monster stopped attacking after that, and everything suddenly went quiet. We asked Melide, and she said she couldn't see it anymore, so it might not have really woken up.
Gammei: So something even worse will happen soon, huh? Next time the city really might get destroyed. Also the girl left somewhere with her friends. I wonder what they're planning?

MC: Melide's not here? Where'd she go?
Mokdai: Dunno. Exio hasn't woken up yet, and when I went to check his bed this morning he was gone.
Ryekie: The medics say he isn't going to die, but you know...they're villains. They probably didn't want to stay in a hero agency for very long.
Mokdai: They still left us a hint. Apparently the giant monster will be sleeping for at least a week. If we're gonna fight it again, it'll happen then.

Sui: What can we do with a week?
Akashi: Prepare as best we can...but with the boss like this...
Huckle: ...
Ryekie: ...but we can't sit here and wait to die. If it comes again, then I at least will be going back out there. I can't let the city be threatened any further. There's still people in there too. I have to save them.
Ryekie: MC, I'm sorry about the strain I put on you in that fight. Still, I'm sure that power is our best hope going forward. If you want to help again, I'll gladly accept and fight with you. Will you come along?
MC: Yeah! / Are you really asking me that now? / As many times as it takes.
Ryekie: ...I see. Thank you.

Outside
Crowne: ... (sigh)
Crowne: So, that's how it is. Which means, I should be the one to settle things. But...what should I do? I lost my dreams...so do I have the power to fight?

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 13: Direct Lightning Strike (Abridged)

Space
Broker: Oh no, they killed an Observer again. I must give a strongly worded warning and wag my finger the next time we meet. But an Observer that weak isn't worth getting that upset about. If MC stays alive and well, that universe is salvageable. I shall recline on my space chair and continue watching just like I have been this entire time.
Earth
Huckle: Pain... (flump)
Mokdai: DIRECTOR HUCKLE!
MC: OH NO DIRECTOR ARE YOU OKAY!?
Akashi: Hang on I'm com--(dodges)--whoa!
Monster Procys block the way
Crowne Alter: Bitch, you wanna get over here you talk to the guards.
Monster Procys multiply again.

Akashi: Why won't these things die already!?
Ryekie: Get out of the way! Huckle, hang in there!
MC: Ryekie, the tentacle is coming from the front! Stop!
Ryekie: Wha--(smacked into a wall)--gahh!
Sui: So we have to avoid the tentacle and destroy the monsters to get over there...?
Mokdai: N-no way, we can't deal with all that! B-but then...!
Crowne Alter: Nice. Dance for me, dipshits!

Crowne: What did you just do to Huckle!?
Melide: Forced Observer separation...
Yoshiori: And what the hell is that!?
Melide: Observers are what happens when you fuse two people from different universes into one being. It's like having two souls in one body. They just pulled one of them away by force...and destroyed it, killing the other person that was inside Huckle. The original person's personality has died, leaving an empty shell...
Crowne: OH MY GOD
Monomasa: How can you be so cruel to other people!? How can you be so calm after killing someone so terribly!?

Crowne Alter: Are you really asking me that? I hate everyone besides me and wish they'd drop dead. You know how it is, right Sui?
Sui: ...! (stiffens and looks away in shame)
Crowne Alter: Tch, pussy. But then again, that's just like you. Oh right, you're getting in the way. Eat it! (kicks Huckle in the chest repeatedly)
Huckle: Agh! Can't...move..!
Ryekie: S-stop! Huckle, run!
Crowne Alter: Look, he said run! Run, fat boy, run! C'mon! Run like a bitch!
Huckle: Urgh! Ungh! (gets kicked down a hole in the ground) Aaahhh...!
Ryekie: HUCKLE! Damn you...!

Crowne Alter: HA HA! Why don't you do something about it, Zap the Justice!? Gonna let someone die again, just like Back Then!?
Ryekie: !!!
Akashi: Ryekie, we'll handle the mobs! You go get the director!
Crowne Alter: Stop struggling and die already! Don't think your stupid plans will save anything!
Monster Procy: (hits Akashi)
Akashi: Agh!
Mokdai: Oh no!

Huckle: E-everyone! Calm down, I'm still okay! Focus on the Monsters...!
MC: Director, something's behind you!
Huckle: Wha...!?
Giant tentacle comes in and splits into four to sweep around. Huckle attempts to evade it in vain.
Huckle: B-body can't move right...!
Melide: Yoshiori! Shoot near that street light!
Yoshiori: Eat space lead! ...I'm hitting something but it isn't reacting! I'm going in! Hang in there a bit longer!
Melide: Oh no! You won't make it in time!
Huckle is getting dragged into the Monster's mouth along with a bunch of rubble.
Huckle: Agh...!
MC: NO
Monster: nom
Ryekie: ...!!! HUUUUCKLLLLEEEEE!!!

Inside the Monster
Huckle: ...huh? Oh. Right. The giant thing ate me. Well that was sad of me. I couldn't move around right at all... My body's starting to disappear. I wish I could have...said goodbye to him...at least.
Back outside
Ryekie: Hu...ckle...
Akashi: ...oh my god.
Mokdai: The giant monster...it...
Sui: We have to defeat it to save him...
Crowne Alter: HAHAHAHA! What can maggots like you guys do!? You talked big, but in the end you're all GARBAGE. Now I just gotta swat one last pest and--
Someone is behind Crowne Alter and raises their hand.
Crowne Alter: Wait wha--(SUCKER PUNCHED)

Crowne is standing above Crowne Alter, breathing heavily and bleeding from the hand she punched with.
MC: Crowne!?
Monomasa: Stop, it's too dangerous!
Crowne Alter: BITCH! You think you're hot shit slipping under my radar and--
Crowne: You really can't be me.
Crowne Alter: ...wat
Crowne: If you think I'd turn out to be a twisted piece of trash like you, I'd have killed myself a long time ago!
Crowne Alter: ...YOU SHUT UP! You aren't even a hero or an Observer, cocky ass pansy!
Crowne: Wha--ahh!?
Crowne Alter pushes Crowne back and over, then starts mercilessly beating on her. The robo arms pin Crowne and prevent her from defending herself, so blood starts flying with every hit.

Sui: Stop, she'll die!
Crowne Alter: Die...? Oh wait, right...I can kill her too with no problems. Things can be balanced out in other ways even if she's a parallel life. (tosses Crowne over to Monster Procy)
Crowne: Augh! (cough)
Crowne Alter: You're Monster food next. Don't worry, everyone else will be too, soon.
Crowne: Ugh, ahh...!
MC: Oh no! / That scum!

Ryekie: How dare you look down on life so horribly! I'll stop you in your tracks!
Ryekie: MC, your orders! I'm taking everything I have and throwing it all into beating them!
Phone: bwooong
MC: huh
Phone: high pitch sheening
MC: oh my god it's burning up!
Phone: (starts cracking from the heat)
MC: I HAVE TO CUT THE POWER
Phone: Exceedingly strong path found. Reconnect? For: Zap the Justice
MC: wait what the hell is this new window!?
Ryekie: MC, what's going on!? Tell me what to do!
MC: Is this a new path found from Ryekie and my feelings? ...whatever, let's go for it! (tap)

Akashi: Hey wait what's happening? Why's Ryekie shining!?
Mokdai: MY EYES
Thunder and lightning wrap around Ryekie, flashing pale blue light several times as bright as daylight.
Crowne Alter: WHAT
MC: (feels like they're being pulled into the sky by gravity forces) OW WHAT
Something like a black hole has opened above.
MC: No really, what!? I'm not gonna get sucked in by that!
Ryekie: Raaaah!!! (FLASH)

Sui: Ryekie?
Monomasa: He's gone...
MC: Where did he go?
The black hole and gravity effect is gone too.
MC: what the hell just happened
Crowne Alter: ...wait was that just some bluff? Waste of my goddamn time
Something SLAMS into the ground and the Giant Monster roars.
Crowne Alter: wait wha
MC: The tentacle that got Huckle got cut down!
Monster Procy: (gets blown up)
Crowne: h-huh
Crowne Alter: What's going on now!? Wait...
???: Raaaagghhh!!!
A light zooms back to the ground, then fades to reveal...
EX Ryekie: The lightning of justice that tears the heavens is now here! I am ZAP THE JUSTICE!
MC: R-Ryekie? / Justice? / What!?
(C) Mokdai: J-Justice!? What's that new form...!?

EX Ryekie: I dunno what happened, but I know MC gave me new power at least! There's more power going through my body than I've ever felt, and now I'm here to kick evil's ass!
Yoshiori: What!? Is this a new Observer thing!?
Melide: No, not all Observers can do that. Normally connecting a path to a host universe and writing over a current transformation like that would tear you apart and suck you into that universe. But MC could do that...?
EX Ryekie: ...guys, let me handle all this. (points at Crowne Alter) This is war! All your attacks on Exio! All your insults and assaults on us and your attacks on Crowne! And all you did to my long time partner Huckle! You're gonna pay for EVERYTHING!
Crowne: Ryekie...
Crowne Alter: Eat shit, bastard! You don't get to talk big just 'cuz you learned to control your power a little! And you, MC! Lick my pointy ass shoes, trash! You ain't better than me!

Crowne Alter raises their hand to Monster Procy, fusing them all back together. Dark sparks scatter from it as it stands in front of Ryekie.
Mokdai: Oh no it's powering up!
Monomasa: He wants us to leave it to him. It'd be pointless to get ourselves endangered.
Sui: B-but...
Akashi: ...I get it. Ryekie's putting his pride on the line for this.
EX Ryekie: Yeah, I got this! I'll win for sure! MC, we'll do this together!
MC: Okay!
Crowne Alter: Know your goddamned place!
EX Ryekie: You've destroyed and hurt people while indulging in your own desires! You've trampled on lives and freedom as you selfishly called them in your way! You are evil, and you are going down NOW!
BATTLE START

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 12: The S Class Hero's Achilles' Heel (Abridged)

Little Monsters: REEE
Exio: Yoshiori, corner and eliminate them.
Yoshiori: Okay! Your asses are mine, worms! Bang bang!
The smaller monsters get driven into a net placed in a dead end.
Sui: You're trapped now! Go for it guys!
Akashi: Akashi Fire, ignite!
Ryekie: Ryekie Thunder, crash!
Monsters: (ded)
Akashi: Alright!
Huckle: I'm surprised Exio's improv strategy is working so well.
Exio: I'm just using what's already there and telling Yoshiori what to do with it.

