The Beachside Hut and Andvara Falls Prologue Part 1

Things start off at some stormy beach as Andvari is cackling to himself about how at last something has finally been completed. He was worried earlier when he heard that the finish date was delayed, but summer is still going on in Tokyo. And if that’s the case, he still has time to make a huge payload.

Andvari still has to do something about the number of workers he needs. He’s already made calls to some people who are standouts, but he’s still short handed so he shrugs and says he’ll just have to headhunt until opening day.

After a moment, Andvari yells and asks someone to turn on the lights so he can do his bookkeeping already. The electricity is flipped on after, and Andvari comments on how varied the Sciences are in Tokyo. Andvari then says it’s time to get on with his once in a lifetime venture, the greatest comprehensive leisure facility done up as a beach hut. He calls it the *AndvaResort.* Andvari says it’ll have all the amenities to welcome people, so it’s time to bring in the money!

Title card pops up, and this chapter is simply called Prologue.

Scene shifts back to the Summoners guildhouse as Shirou asks Agyou to do the shopping for everyone’s dinner that night and to be careful not to forget anything. Agyou says he can handle it and reads off the shopping list, which includes potatoes, carrots, beef, chicken, and pork. He figures it to be for Shirou’s special curry and mentions that while it doesn’t exist in Wa no Kuni, it’s one of his favorite things now.

Shirou laughs and says he feels more motivated to make it good with him looking forward to it so much. He also gives Agyou a tip and suggests he buy some candy on the way home. Agyou tries to refuse the tip since helping is only expected, so instead he’ll use that money to buy candy for everyone. Shirou is fine with that and leaves it to him.

Agyou asks everyone to hold the fort while he’s gone, then leaves while waving both his hands at everyone. Shirou waves back and sees him off, then heads back inside to report this and ask how things went with everyone else.

Ryouta sent Hanuman off to a cake shop he recommended to do some shopping. Moritaka says he’s asked Xolotl, who then told him that Tsathoggua will be out for the day accepting some sort of thanks from Arachne. When he passed on the message about dinner being curry that night, he heard that Tsathoggua will be coming for it then.

Touji reports that the other members are fine and checking about people being out. Shirou says that just in case the Evils are waiting back in the dorm. He gave them some candy, so they should be sitting quietly. You suggest getting started then, although you don’t know what.

Kengo asks what’s going on, so Shirou says they’re here to talk about things he doesn’t want the younger members to hear. Ryouta asks why Tsathoggua is being excluded, so Shirou reminds him that Tsathoggua is still a Tycoon despite how close he is to you guys. Touji understands and asks if this is Summoners business then.

Shirou confirms, then brings up Tadatomo since he realizes he hasn’t seen him around lately. He asks if he’s okay, and Moritaka says he’ll be absent for a bit and that he hasn’t seen him either. If all is as usual, he figures he must have things to do with the Agents or is in training. Nothing to worry about in either case.

Ryouta says he asked Agyou and Hanuman, but neither have seen him around the safe house so he wonders where he went. Kengo figures it’ll be fine if he left a note, and if he does have something happening he can just come back. Touji agrees, saying if he knows him well enough he doesn’t think Tadatomo will just pop up at random.

Shirou says that Tadatomo is currently hired by the Berserkers and considers calling to make sure later. Kengo brushes past that and demands to know what guild business they have going on today. Ryouta says they should hurry too in case they’ll come back soon. Hanuman might after all.

Shirou agrees and starts the meeting by going over the current situation for the guild. So, including the safe house you guys are in control of several Portals. The problem that relates to them involves the rent, including utilities and maintenance. The Berserkers covered what you needed for a while, and Kengo yells and interrupts to complain about the length of things.

Shirou says he needs everyone to understand the issue and is already abridging things, but Kengo presses him to dumb it down even more. You can either say Shirou is pretty serious, say he’s reassuring as your advisor, or ask him to be briefer. Going B, he’s a little surprised and says he’s the way he always is, but is happy you’d say so.

Anyways, Shirou agrees to shorten it since things can’t stay as is, telling everyone to listen up. The guild’s big problem is *that they don’t have enough money.* You either casually comment on this being a big problem, say that escalated quickly, or throw out suggestions of part time jobs and fight winnings.

Touji calmly understands the issue which Shirou is glad about since he’s not sure you guys have any financial aid. Ryouta asks where the money has been going if the utilities are okay, and Shirou says that they’ve been going to a bunch of things that aren’t strictly living expenses.

Shirou brings up a summer beach training camp as an example, so there’s transportation, on-site lodging, rental fees... Ryouta is shocked and asks if all of that cost money up until now. Shirou says there’s other things like dumbbells, which Kengo gets guilty about.

Another thing costing you guys money would be snacks, along with the ingredients for tonight’s curry. You guys have gotten by until now, but Shirou figures the sudden inflow of new members is part of the cause. Tsathoggua has been giving you guys some money every month, though Hanuman as a middle schooler and Agyou as a guild freeloader do not.

Kengo says it’s a hard thing to say. Touji thinks to himself about how Transients don’t have a concept of age, although he suspects Hanuman and Agyou would technically be older than they are. He also suspects Shirou has had the same idea, though he understands the thought of treating the others based on their mental age.

Anyways Shirou says that while they should cut back on expenses, he’ll be looking into the necessary costs for the guild as he hopes to give Transients like Agyou and the Evils the chance to experience lots of things in Tokyo. So while he’s at it he’ll also be suggesting ways to save money, limited to what’s possible, and he hopes everyone will help while it’s still summer break.