Melide: Exio, more are coming from behind.
Exio: Oh. Can you handle the tentacle?
Monomasa. Understood. Melide, your orders.
Melide: Okay. It's moving too fast for me though.
Huckle: Dodge, then counter. Use that wall in the upper right and attack after it swings by.
Monomasa: Understood. Hup!
Melide: Aah! (falls from quaking)
Huckle: (catches her) You okay? That was a big one.
Melide: Y-yes, thank you. And sorry...
Huckle: It's fine. You aren't good at operating in battles are you? Plus you're tired. I can handle this.
Melide: ...okay then.

MC: what reliable adults / wow those two
Yoshiori: HA! Exio's a top class Operator! He can do this stuff in his sleep.
Akashi: so how bad DO you want to get into Exio's pants?
Yoshiori: S-SHUT UP it ain't like that!
Mokdai: yeah sure whatever, we are fighting for our lives and homes here, a little help!?
Sui: More incoming from two different directions!
Exio: I'll take the right side then. MC, you take the left. Hmm...Sui, Yoshiori. You two come with me?
MC: Okay!

Exio: You are improving greatly. Good luck over there.
Exio has turned the battle in your favor. Splitting the party around is cutting down on the number of mobs and makes it possible to handle the tentacle.

Huckle: Exio seems really experienced at this. Who is he really?
Monomasa: I only know that he's a Back Alley Operator who's been through wars. He can get you through hard spots if you rely on him though. He's that smart.
MC: weird. What kind of life did he have?
Monomasa: !
Monomasa: Exio, get away from there!
Exio: Wha--(STABBED)

MC: Oh my god!
There is a spear shoved through Exio's body. He's coughing up blood.
Melide: AAAAHHHH
Yoshiori: W-w-wha
Huckle: There's another one! Ryekie!
Ryekie: On it! (jumps up and behind Exio to knock down another spear shot)
Exio: (coughs up more blood)
Yoshiori: EXIOOOOO (attempts to pull the spear out)
Monomasa: STOP THAT! He'll bleed out if you take the spear out!
Yoshiori: But...!
Sui: I'll handle it! (cuts off the ends of the spear with her threads, then wraps what's left and Exio's body with string)

Sui: Okay, it should be okay to carry him around. It's only going to stay that way while I'm still in hero mode though...
Monomasa: ...sorry. Thank you.
Melide: Ahhh!
Mokdai: Melide, calm down! Exio's still okay! We can get him fixed up, I promise!
Akashi: ! Who's there!?
???: Shut your filthy mouth, bitch.
Crowne: ! That voice!
MC: I knew it!

Crown Alter appears.
Crowne Alter: There you assholes are. Do you know how much time it took to get here? And Exio didn't even die!
Yoshiori: BITCH
Crowne: Oh piss off you big gorilla. The quicker he bites the dust the quicker I can blow this doomed joint.
Mokdai: Doomed? What?
MC: Yeah, what?
Crowne Alter: I'll never tell you third rate Observer~.
Akashi: Does literally every thing you say have to be a cuss or putdown!? I'm not gonna let you kill the old man!
Melide: ...Akashi
Crowne Alter: What, did your balls drop or something? Here. (summons Monster Procy that promptly splits into clones)

Sui: Oh no!
Ryekie: Get ready guys! MC!
MC: Got it!
Huckle: I'll back you all up too! Get Exio and Melide somewhere safe in the meantime.
Yoshiori: I will! EXIOOOOO!
Melide: M-me too? But...
Mokdai: ...you can barely stand now. It's too dangerous for you to stay like that.
Melide: ...okay. I'm sorry.
Yoshiori, Exio, and Melide retreat.
Huckle: That Procy thing is gross.
At least 20 Monster Procys are on the field.
Crowne: Okay, we'll play here. THEN I'll go shove Exio into another dimension. And by another dimension I mean kill.
Akashi: You'll never get your way!
MC: Let's go everyone!
BATTLE START (more happens afterwards)

Five Monster Procys remain.
Ryekie: Okay, the numbers are even now!
Akashi: I burned a lot of energy, but I can keep going!
Mokdai: We can't afford to lose! I gotta keep up here!
Sui: ...if you're going to keep going, then no mercy from me!
Monomasa: Heh. How reliable.
Crowne Alter: How are you punks doing so much better than last time? There's less of you than before! Oh whatever. Smash them!

MC: Get ready you guys!
Akashi: Right! Mokdai, let's get the one up front!
Mokdai: Okay!
Sui: The tentacle is coming from that building's shadow! Monomasa!
Monomasa: Understood. Hah!
Crowne Alter: Oh, team work. God dammit. That can't be it tho.
Akashi: I missed! Justice!
Ryekie: Right! Huckle, gimme 3000 VP!
Huckle: Okay! Careful with the resources! Fire at that pole in five seconds! You should destroy them all if you do!
Ryekie: Got it! Ryekie Thunderclap, zap! (destroys the two Procys that ran from Akashi)
MC: Alright! You two are awesome!
Ryekie: Yep! Don't underestimate how great Huckle and I are together!
Huckle: Don't stop to brag, there's still three of them!
Ryekie: Let's get the rest of them!

Crowne Alter: hmmmm. Okay then. (disappears)
MC: wait what!?
Huckle: Where'd they...
Crowne: Huckle, behind you!
Huckle: Wha--(kicked down)--aahh!
Mokdai: No!
Crowne Alter: It's YOUR goddamn fault you trash tier heroes are getting better
Ryekie: Huckle, I'm com--
Monster Procys block the way.
Akashi: Ryek--we're surrounded!

MC: Akashi, the tentacle's behind you!
Akashi: What!? Aaah!
Monster Procys and the tentacle all start beating the rest of the party back.
Sui: W-what do we do!? My hands are full keeping myself defended!
Mokdai: They keep cutting us off when we try to get closer!
Huckle: ! Don't come this way! Don't split up now!
Mokdai: But...!
Huckle: ...I'll be okay. I know Observers can't use Parallel Weapons, but I was still a Hero for a long time.
Ryekie: Huckle...
Huckle: All of you focus on the Procys and tentacle first! I'll deal with this somehow!
MC: ...okay! Please hang in there!
Huckle: ...thank you. I'm glad you joined our agency.

Crowne Alter: You done with the lameass goodbyes yet
Huckle: Sorry, I talk more as I got older. I'll keep you entertained. I'd like for you to leave as soon as possible.
Crowne Alter: ...your shitty life ends in five minutes!
Crowne Alter slashes with their robo arms, but Huckle springs back two, three times.
Huckle: I used to be an S Class Hero. Don't think my skills meant nothing!
Crowne Alter: Not bad, dick. But I can move that fast in seconds too!
Akashi: Damn I didn't know Huckle could move like that
Monster Procy: (swings)
Ryekie: (saves Akashi) Focus, Akashi!
Akashi: Sorry! We gotta clear these guys out.
Monomasa: I'm glad you haven't changed Huckle.
Sui: Did you say something?
Monomasa: No.

At least ten minutes later
Huckle: (starting to tire out)
Crowne Alter: Damn your first class reflexes.
Huckle: I've walked more than a thousand miles back as a hero. It's a thing I picked up.
Crowne Alter: Yeah yeah I can see. Ass. I also see you getting weaker.
Huckle: !? (notices that he's bleeding from grazes on his forehead)
Huckle: Well I guess I should be glad you didn't actually split my head open.
Crowne Alter: I see you're strong and confident here too. But how about this?
Huckle: Wha--
Crowne Alter: (zooms in and lifts Huckle by the collar)
Akashi: No!
Ryekie: Huckle!
Monster Procys blocks the way.
Ryekie: Out of the goddamn way!

Huckle: Dammit! (attempts to struggle out)
Crowne Alter: I have goddamn robot arms. Gonna try to hit me next?
Huckle: Ngh...!
Crowne Alter: See? You can't. That means you see me as a pussy ass woman. How about I shove this high heel shoe I'm wearing for some reason up your ass for thinking of me like that? (squeezes harder around Huckle's neck)
Huckle: Gaah!
Crowne Alter: Pretty uppity for an Observer with a power level that ain't worth SHIT. Though I guess you're like that over Here too. (raises one of the other robo arms and makes the end of it glow with power charging)
Huckle: Gh...! W-what...
Crowne Alter: Oh, this? How about I erase your raison d'ĂȘtre? (stabs the arm into Huckle's stomach)

Crowne: Oh my god what!?
MC: Director!
Ryekie: HUCKLLLLEEEE!
The robo arm doesn't actually make Huckle bleed, but it is still causing him pain. He looks like he's choking on himself.
Crowne Alter: Nice. Rip and tear! (slowly pulls a dark shadow out of Huckle, the process of which sounds like skin being peeled off until a shadow clone is separated from him)
Yoshiori: W-what the hell is that!?
Melide: Oh no!
Crowne Alter: Ding ding! Girlie over there is right! I'mma kill Observer Huckle!
MC: WHAT!?
Crowne Alter makes a light blade with the robo arm and swings it.
Melide: STOOOOP!!!
MC: !!!
Huckle: AAAAAHHHHH
Observer Huckle is cut up and dissolves like mist in the wind.

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 11: That Night's Promise (Abridged)

Sui: String Shot! (shoots out a ton of threads, wrapping around the tentacle and outlining it for the party)
Sui: It worked! Thank you MC!
MC: Success! / Oh I get it now
Ryekie: I can see it now!
Mokdai: wow Sui great idea!
Huckle: Oh right we can physically interact with the tentacle
Crowne: Yeah, so wrapping it with something concrete here means we can see it now. Nice going Sui!
Sui: I don't know how long it'll last, but go for it everyone!
Yoshiori: Hell yeah!
Akashi: we end this now!
Monomasa: we can crush it even if it's only a small part of the Monster. Now!
Melide: Yes it's a good idea, but...well maybe never mind. Good luck everyone!

Later
Akashi: Fireballs, charge!
Yoshiori: Rescue "Operation Regain"!
Akashi and Yoshiori: EAT IT DICK
Monster: SHRIEK
The city shakes from the roar. It must have worked.
Mokdai: Look!
The tentacle withers.
Ryekie: It's working!
Sui: Its attacks are getting more violent! That must mean--
Monomasa: wait something is wrong for it to be taking everything like that. Oh no.
Yoshiori: wait what the hell is going on!?

The tentacles start flailing around.
Mokdai: oh no!
Akashi: so that's why there's been so many earthquakes!
MC: Falling!
The tentacles break nearby buildings. Civilians come running out in a panic.
Randos: AAAAAHHHHH (get caught by tentacles)
Mokdai: oh my god I can't believe there was still people in there!
Yoshiori: wait they aren't just random civilians too!
Mafia Mob: HELP
Huckles: Heroes too!?
Crowne: wait why are they glowing!?
Mobs: (shine before turning into light and get absorbed)

MC: OH NO
Akashi: the Monster is absorbing them directly!
Monomasa: it's collected a lot of energy from that!
Ryekie: the tentacle from earlier is healing back up!
Sui: Ahh, it absorbed my strings too!
Yoshiori: goddammit we lost track of it again!
MC: this is terrible...
Akashi: how are we supposed to win like this!?
Ryekie: We can't just weaken it by attrition! Dammit!
Akashi: can we at least save all those people just now!?
Yoshiori: ...not unless we kill the Monster.
Akashi: and how do we do THAT!?

MC: The Monster is looking over here!
Melide: Look out!
More tentacles flail closer as the Monster roars.
MC: Here they come!
Akashi: What!? Wher--OOF (slammed)
Mokdai: I can't see where they are!
MC: From the right! Jump!
Mokdai: Whoa!? (grazes attack by jumping)
Mokdai: It scratched my tail!
Melide: Stay focused! It's coming from above!
Mokdai: What!? Uh, pow! (punches tentacle away)

Mokdai: wow I hit it! Thanks guys!
Huckle: hmmmmm
Ryekie: Good going Mokdai! I should be able to do something too!
Huckle: Ryekie, I see a dust cloud moving from 4 o'clock!
Ryekie: Okay! Thunder Fist! (punches tentacle away)
Ryekie: Hey wait a minute, Huckle can you see it too!?
Huckle: No, but I started guessing the tentacle is big enough that it can't phase through things when I watched Mokdai. That means I can sort of guess where it is based on the traces it makes moving.
Yoshiori: how the hell do you manage to pull something like that off in a snap?
Ryekie: That's cuz Huckle's a veteran!
Huckle: Well you and I are also on a wavelength that makes it easier to tell you things too. Anyways new one. To the right and from the back!
Ryekie: Pow!
Melide: it's like he can actually see them!
Yoshiori: well even if he can't he was able to catch small hints and relay instructions off of that. Is that the secret to Zap the Justice's strength?
Melide: Yoshiori, behind!
Yoshiori: oh right, battle. Bang!

Later
The Monster's attacks intensify and the tentacle starts spawning mobs.
Akashi: goddammit, quit that already!
Mokdai: squishing the little monsters and dealing with an invisible tentacle is getting to be a bit much!
Yoshiori: shut up and abort those creeps!
Sui: I know but...I'm getting tired...
Monomasa: Melide, are you okay? You're starting to falter on your feet.
Melide: I-I'm okay. My eyes are tiring though...
Monomasa: oh...
MC: we're all getting tired...
Huckle: even us Operators are starting to feel it. How much longer do we have to keep thi--
Ryekie: Huckle, stop. We have to keep going.
Huckle: ...right. Everyone, hang on until we get past this!
Crowne: All I can do is watch. This sucks.

MC: (vision blurs for a sec) huh?
Akashi: you okay? You're starting to fall over too.
MC: I-I'm okay. Anemia?
Melide: MC, it's coming!
MC: wha
A tentacle grabs the MC
MC: OH NO
The tentacle starts putting pressure on MC.
Akashi: (fires fireballs) LET GO
Ryekie: Akashi, stop! You'll hit MC too at this rate!
Akashi: Then what is it I'm supposed to do!?

MC: blacking out...
Melide: Akashi, wait. The tentacles...I sense something!
Monomasa: What is it? ...!
A tiny Monster pops out then jumps towards MC.
Mokdai: Oh no!
Melide: No don't destroy that one!
Mokdai: But!
Melide: I think that Monster is...!
MC: huh?
Monster rams into tentacle and both blow up into light particles.
MC: WAIT WHAT (falls)

Mokdai: Oh no, MC!
Yoshiori: Got you! (catches MC)
Mokdai: W-wow you managed to catch someone falling from that high up.
Akashi: I feel like I lost out...
Sui: Guys could you at least be happy MC is okay?
Ryekie: Great catch Yoshiori!
Yoshiori: Acting like a hero makes me sick!
MC: Thanks Yoshiori! / o-oh you're so buff
Yoshiori: W-well you seem fine. Good.
Crowne: oh my god phew. What were we gonna do if that Monster didn't show up?
Huckle: What was that thing anyway?
???: oh good I made it

Exio steps out of the shadows.
Exio: Hi. I said I wouldn't let anyone erase you, right?
Yoshiori: OH MY GOD
Melide: you're okay...
Monomasa: nice presence concealment there
Exio: yeah I was hiding in a secret safe house, helped me slip away
Mokdai: Exio, you're okay!
Akashi: U-uh, yeah. You look fine for someone who left a blood smeared secret base.
Sui: wait, look closer
Exio looks fine but is noticeably limping and holding his left side. Also there are a ton of tiny cuts on his arms and face.

MC: thank you for saving me. B-but are you okay?
Exio: oh don't worry this isn't enough to kill me. I've lived through worse. (walks next to MC and looks at the Gaint Monster)
Exio: it's close to fully awakening. we need to weaken it now. Let me help you two.
Melide: Okay!
MC: You're gonna help!? / O-okay!
(A) Exio: yeah I've been working to get this Monster dealt with

Huckle: (looks sad)
Exio: ...give me your hand for a sec
Huckle: Huh? Uh, okay
Exio grabs Huckle's hand with both of his own. A quick flash happens.
Huckle: Wait what!? (blinks)
Ryekie: what just happened
Huckle: I-I can see it now. I can faintly see the Monster's tentacles!
MC: WHAT

Exio: I shared a bit of my Vision with him, but that's the best it can do.
Huckle: Thank you! But...
Exio: Don't worry, it's just a small bit of my power. Also temporary. If I hooked you up with my regular vision level while you're tired you probably couldn't handle it. I figured you still want to help, and Justice works better with your commands.
Huckle: uh
Ryekie: w-well that's not wrong...
Huckle: why are you embarrassed by that? But yeah I'll help
Ryekie: Yeah! Let's do it like we always do!

MC: wow such trust. I'm jealous
Exio: but what about you and him
Akashi: OH HEY SUBJECT CHANGE GUYS WE GOT A BATTLE YEP LET'S DO THAT
Exio: oh right, that's true
Small Monsters: REEEEE
Exio: look, the warm up's here. Let's get them.
Yoshiori: YEEEEAAAH, go Exio!
Monomasa: well somebody's happy
Mokdai: I feel power welling up within me! Is this because a new Observer is here joining us?
Akashi: Dunno. But we can keep going some more!
Sui: Right! We can't lose here!
MC: Okay let's do this! New wave, engage!
BATTLE START

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 10: Invisible Arm

A government official is on air talking about how the whole city is under attack by Monsters and there is an emergency evacuation order being put out. All citizens are asked to please head to their nearest shelter to bunker down in. Out in the streets, the Monsters are screeching and approaching, and some mafia dudes are screaming in terror as they try to escape. They feel that they have no chance against them, so they're abandoning the fight to prioritize their own lives. Mafia Yellow attempts to reprimand them into staying, but he freaks out at the monsters approaching too. A random citizen tells him (or somebody else) to stop standing there until they too freak out about monsters being too close. A child cries, and a lady demands to know why the train station is closed up as she bangs on the door. The people are running scared, as are the heroes with no faith in their abilities. Sirens ring endlessly over the sounds of screams and destruction, and the city is a portrait of hell itself.

The party enters the city around this point, and Ryekie comments on how terrible it is, though he saw it coming. He's aghast that there are heroes running from the battle, but Mokdai sympathizes saying he'd have run too if he wasn't determined to fight. Sui points out that driving is supposed to be prohibited during evacuations, so she asks why people still tried to do so. Akashi points out that they're desperate and panicking, so they're in no shape to keep that in mind. Huckle says it's times like these that people want to pack their things into their car and get as close as they can to where they're going, but there's nothing to be done about that. Crowne still has some parts on her, but she warns the party that she won't be able to do much in repairs so everyone should be careful while battling.

The party pushes forward and through the crowds of panicking people towards the battle zones, and you start seeing the Monster's tentacle crushing buildings left and right and destroying a view you've come to familiarize yourself with. You express your sadness and horror at this, so Monomasa advises you to not look too much at at. He's heard that an Observer's abilities are highly dependent on their mental state, so stressing yourself like this too much will also affect the people going out to fight as well as yourself.

Melide gives a cry as she gets jostled by some random citizen, so Yoshiori catches her, asks if she's okay, and comments on the people losing sight of things around then at this point. He tells her to hang tight onto him since normal people will walk right through him. Melide does so, thanking Yoshiori. Yoshiori then asks if she can sense Exio around, but Melide says she doesn't. She only feels the three Observers present between you all, though an Observer on Exio's level would be something she could sense from some distance away. Yoshiori is disappointed and notes they'll just have to be patient and search around for him. He swears to find Exio before Crowne Alter does since his life is on the line, and Melide agrees.

Eventually the party reaches one of the front lines against the Monster swarms in the city, and there you find Barrel getting slammed by the giant Monster's tentacle and coughing from the impact. Gammei calls out to Barrel in concern, and Victom says they can't see where the attacks are coming so they can't avoid it. Furlong calls out to Victom that one of the buildings behind and to the left of them is coming down, and Victom is taken aback as he says he'll never be able to throw a defense up in time. Maculata says she'll take care of it, but the tentacle ends up knocking her aside before she can do so. Barrel calls out to her and is frustrated he's unable to hold his guns right, but Furlong tells him to not push himself because he's been damaged to the point he can barely see anything. You call out to Barrel, Maculata, or the group in general. A gets an extra bit of Barrel recognizing you by your voice and asking if you're there, apologizing because he can't see well. B instead has Maculata noting you guys came to help, and she thanks you before coughing a few times.

Anyways, Akashi is shocked speechless at how the group is. Gammei is relieved you guys showed up but trails off, so Huckle says they can tell how awful it is and how they seem to be at their limits. Furlong apologizes, saying they hung in there for an hour but things never really turned around. Victom says they can't land any attacks on the main body and can't tell where it's coming from. The smaller Monsters spawn in while that's been happening, so they go and destroy those, but it just loops back to where they started. Maculata says they're exhausted, and she notes if they keep going someone's going to die eventually as she looks towards Barrel.

Ryekie quietly assures them that you guys can handle this, then asks them to go get themselves some medical attention. Sui tries to talk to Maculata but can't come up with anything. Maculata apologizes to her, saying she didn't want to let her see how badly off she is. Sui however says it's fine, promising to fill in for her and asking her to rest. Maculata gives a little laugh about how reliable Sui's gotten and thanks her. Gammei apologizes about not being any condition to fight himself now that Barrel is doing badly, but that said he's barely standing himself. Barrel starts crying in frustration over how the fight went, but Gammei tells him to stop since he did plenty. He then lends his shoulder to Barrel, so Barrel thanks him as he accepts the help, bleeding from the head and unsteady on his feet.

Mokdai expresses concern for Barrel, and Furlong apologizes as he says they'll be leaving since UEHA's main office has put out an order to withdraw for now. Maculata says she'll take you guys up on your suggestions and bow out too, though she's reluctant to do so. Ryekie says they'll pick things up for them, assuring the group that you guys have six heroes still ready to go. Monomasa stays silent at that.

Gammei asks Huckle who the villain gang is, noting he feels like he's seen some of them before. As it is though, he can't think of anything. Huckle fumbles around for an answer to give him, so Monomasa speaks up and says they can't reveal their affiliation but assures Gammei they're allies. Yoshiori also adds that they won't stab them in the back, so Gammei decides to leave it at that and entrust them with things before he passes out. Furlong calls out to him in concern, and Victom tells him to carry Gammei while he'll take Barrel. Barrel is ashamed at his condition. Crowne tries to talk to Maculata but can't come up with anything, and Maculata asks Crowne to make sure Sui doesn't push herself too far before stumbling off with the UEHA heroes. Crowne worries about how badly Maculata was beaten since she's never seen her so damaged before. Akashi says the same thing about Barrel, and Mokdai says that those are signs of how crazy strong the Monster you guys are up against is.

Melide is alarmed as she senses something and warns the party an attack is coming. You are taken by surprise as a building behind you is destroyed by the giant Monster's tentacle. It slowly rises, then shrinks. Akashi calls out to you asking if you're okay and talking about how the building collapsed without anything touching it. Mokdai then notes that you and Melide are the only ones who can see the thing. He asks you guys what the Monster looks like and why it suddenly attacked.

You answer that the giant Monster is extending a tentacle out and flailing around with it. Crowne has to ask for clarification if you mean like an octopus tentacle, but Melide compares it to a jellyfish's instead. Huckle reasons that means an attack can come from any direction then, and Ryekie says that means you two operating for the party is that much more important.

You say you'll do your best and/or comment on the pressure you're feeling, and Melide says she'll do the best she can too, swearing not to let all the burden fall upon you. Monomasa looks proud of Melide stepping forward, but Yoshiori reminds you guys that things are happening as he points ahead. There are a ton of the larger type Monsters there which Sui notes, and these are ones spawned off from the giant one's tentacles too.

You tell the party about the Monsters essentially dividing off the big one's tentacles and/or ask what's going on and call it creepy. Melide compares them to the giant Monster's cells that it releases into the city to get food for it. Akashi gets outraged at the idea that the monsters only see you all as food, and Mokdai worries if you guys can beat them all. Monomasa reminds Mokdai that they have to do this, and the monsters start roaring. Ryekie calls out to you that they're attacking, so it's time to start the battle. Yoshiori says he can't go down before you guys find Exio, so everyone needs to get to crushing the things. You call back that you understand as you roll out the transformations and start the episode battle, and more happens after that.

After the battle, things tune in at the end of it with the last of the monsters destroyed. Akashi pants and asks if you guys are done with them, so Mokdai says that seems to be the case. Yoshiori adds that this is only for where you guys are since they're still popping up elsewhere. They'd have to be to explain how the UEHA heroes got so beat up. Sui reluctantly agrees, saying they don't have time to feel tired.

Ryekie apologizes to Akashi, Mokdai, and Sui, saying he'd have preferred not to put them through such a harsh situation while they were still newbies if he could help it. Akashi however tells him he doesn't need to apologize and that more importantly, they need to get ready for the next skirmish. Ryekie sadly agrees, and you note in concern that he's unusually quiet.

Seeing how sad Ryekie looks, Huckle quietly tells Ryekie he should forget about that time for now, saying there was nothing he could have done about it. Ryekie gets upset at that, looking grimmer than he has ever expressed in front of you. He's about to say something, but he immediately gives up on doing so. Huckle tells him he understands how he feels since what's happening now is way too similar to what happened back then. Ryekie then apologizes for causing Huckle to worry about him.

You try to ask Huckle and Ryekie about what they're talking about, and Mokdai asks if this is the same thing Exio brought up to them before. Ryekie's eyes open in shock as he gets evasive on the subject, and just when it seems like he's readying himself to talk more on it the giant Monster's tentacle crashes into him and slams him into a wall behind him. The wall cracks up as it stops him, then crumbles to pieces.

Huckle yells out to Ryekie, then asks if Ryekie was hit directly by the tentacle. Ryekie says he thinks so, then asks you where the thing is. You look around for it to see it converging back together and go back to the main body. Your eyes follow along, leading you to make eye contact with the giant Monster. You see that it is clearly looking towards you, and you yell to the party that it's aiming for you guys.

Monomasa is shocked at that as he thinks through what that means, and Melide calls out to him to be careful from behind to the right. He barely manages to dodge in time, but now an attack is going towards Mokdai. You call out to Mokdai that it's coming from behind, and he is surprised as he tries to get away. The thing barely manages to graze him, which is still enough to send him tumbling on the ground.

Akashi calls out to Mokdai, but you call out to Akashi to crouch down since an attack is coming from the right. Akashi needs a second to process this and barely manages to scrape by the attack as the tentacle slides atop his head. Yoshiori clicks his tongue about how you guys are pinned down in this situation. Monomasa says you guys have your hands full just avoiding damage, but you'll never get anywhere if you stay on the defensive either. Sui points out that the party has six heroes fighting reliant on two people's directions and how there's not enough time to react, but you have to cut her off since an attack is coming from the right and below towards her.

Sui gets mad as she jumps away, using her threads to Spiderman her way over to a nearby building, easily clearing five stories in height while the tentacle grabs at where she was earlier. Sui sighs in relief, but Melide calls out to her that her strings are getting cut. Sui is unable to react in time, causing her to fall into the air. Akashi runs to save her, and he does manage to do so, though the impact causes him to slam to the ground himself. Sui apologizes as she gets up and asks if he's okay. He says he's fine, then asks if she's okay herself, so Sui says she's okay. You're relieved Sui's okay as she climbs down from Akashi's arms. Sui's attention is caught by something when she looks up, which is her strings brushing up against something transparent. This gives her an idea, and from the shadows there is someone watching the battle play out as the episode ends.

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 9: Screams of a City of Twenty Million

The giant Monster's invisible tentacles steadily reach into the city, scattering smaller Monsters as they go. The rain of merciless destruction and terror causes flames to flare up, which then amplifies the sounds of the panicking citizens' screaming and scrambling footsteps to escape. Gammei is trying to fight off the monsters in one area, and he asks in frustration what's going on with monsters constantly spawning in and buildings being crushed by something he can't see. Barrel tries to keep the citizenry calm as he says there's still space for them in refuges, saying they don't need to rush to them.

Furlong calls out to Barrel that something is coming from behind him, but the warning is too late as Barrel ends up eating an attack that knocks him over. When he gets back up, he says his ribs might be broken. Furlong gets angry at this and moves to shoot with his hose, but Victom tries to stop him saying it'd just waste energy to shoot at random. There's still people in the upper levels of the buildings, so Victom says Furlong can go for revenge after saving them as he prompts him to follow along. Furlong snaps out of it a second later and says he understands.

Barrel apologizes for getting incapacitated, but then he yelps in surprise when he sees some threads on him. This turns out to be Maculata's doing, and she says she's using that in place of a corset. She can't actually use it to heal him, but as a makeshift cast it'll help him fight at least. Barrel cheers at this, almost claiming it doesn't hurt at all before admitting it still does, but it does help a lot with mobility now. Maculata sternly tells him to go to a hospital after everything is done with and says he should think of her strings as emergency, temporary first aid. Barrel thanks her, then asks her to help them out with fighting. Maculata agrees, saying she's not a lady who'd stand for constantly losing. Gammei says he's going with them too since he needs to punish the monsters for hurting his cute kouhai.

Over in the park area, Kyoichi is battling it out with monsters there, covering for the evacuation of children among others fleeing to shelters. He swears to not let them lay a finger or whatever on them, but Toshu points out that the monsters seem endless as he asks where they're coming from. Shouen says they'll be tired out by the onslaught if it continues, and he suggests cutting the monsters off at their source.

More monsters pop up to Kyoichi's surprise and frustration, and they spawn in close enough that they'll ambush him like a chump. A voice however intervenes by narrating that the monsters suddenly freeze in place, and Subaru reveals himself as he prompts Kyoichi to destroy them while they're open. Kyoichi quickly does so, and after the monsters are eliminated Shouen asks Subaru about his presence there. Kyoichi thanks Subaru and compliments his way with words, but Subaru scoffs it as cheap flattery. He points out that he can't spam that ability all the time, and right now all he can do is stall for time so people can get back on their feet. Kyoichi smiles and says he'll make full use of that. Toshu says he can't see a way to win, but they can't give up either so he rallies the heroes there to continue fighting.

Over at the beach area, Gomeisa is attempting to talk the monsters down and ask why they're doing all this. This has no effect as one jumps to attack him, but Kirsch jumps in with one of her martial arts moves to save him. Gomeisa thanks her in surprise, and Kirsch is incredulous as she tells him to keep his guard up. At the very least, the monsters popping up there don't seem the type to listen, so Kirsch tells Gomeisa to focus on defending the civilians and himself.

Gomeisa says he will, though he still seems upset about fighting. Procy tells him he's too nice, even if it is one of his good points. But for now he tells him to harden his heart before he gets himself killed. Hisaki is there too as he comments on that being a badass line straight out of some movie. Procy isn't amused as he says Hisaki should lend some of his sensibilities to Gomeisa, then asks if he's done with that mecha he's so proud of. Hisaki says it's good to go now thanks to Procy, though he does wish he could've had another ten minutes for it. He swears to do his best so that people who aren't good at fighting won't need to fight. Procy is amused by that and says it's go time. Hisaki, Kirsch, and Gomeisa all respond back affirmatively and ready themselves to keep the fight up.

Scene then shifts to your end as you point out how there's harsh battles going on everywhere and the city is turning into a mess. Mokdai agrees as he says that's how it looks like from a quick glance at all the livestreams going on, and he suggests it'll be like that everywhere else. Akashi is dismayed at everyone's home city getting turned upside down like this. Huckle says he's gotten reinforcement requests from the agency's allied offices, and counting the ones still outstanding instead of cancelled now there's 13 of them. Everyone must be running shorthanded, and even heroes who were already in a battle before things turned to hell have sent out calls for help.

Ryekie gets frustrated at the destruction going on and says the team should get in and help too. He admits that he's not sure one extra team fighting will actually amount to anything, but he feels it'd still be better than not fighting. Sui agrees with him saying that since Maculata is fighting out there, then she needs to help too. Crowne gets her car started and says it's good to go, so you guys should hurry and get back to the city before the highway interchange gets closed off.

Yoshiori speaks up to slow everyone down, reminding the party that they came to the outskirts of the city to go look for Exio. Ryekie isn't able to come up with a response to that to his regret, but Monomasa tells Yoshiori to stop. He reminds him that you guys are primarily heroes and are therefore obligated to help in times of emergencies. They don't have the right to force you guys to help them when normally you'd have little to do with them. Melide just hangs her head dejectedly in silence.

You express concern for Melide and apologize. Yoshiori attempts to argue but just yells about how they don't know where Exio is. Another voice drops into the conversation saying they wanna know where he is too, and everyone turns to look at Crowne in surprise thinking she said that. Crowne quickly denies having said anything, and Crowne Alter draws everyone's attention to their location as they offer to modify everyone's ears so they can hear them.

Crowne is shocked to see Crowne Alter, who is noted to look like her but carries a totally different vibe. Crowne Alter is sitting on the highway wall smiling eerily as they look down on everyone, and Yoshiori recognizes them upon seeing them. Crowne Alter is mildly surprised to see Yoshiori still alive, then comments in annoyance that he's as tough as he looks. They're also surprised to see Melide and Monomasa still kicking, though they say they don't care that much about them. Both stay mostly silent as they glare with hostility, and you either express surprise at how nasty or ask if that's really Crowne.

Yoshiori demands to know what happened to Exio from Crowne Alter or else. CAlter asks or else what and asks if Yoshiori wants his ass beat in like they did to him earlier. He gets pissier at this, and CAlter sighs about how Exio macguyvered an escape plan to get away to who knows where. Akashi picks up on this and asks if Exio is still alive. Mokdai says that seems to be the case, though he's not sure yet if this is a good thing. CAlter says it isn't as they call Mokdai a pig as they came here to put the kibosh on him. They reason that Exio must not have run to hide with you guys given your ignorance of his situation. Look at that goddamn bitch wasting time they don't have to spare.

Mokdai is actually really hurt at being called a pig, and Sui is concerned since it looks like he's about to burst into tears. Yoshiori says he's had enough of Crowne Alter talking shit about Exio, and it's way past time for them to get hit for that and for trying to off him. Monomasa agrees with Exio. CAlter is mildly amused and asks if they're gonna fight with That Thing again, creating a ball of light in their hand and throwing it like a pokeball. In response, Shadowmonster or whatever Procy jumps out from behind the wall and stands before the party.

Ryekie is shocked at seeing Not Procy. Huckle says it does look like him, but he turns to exchange a glance with you before nodding. You also sense what's up and declare the Not Procy to be a Monster that just resembles him. Crowne Alter says Monster Procy was made so that it would never attack them, then taunts the party about killing it if they can if they want to ask them anything.

Yoshiori is mad as he accepts the challenge, and Monomasa says he fully intends on forcing Crowne Alter to tell them what happened to Exio. The two look to Melide, who silently nods back as she casts a white light on them to transform them. Once they're suited up, they charge at Monster Procy and attack. Monster Procy just swats Yoshiori's bullets away and bumps Monomasa's rubber arm to the side. Yoshiori grits his teeth at the attacks failing, but he reminds himself he can't give up when Monomasa yells out a warning to him.

Yoshiori is caught by surprise as Monster Procy practically teleports behind him and swings back its hammer before batting him into the sky. Monomasa retaliates by stabbing a thorn into its center, and he says he got a reaction this time as he moves to follow up. Crowne Alter snorts as they raise a hand towards Monster Procy and make a grabbing motion. This causes the thing to start absorbing the thorn to Monomasa's shock, and Monomasa starts yelling in pain as a sizzling sound starts burning up.

Melide calls out to Monomasa, who falls to his knees from the pain. Yoshiori has fallen back to the ground by this point, and the impacts have rocked him to the point that he's finding it hard to stand. You are shocked at how strong Monster Procy is and say they can't win against it. Crowne Alter laughs about the two being pussies and taunts them, asking if they're done already. Monster Procy then goes over to Yoshiori to go beat on him with its hammer some more.

Ryekie reaches his breaking point and calls to you and Huckle, saying you guys should help them. Huckle is surprised at this given that the city is in a state of emergency, but Ryekie argues that he can't abandon a comrade right in front of him being wailed on. Melide is surprised that Ryekie would refer, so Ryekie repeats himself saying he sees anyone he's fought alongside with even once as a comrade. Anyone hurting his comrades is going to get his knuckles in their face.

Mokdai is inspired to join in on the fight, and Akashi follows behind saying he can't leave them be even if he's not sure you guys stand a chance. Sui is surprised, but she takes a moment to compose herself and chooses to join since she's a hero too. You are glad at this and ready yourself too. Huckle agrees to join in too, but he reminds everyone to pace themselves since there's still more to come, and you call out everyone's transformations.

Crowne Alter laughs about you guys wanting to join in and get your asses kicked in, and they taunt you guys by asking you at least keep her awake through this. Ryekie says this is their only chance to gloat before he makes them regret it all. Monomasa is surprised at Ryekie coming to help, then feels ashamed of himself. Akashi says it's CAlter who should be apologizing instead of him. CAlter laughs some more at this as they say your brains must've gone to mush, then dares you guys to beat Monster Procy. Ryekie accepts the challenge as he leads the party on, and the episode battle begins as Crowne gets grits her teeth at the proceedings. More story happens after that.

After the battle, the story picks back up towards the end where the party's attacks eventually causes Monster Procy to fall apart and disappear. Akashi cheers about defeating it, but you stop him and say it's not over yet. Akashi is shocked when Monster Procy reforms slowly itself, as is Mokdai as he says the thing revived itself. Ryekie is aghast as he says that should be impossible. Crowne Alter says it should normally melt away instead of revive, but they remind you guys that they are here too. As it turns out, Monsters are also affected by the power of an Observer looking at them just like heroes and villains are, and CAlter says Justice should know that too.

Ryekie curses Crowne Alter, and Sui is taken aback as she says the battle will never end at this rate. CAlter says she's right, pointing out that while you do have a powerful "authority" as an Observer, it's heavily unrefined. If you could sharpen it a bit more into something usable, you guys might be able to actually stand a chance against them. But then again CAlter says they don't give a shit about how well trash grows and cackles.

You get frustrated at your lack of skill, and Akashi gets offended on your behalf. Crowne Alter starts showing some irritation as they call Akashi by his full name and say he's always been bullheaded. They then comment that in their timeline, Akashi was more like a dumb husk after they killed you in front of him. Akashi is shocked by this while you are taken aback, and Monster Procy goes on to smack him. Mokdai yells to Akashi, and CAlter laughs at you guys for falling down already until a quake interrupts them.

The giant Monster at Mt. Fuji roars an earsplitting yell that shakes your eardrums, making you flinch in pain. Melide notices and asks if you can hear something in surprise. Crowne Alter clicks their tongue about having to cut things short the way things are going, commenting on the timing of things getting all weird and clustered together. They then comment on needing to gank Exio already and leave before everything flips it shit inside out.

Just before Crowne Alter moves to jump away, Crowne calls out to them to stop. CAlter actually does decide to stick around a moment longer to hear out anything Crowne has to say. Crowne says there's tons of questions she wants to ask, but she decides the first thing to settle is if CAlter actually is her. CAlter refuses to answer, emphasizing that they don't want to tell Crowne in particular. Crowne attempts to stop CAlter from leaving again, but CAlter gets irritated as they say they hate seeing how Crowne acts like a man but keeps her feminine emotions inside. This shocks Crowne and prevents her from saying anything further, so CAlter finally slips away. Monster Procy disappears too.

You note in resignation or frustration that Crowne Alter got away, and Yoshiori gets up mad that CAlter kicked his ass twice now. Akashi asks if he's okay since he's so beat up, so Yoshiori says he is somehow. He's more embarrassed that you guys saw him failing to do much of anything despite trying so hard. Monomasa says you guys know Exio is alive at least, but it's not the greatest of news right now. Monomasa then thanks you guys for stepping in to help. Yoshiori follows suit, scratching his cheek in embarrassment. You either say it's nothing or ask if he's blushing, and B gets Yoshiori mad as he denies he is, threatening to throw down over it.

Huckle asks the three if they have any ideas where Exio would go when he escaped. Melide says they don't since he'd probably avoid going anywhere he'd be found. Mokdai points out that he is dealing with an enemy who would actually invade his hideout, and Sui says it'd take tons of effort to find him now. That's not factoring the city being on fire and under attack yet either.

Ryekie decides to suggest to the three to have them help you guys fight the monsters in the city if they don't know where Exio is. While they do that, you guys will help them look for Exio along the way. It'd be better to have more people for both things after all, though he'll accept it if they say no. Monomasa thinks aloud that they have no leads to finding Exio, and if they're going to search the city then fighting monsters would be unavoidable. Yoshiori thinks on Ryekie's offer and says it's not a bad idea, noting that fighting is easier with you guys. He also wants to repay you guys for helping them out and keeping Monster Procy from beating them down even worse. Melide is surprised at them, but she agrees with the suggestion too. You nod or promise to find Exio, and B gets an extra line of Melide nodding and thanking you.

Huckle sums up that everyone is going to fight against the Monsters and look for Exio at the same time, asking if everyone agrees. Team Parallel Flight responds affirmatively, though Crowne looks preoccupied. Huckle asks if she's in on the plan, snapping her out of her thoughts as she agrees, though still distracted. Huckle starts to say he doesn't know what Crowne Alter meant when they said what they said, but Crowne says it's fine as it wasn't that bad. She then prompts everyone to get in the car since it'll be faster than going on foot, so Huckle lets the subject drop and says they'll be counting on her to drive. The party gets in and gets going towards the city, and the episode ends with the giant monster roaring again in the distance.

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 8: Another Person's Hand of Salvation

We tune in to Crowne driving her car down the highway, and outside the lights of the harbor district and the ocean are visibly drawing closer. Huckle notes that this is the scrapyard in the eighth block of the port district, then asks if this is where Crowne would go if she committed some sort of crime. Crowne says yes, and although she's unsure how much history lines up with her Alter, but she herself would go here. It's close to her workplace and she knows the roads, and she knows that no one comes by at night. She also knows that the factories in the area close up by this time of day, and that there's not much in the way of residences and stores.

Ryekie says he understands Crowne's reasoning if they assume the assailant is an alternate world version of her, and Crowne admits she'd rather not think about it. Even if it's a different version of her, she'd still prefer they not do crimes. She feels so strongly about it that she wishes they weren't around, but it's a difficult topic. Sui sympathizes with Crowne, and Akashi asks if it's really okay to not have brought Procy and Gomeisa along. If they're looking into places Crowne would go to, then maybe Procy could come up with more hints. Mokdai says that while there is another Crowne running around, the Procy her Alter has is more a monster that just looks like him, so he suggests that they don't think the same way.

Huckle says that Procy has to clean up his bar, so he'll have to close for business for the day. Gomeisa meanwhile has been very insistent on staying with Procy, so he probably wouldn't have come either. Akashi goes 'oh' at that and drops the idea. You wonder if Procy is seriously hurt, wonder where Yoshiori is, or wonder where Monomasa is. In A, Huckle assures you that Procy won't be kept down by the level of damage he took since he's a veteran hero. Akashi then asks if Yoshiori is actually coming along with you guys. In B, Mokdai takes a moment to look, then points him out to you. Yoshiori is outside on a motorcycle in a rider suit following behind Crowne's car. Akashi notes that Yoshiori's right hand can still grab the handle, though it was still transparent when he saw him take off his jacket earlier. Mokdai notes that he can wear it normally and wonders if Yoshiori is just invisible to normal people. He then notices Monomasa is outside too, and it turns out Monomasa has jumped onto a wall on the highway and running atop it, baffling Akashi at how strong he must be. C is mostly the same as B with the order reversed.

Anyways, Akashi starts to refer to the third person of the villain group, and he looks over to where Melide is in the car with you guys, holding her hands together like she's praying with eyes shut and mouth closed. Akashi asks if she's fine, wondering if she's carsick since she's been like that the whole time. Melide answers that she's fine, and doing what she's doing calms her down. She prays that Exio is okay, and Mokdai sadly observes that Exio seems important to her. Ryekie wonders aloud how they're related, though he figures they aren't blood connected father and daughter. They must have something tying them together if she cares that much for him. You agree, say you're curious, or try to dissuade Ryekie from asking Melide about it.

Melide is quiet, and Ryekie quickly tells her he doesn't actually want her to answer and apologizes for being rude. Melide decides to answer anyways after a moment, describing Exio as her savior. She's noted to be struggling to talk about it, and when Sui repeats it in confusion Melide confirms as such.

Narrative flashback starts up, and it turns out Melide became an Observer shortly after she was grown up enough to be aware of her surroundings. It just happened one day all of a sudden like she was born with the power all along, and she casually transformed heroes who happened to be around. The heroes thanked her, but everyone else started being curious of her. This eventually turned into looks of fear from everyone including her blood relatives, and so began the days where Melide was called a witch.

Monsters started appearing in Melide's life, like when she was going to a picnic or going shopping. They turned up on family trips and at family gatherings. People were relieved at first that no one died, but eventually they noticed that they always turned up where Melide was. They started doubting her, and while the idea that Observers can draw Monsters to them is still an unproven assumption, it wasn't long before her family started thinking it was true.

Melide's family beat and cursed at her. She begged for them to stop to no effect, so she started apologizing for being born. Everyone started calling her a witch. They called her a disaster magnet who brought Monsters around that endangered everyone. Her parents started getting on the "Melide is a witch" train when her mother was seriously injured in a monster attack, and her home life fell apart. They wished she never had that power. They wished she wasn't theirs. They wished she was never born. It was then when her self-esteem was in shreds from blaming herself that The Incident happened.

One day, the city was attacked by Monsters. Heroes rose up to fight them, and the citizens could do nothing but run in fear. Melide was among those people. She loses sight of her parents in the confusion and calls out for them, but it eventually sets in that they abandoned her. Melide blames herself and her power, and she gives up on running. People ignored her in their attempts to escape if they weren't bumping into her or pushing her aside. She had long since run out of tears to shed over her plight by then, and she sits down among the rubble in despair.

Melide mumbles to herself wondering why she became a witch like she's delirius. The battle soon ends afterwards and silence falls on the city. If that was how things were going to be, then she'd have preferred to get eaten and be put out of her misery. Exio walks up to Melide at this point looking sympathetic for her, and Melide tenses up reflexively at his approach. Melide asks who Exio is and fearfully tells him to stay away. It's less a fear of getting attacked by a larger man and more a fear that anyone being near her will start to hate her. Exio denies hating her, surprising Melide as he calls himself her friend.

Back to the present, Melide says that was when Exio took her with him. He became a parental substitute for her, so she loves him. If he never showed up, she'd never become as strong as she has in terms of an Observer and a person. You go 'oh' at that, and Sui notes that's why Melide cares about Exio so much. She empathizes a bit with her saying she was saved by her teacher as well. Huckle says he doesn't know what Exio is thinking, but at least  him being Melide's parental substitute means he must care about her.

Melide talks about being someone who can make her power stronger herself since in the end, the only one who can protect you is yourself. She does add that she believes there are lives that can only be saved by other people, which Ryekie thinks about. Melide brings up an example for her point, though she admits she was told to not talk about it much. Specifically, her example would be Monomasa as another person whose life was saved by another. You are curious about this, so Melide says yes.

Melide starts up another flashback as she talks about how Monomasa's original personality had his future mapped out for him since he was young and raised accordingly. He went to a famous sports university and became a top class athlete with the expectation he'd make a grand debut. But these expectations cast a deep shadow on Monomasa's heart. Heavy expectations and disciplining was put upon him, which he was not allowed to reject. He was raised to be a literal puppet, and by the time he figured out that this was unusual it was impossible for him to change the course of his life on his own.

With his life dictated by his parents with no input from himself, Monomasa despaired and eventually decided he'd jump off a roof. But up on the roof he decided to end his life at, he found a small Monster up there. The monster thought it was strange that Monomasa could see him yet made no attempt to run. He just stared at him lifelessly.

The monster eventually asks if Monomasa is going to run and reminds him that he's looking at a monster. The monster still had something of a will, though it's unclear whether it was born with it or if it got possessed by the will of someone it ate. Either way he was aware he used to be a hero, and therefore couldn't bring himself to eat anyone. With no other choice, he decided he'd just wait up on that roof to fade away.

Monomasa answers that he won't run from the monster since he wants to die. The monster actually attempts to talk him out of it, saying so many people died and disappeared despite not wanting to...including himself. Monomasa just tells the monster to live in his place then. He notes that the monster is close to fading since it hasn't eaten anything, so he's fine letting it eat him. He's tired of his life, so the Monster can be Osato Monomasa instead.

The monster is sad at this, but he decided to eat someone for the first time that day. It may be more correct to say he took in Monomasa's consciousness though. Monomasa disappears from this world, and the Monomasa we know is born grieving and crying over this development. He regretted his shame and cursed his attachment to life, so he decided to make a vow. Rather than fully absorb Monomasa's consciousness, the Monster stored him away and borrowed his body, deciding to show him a multitude of things in the world until he wanted to live again.

Back to the present, Melide explains that this is how the Monomasa you guys know is a Monster. He's a monster with a heart, two lives bonded together from mutually helping one another. Crowne sympathizes with how hard it is to live according to other people's expectations, and you think on Monomasa's backstory, say it's sad, and/or go silent. Akashi's memory is jogged at this point regarding Monomasa, so Mokdai asks if he knows who he used to be. Akashi says Monomasa was a senpai at school who did gymnastics. People said he was in the running for being top of the class, an elite, and hard to approach. He forgot about him though, then wonders when it was he disappeared.

The car starts shaking at this point, and Mokdai's first surprised thought is that the car is running on gravel. Crowne says it's an earthquake though and tells the party she's pulling over. The car still shakes after she does so, and even the lampposts on the highway can be seen shaking. Ryekie says the quake is stronger than any quake that's hit recently, so there's definitely some damage to the city. Akashi bumped his head against the car's ceiling during the shaking and asks if this really is a monster's doing.

The quake eventually stops, and Sui is relieved when it does. Huckle looks up the quake stats and reads off the shindo rating is six but the epicenter is unknown. Mokdai figures that must mean monsters should start appearing, and someone starts knocking on a window. Crowne rolls it down, revealing Yoshiori who tells everyone to get out because the monsters are here, so Ryekie says it's time to fight back.

There are a ton of smaller monsters popping up on the cracked road, and most of them are looking in your guys' direction with hostility. Akashi is taken aback at how many of them are there since there's no one else around, and Huckle points out that must mean there's even more of them where people actually are. He pulls up the LIVE@HERO livestream running map showing where lives are happening, showing a map of Orient City on his tablet. There are red dots showing where battles are happening, and they have buried the entire map.

You are shocked at the map being redded out and ask if that means monsters are everywhere in the city, and Mokdai asks if every agency in the city is being mobilized. Ryekie notes that there's more livestreams being concentrated in the city center area and the city wards' subcity centers. Far as he knows, this is the worst danger he's ever seen Orient City face.

Yoshiori prompts the party to stop talking since the monsters are coming for you all. Monomasa asks Melide to transform them, so she complies by taking a prayer posture, gathering light into herself, then transferring it to them. Yoshiori and Monomasa start challenging the monsters to a fight, so Akashi and Ryekie ask you and Huckle to transform everyone else. You comply, and once Team Parallel Flight is suited up they stand next to Yoshiori and Monomasa.

Melide turns to you and asks you to take command of the villains. You are surprised and ask if this is okay or ask if they'll listen to you. B gets an extra line of her admitting she doesn't know. But anyways, Melide says it's more efficient to have one person commanding than having the chain of command split up. Also, she has no experience with commanding as an Operator. Monomasa says he doesn't mind if that makes things run more smoothly. Yoshiori on the other hand isn't thrilled but says he normally doesn't work under baby Operators. Akashi takes offence at this slight at you, so Yoshiori gets pissy and threatens to shoot him first. You tell the two to stop fighting and get ready for battle, so Yoshiori grumbles and says he'll follow your orders, so you better not waste him. Huckle says that with everyone on the same page now, it's time to get the livestream started. Crowne tells you guys the camera is ready to go whenever, and you acknowledge this as you declare the start of the episode battle. More happens after that.

After the battle, the story picks back up at the point the last monster gets destroyed and bursts into light particles. You declare the end of the battle and thank everyone for their work. Yoshiori asks if that's all of them and clicks his tongue about it not being enough for a warm up. But that said, he says you did a good job as an Operator since he could act smoothly, then thanks you. You either thank him back, ask if he's praising you, or prompt him to compliment you some more, so Yoshiori blushes a bit and says y-you better not get the wrong idea! To him, the best commander is Exio! You're just a lower end user who can do some of the things he can!

Akashi is baffled by Yoshiori's ranting, and Mokdai awkwardly tells him he talks and acts like that normally too. Akashi is shocked at this and insists he's a lot more straightforward than Yoshiori, which prompts Sui to ask if he's ever learned how to use a dictionary in elementary school. Akashi is ready to throw hands over this, so Mokdai gets frustrated and says that's how he's like Yoshiori before telling him to stop.

Huckle sighs at how quickly the younger heroes in the office let their guards down. Huckle laughs and says that's fine, since being tense all the time will make your shoulders stiff. Crowne agrees with Ryekie, saying that being relaxed like that is how you keep at things for a long time. While Team Parallel Flight is taking a moment to calm down, Monomasa speaks up to say it's too early to be relieved. He can still smell the monsters, which he notes is getting even stronger.

Melide is surprised and asks Monomasa if Monsters have a scent. She doesn't sense anything around in the immediate area at least. Monomasa clarifies that it's not coming from nearby, but more from a bigger monster that seems to be coming closer. A quake suddenly hits at that point surprising Yoshiori, and Huckle says it's even stronger than previous quakes. Ryekie says he can't keep his footing with it, and you end up falling over.

Akashi tries to run over to you in concern, but he gets knocked his feet too. Mokdai asks Akashi if he's okay, and the quake continues on for about a minute or two before it finally settles. The shockwaves stopping is accompanied by a giant roar that hurts your ears, and Melide directs your attention to Mt. Fuji. There, the monster up there is clearer than it's ever been and moving around more than it has before. You mention those facts out loud, and the Mt. Fuji monster starts extending a lot of tentacles that head towards Orient City. Huckle asks you to explain what you see, so you say the giant monster is sending its tentacles to town. Melide says the monster is being more active than before and is acting with some clear thought to it. Crowne is alarmed at this and Sui asks if the monster has awakened, and so the episode ends.

Live A Hero Chapter 4 Episode 7: A What-If Version of Myself

A flashback kicks in of Crowne's past where she is desperately trying to tell some boy in her class to stop what he's doing. Her classmates sighs about how uncute she's being and tries to say it's no big deal. He says no one else is around besides however many of them are there since there's at least three people present, and ugly laughs about how he's thought she was hot for a while. He's not a fan of her personality, but he sees her as a woman and he just can't get enough of that. Crowne demands that they untie her and threatens to beat them all up, and a guy responds by hitting her in an attempt to make her shut up.

Crowne narrates a bit about how she's in a study room for one of the top class engineering college on Earth. She's usually in there studying every day undaunted by how often she's told she wasn't girly, but now her pride as a woman was under threat of being crushed. She struggles to get out of the ropes binding her, but the guy there says she should sit still or the machine she's apparently strapped to will tear her arms off. He doesn't actually want to kill her, because he's not into dead chicks. Crowne calls the guy a rat bastard, and she briefly considers actually letting the machine maim her so she can get away. It's surprising to her how she's actually thinking of grafting prosthetics to herself in that scenario because letting the guy have his way would be too humiliating.

At this point a random faculty member happens by and interrupts, asking what the hell is going on. Crowne's would-be rapists are surprised by this development and attempt to run, and Crowne describes the teacher as the life teacher she respects as a researcher and human. Some time later, the teacher tells Crowne that the boys have all been expelled, so she can relax. He offers to have Crowne transfer to his lab if she'd like, and he makes a point of saying she'd join as a researcher worth respecting and not as a girl. He'd like to see her push her drive for researching further. Crowne then wonders what would have happened to her if she didn't meet that teacher there. Maybe she'd lose her arms, start hating men, start hating that she was a woman, and then maybe she'd go on to hate the world.

Back to the present, Yoshiori is getting up after getting his ass shot into a wall, mad at Monomasa's interference. Monomasa doesn't say anything, so Yoshiori starts demanding to know what he's doing. He accuses him of joining up with you guys and starts accusing him of betraying Exio when Monomasa finally decides to cut him off with a denial, shouting loud enough to shock Yoshiori.

Monomasa tells Yoshiori he has let his blood run to his head and that he shares his hate for the one who took Exio away. However, he tells Yoshiori to not mistake who his enemy actually is. Crowne and Procy may resemble the attackers, but they are still different people that Yoshiori is throwing senseless violence at. Yoshiori is stunned silent before deflating in despair. You either ask if Yoshiori has finally calmed down, note how quickly things wrapped up, or ask about Exio being taken away in shock. A and B have some extra lines of Akashi agreeing and saying Monomasa (I think) is strong before Mokdai moves the plot along to ask about Exio being taken away.

Either way, Ryekie says he caught that part too and loudly asks for an explanation. Monomasa looks down quietly for a while in silence, and when he eventually looks up again he starts off apologizing to Procy and Gomeisa, then all of you in Parallel Flight. Monomasa looks over to Yoshiori, so Yoshiori mumbles his apology for going after the wrong guy and says he'll pay for the damages he caused. Procy yells that Yoshiori is definitely paying for the wall and furnishings that were broken, and Crowne while slightly shaken says she's fine since she wasn't actually hurt. Procy gets slightly shamed at that and says he won't charge Yoshiori for his medical fees, but he asks about what happened to Exio too.

Monomasa says he'd prefer to not get you guys involved with that, but he's not actually sure you guys are uninvolved. Huckle is surprised and asks about Crowne and Procy being involved, and Crowne says she doesn't remember doing that nor does she have a reason to do so. Monomasa says that's natural since she was uninvolved with the abduction itself. Sui asks how those two points can go together because she doesn't get it, so Monomasa says someone else would be more appropriate to explain it.

Monomasa calls over to someone hiding by the bar entrance, and Melide reveals herself. Mokdai, Akashi, and Yoshiori react in recognition of her, and Yoshiori walks up to Monomasa with his fists balled. He demands to know why the two of them ran away and threatens to attack if they won't say. Monomasa looks away and answers that there was no other option because Exio had chose to do things this way. Melide starts apologizing as she cries, which surprises Yoshiori into looking like he got smacked in the face.

Huckle starts narrating what happened earlier to everyone, saying two strangers appeared at the hideout while Yoshiori was escorting the rest of you out. One was an Observer who looked a lot like Crowne while the other was something that looked like Procy but whose status as a person was questionable. Once they arrived at the deepest part of the hideout they started attacking. They were clearly after Exio and were out to kill him. Monomasa fought back against them, but the Observer was so powerful that they could keep powering Not Procy up despite not streaming the battle. When Exio realized Monomasa would be outmatched, he signaled to him to do as he was asked beforehand.

The thing that Monomasa was asked to do earlier was to prioritize getting Melide out of the hideout in the off chance someone showed up to attack Exio. Monomasa did as instructed, then retreated from the hideout. Exio however refused to go with them, instructing Monomasa to focus on getting Melide out safely over Exio's own safety. Monomasa chose to comply, and Yoshiori returned to the base soon after that point. By then Exio was already seriously injured.

Yoshiori attacked in a rage, and he actually held his own while relying on Anonymous, turning the hideout to a disaster. But Not Procy eventually outmuscled him and kicked his ass, knocking him out cold. By the time Yoshiori woke up, the two intruders were gone and the only thing on the floor was Exio's blood trail. It's been a few days since then (so frankly Crowne Alter should have been bugging out already unless not everything was sequential), so Yoshiori planned his recovery while looking to reunite with Monomasa and Melide to figure out a way to look for Exio.

While all that was happening, Monomasa went into hiding with Melide while being on guard for signs of pursuit. He kept an eye out for a chance to regroup with Yoshiori as well while searching for Exio. That brings us to today, where Monomasa caught sight of our battle live against Yoshiori, and he came to stop things before Yoshiori would mistake Crowne for Crowne Alter.

Huckle asks if that sums everything up, so Monomasa confirms and says that he prioritized keeping Melide alive. Yoshiori is depressed that he lost and couldn't save Exio, then starts banging his fists against the floor and yelling profanities while Gomeisa is tending to him. Gomeisa has to tell him to stop or else he'll hurt himself further, so Yoshiori apologizes again.

Monomasa thinks about the bloodstains left back at the hideout, saying Exio is a tough guy. He's about to suggest he might be dead when Yoshiori cuts him off and refuses to believe in the possibility. Monomasa sympathizes but points out that Exio is still physically a normal human. Given who he was attacked by it seems unlikely he's alive, and Melide worries over him some more.

Ryekie starts arguing that it's too early to give up, citing the fact that no one has actually seen Exio's body. It'd be wise to look for him, and doing so can make things more optimistic he shouts as he dramatically stands up. Ryekie promises that everyone, or at least he himself, will help look for Exio. Even if he wasn't able to come to an agreement with him, Ryekie's code of justice says he should lend a hand if his life is in danger.

Yoshiori is shocked by this declaration, and Akashi asks Ryekie if he's sure about that. Ryekie assures him that he means it 100%, so Akashi points out how dangerous it is and that the villains already beat Monomasa and Yoshiori. He's worried that they'll beat Ryekie too, even with all his strength. Ryekie asks if Akashi thinks he's weak enough to be done in like that, causing Akashi to deny it in surprise. You are either surprised at how confident Ryekie is, try to point out how dangerous it is yourself, or squee over how cool you think Ryekie is. C gets Ryekie to laugh and ask if you've fallen for him, followed by Akashi getting baffled by you cheering for him.

Anyways, Mokdai tells Akashi to stop since Ryekie's not going to listen to anyone if he's saying that much already. And while he isn't completely on board with an alliance, he's okay with helping out on the search since it's better to have more people involved in things like that. He also argues that a hero agency shouldn't ignore people when the job is to help people. Sui laughs and agrees, saying she was found that way by you guys too. Crowne observes that people helping each other when in trouble fits how you guys act, and you turn to Huckle and ask his opinion.

Huckle agrees with Mokdai over the bit where Ryekie isn't going to stop if he says he's going to help. It's not that he can't tell against doing it, but he doesn't think it's necessary. Doing what's deemed justice is what hero agencies do, so if a hero says they want to help save lives, then he wants to support that as best he can. Procy asks if that means you guys are helping them after all, then sighs about how quick you all are to stick your noses into somebody else's business. He warns that it'll hurt you guys at some point, maybe even this time. Still, that does track with how you guys work, and Procy does actually like that stance.

Melide thanks everyone, and Monomasa says he gets why she's happy but tells her to dry her face by the time they find Exio again. She nods, and Monomasa comments on how weird you guys are after a moment. He still feels a sense of familiarity in it though, back when he was a person and was a hero. He had a sense of justice like that back then too, and he says it was great as he looks at you guys while reminiscing.

Some time later, Procy starts asking who the people who attacked Exio actually are. He's heard the bit where they resembled him and Crowne, and the idea that they could be confused for them creeps Crowne out. Crowne tells you guys that while she doesn't know about Procy, she doesn't have a sister who resembles her that much. Procy says neither does he, nor would they ever have a reason to attack Exio to begin with.

Melide says Procy and Crowne can relax since the attackers at least aren't their relatives. She thinks the one that looks like Procy is actually a Monster made from some sort of memory record. Procy is shocked at the idea of a Monster that looks like him running around, and Crowne asks if her counterpart is also a Monster. Melide says they were definitely a person, and she felt that they were the same person Crowne is.

Crowne is confused and asks if Melide's saying the person both is and isn't herself. Melide says that in simple words, that would be the case. Crowne's existential weight, connection to the time axis, and position in the world all mirror that Observer she saw. You ask Melide about those stats, so Melide says an explanation would take a while, but every sign pointing to Crowne being the same person as the other attacker is present, aside from them being a different being.

Gomeisa says he doesn't understand and figures his Common/Japanese/whatever isn't enough for that, but Akashi says being fluent still isn't making it easier to grasp. He wonders how a Not-Crowne Crowne can be a thing, but Sui says she feels like she's heard something similar to that. You then bring up the idea of a doppelganger or something similar as you suggest looking into that.

Mokdai floats the idea that the attacker is a Crowne from a parallel world. Ryekie however is confused and says even he knows about parallel worlds being a thing. Pulling out Parallel Weapons from them when transforming into hero mode is one thing, but he's never heard of a person being brought over and asks if that's possible. Huckle says that he at least can't because a path needed for that is bigger than anything he can do. Plus it requires an enormous amount of energy just to bring them over and preserve the time axis. In the worst case, you could fall between worlds and be unable to return.

Melide says that no matter how powerful an Observer is, bringing a person to the world you're in is impossible. Normally, bringing another copy of someone into a world should be impossible as well. Procy is curious about that, so Melide says that if there's two of the same people in the world, Canopus flips out the balance of the world will be upended. The world will try harder and harder to correct this imbalance, and people disappearing when they get eaten by Monsters is one way it does so. It's apparently harder to correct for an extra copy instead though, and having just one extra copy of a person starts causing the world to break. Melide doesn't know how much energy something like that would take, but a normal person would destroy themselves first trying to handle all that. No Observer capable of doing so exists, so it should normally be impossible.

You nod at Melide's explanation, then point out that there is someone who could pull it off as you think of the person who summoned you to this world. You then suggest out loud that the Broker could do it, and Monomasa seems to agree after thinking on it for a moment. Melide also agrees that the Broker could make it happen since he can interfere in many worlds. She has some doubts though, so when you prompt her to go on she says she can't think of why he'd do so. Monomasa agrees that she has a point.

Huckle is surprised at the suggestion of a reason and asks if Melide is saying the Broker has a motive for what he's doing. Melide confirms as such, but she clarifies that she only has conjectures. But anyways the Broker is using Monsters to collect the observational weight of all things, which she compares to View Power, and turning it into energy. Akashi compares the Broker to the boss of the monsters, and Melide says the Broker can destroy the universe if he feels like it. That he isn't means he sees all the worlds as feeding grounds. There's no need to destroy places he can gather observational strength from, which leads back to Melide saying she can't figure out why he'd bring a copy of someone to this world. Melide glances over to you and says that she can come up with an idea if the point is to shake up the world for some other goal though. You are surprised at the idea it may have something to do with you, but Melide decides to back off from it, telling you not to worry about something she just randomly thought about.

Crowne changes the subject a bit to ask what her parallel self is like, wondering if her personality and appearance matches exactly. Melide denies the idea and says that a parallel self isn't bound to be exactly the same even if you're the same person. There are as many parallel worlds as there are choices you've made to be divergence points, so one choice can change the entire environment of things. That's where Parallel Weapons come from.

Ryekie notes that the parallel Crowne was called an Observer while the Crowne here is neither hero nor Observer herself. Yoshiori then complains about how remembering Crowne Alter pisses him off. He refers to Crowne Alter as a guy and says they seemed to look down on all men in the world. They also said they were going to kick Exio's face in because he's a man.

The mention of looking down on men triggers a memory for Crowne, and Yoshiori continues by mentioning that Crowne Alter seemed to hate being a woman. When he referred to them as such, they got pissy. This triggers another flashback for Crowne, and Yoshiori adds that Crowne Alter called him a shithead while using prosthetic arms to hold him down. Crowne is alarmed at that detail, and Yoshiori finishes his recap by saying the monster beat him until he passed out.

Huckle is taken aback and notes it sounds like Crowne Alter resents the very concept of gender. Akashi asks if that's really Crowne and wonders how she could have ever turned out like that. Mokdai agrees and says as far as he knows of Crowne, that doesn't seem like her at all. Crowne just says no, and you look to her in concern. Crowne says if she wasn't saved back then and told those words, she could have turned out the way her parallel self did. The episode then ends with Sui being concerned for Crowne.