Shirou asks what you think, so you pretty much agree and ask everyone to not splurge too much. Kengo agrees that he should wipe his own ass and says there’s plenty of ways to make money. Ryouta mentions that there are leads for short term jobs on the school noticeboards.

Moritaka also offers to help and mentions Xolotl may be looking for more casino guards. Touji says his shrine assistant work has been extended, so he’ll help there too. You say that you should all work hard at it, and everyone responds together.

Some time later Ryouta is getting off the phone as he arranges to make a meeting tomorrow morning at 8. You are wondering what to do as there aren’t any irregular sudden jobs cropping up. Ryouta is a bit surprised you haven’t gotten anything set yet since he figures you’d have the most choices. Shirou says you often get dragged into some sort of affair that in practice turns into a job.

Kengo mentions that lots of people are at part time jobs at this point of time. He brings up Chouji and Chernobog and how he hasn’t seen them much. Shirou suggests you try calling Andvari since he’s a mostly upstanding guy when it comes to business. Probably. Moritaka suggests against that idea, which surprises Touji. You decide to try anyways for lack of other ideas.

Andvari answers the phone like he’s some odd jobs office receptionist, saying he’ll help if there’s payment to be had. He eventually realizes it’s you and asks if you’re gonna be telling him about some hot business tip, because otherwise he’s busy. You either greet him, comment that his busyness is apparent, or ask if he answers the phone like that every time.

Going C, Andvari scoffs and says of course he does. Who knows where the next payload will come from? He goes back to asking you why you’re calling before it occurs to him to try to recruit you for a job.

Time then skips to the next day at 3:55 am at the front of the dorms. Ryouta is up with you and asks why you guys are up before the sun is. Shirou says it’s nice you have a job lined up but questions the time for someone to pick you up. Moritaka also wonders about hat since the first train from Shinjuku Station doesn’t go until 4am.

Kengo asks if you’re sure Andvari told you 4 am. You say he did, though you concede you may have misheard. You also wonder why you were told to wait at the dorm. The time rolls around, and Shirou notices nothing out of the ordinary. Ryouta comments on the weather looking nice, and Kengo starts talking about how you must have misheard Andvari and starts heading back when a sudden tornado arrives.

Ryouta is of course shocked by this turn of events and Moritaka draws attention to the fact that the wind is converging on you. The ninja units briefly show up, and you say the wind is grabbing you. You wonder if this is your meet up and throw out a goodbye before you disappear from the spot.

Kengo freaks out about this, and Ryouta asks if everyone also saw Tadatomo with the ninja squad in the twister. Moritaka tells the two to calm down since Tadatomo gave him a message. Quick flashback has Tadatomo telling Moritaka he’s here to pick you up and to not worry as he’ll keep watch over you.

Kengo asks what the hell the tornado was about. Moritaka doesn’t answer but says it’ll be okay if Tadatomo is there. Ryouta says he saw Jiraiya too so it should be okay. He’ll send a text later too. Shirou just hopes you’ll finish your job safely.

Scene shifts to your side as you tune in at the beach, wondering what the ninja squad was all about or why things turned out like so. With how sudden it all was you’re too baffled to do more than look around. Moments later the sand in front of you wells up as someone pops out, having somehow been shot into it.

This turns out to be Aegir, who talks about having set off all the traps in his infiltration route. While it didn’t kill him surprisingly it did boot him out here, so he wonders if he needs a pass of some kind. And if that’s the case he wonders if it’s Them who has it or not.

Aegir goes eventually notices that someone (you) is on top of him, without permission, and demands to know who. You either greet him, say he was the one who popped out from under you, or ask if he’s on a treasure hunt again.

Going B, he’s surprised to see you and asks if you’re also out looking for treasure. He gets up, and you ask why he’s here, ask if this is some marine investigation, or comment on him treasure hunting again.

Going B again if it matters, Aegir proclaims that where he goes there is treasure for sure. He takes it back shortly thereafter saying that even if it’s there, he can’t find it. It’s both inside some overworld shift and protected by a security system he doesn’t understand much. It shot him into the ocean, it shot underneath the sands...and yet he seems to be having fun and calls it a dungeon/treasure worth conquering.

You either comment on Aegir enjoying himself and being excited, or you can ask if he’s actually doing his work. Going A, he says it’s thrilling to barely escape with his life and how any treasures gotten this way are great. You then tell him he doesn’t seem to be treasure hunting and ask him where you guys even are.

Aegir tells you that you guys are in Kasai Coastal Park, which turns out to be in Edogawa Ward. That’s the easternmost Ward of Tokyo by the way. You recognize the place and/or(?) say you’ve been here for seaside school.

Aegir says the place was originally set up for environmental conservation as he starts going into teacher mode, but it later became connected with other world seas. So now Tokyo’s seas are also a melting pot of cultures and people. It’s pretty fascinating for him too as a teacher at that school I still don’t know how to read. Whatever 豊舟 Marine Academy is. Tofune?

Whatever the case Aegir stops there as he realizes he needs to plan his next move in treasure hunting. He invites you to join him on it sometime and wanders off laughing. Andvari walks up to you next and seems to recognize Aegir as part of the marine investigation team. He wonders if he’s picked up on That Thing, though he scarcely believes it.

Anyways Andvari turns to you and greets you. You express shock at his swimwear being transparent, ask him to explain what’s going on, or goggle at him growing facial hair. Going B, Andvari is glad you made it safely and asks how the tornado ride was. He was planning on having you come by train like a normal person, but hey there was a chance to test something. It saves on train fares and doesn’t take too long. He then asks again how it felt to ride.

You can either tell Andvari you liked it and that you didn’t think you’d be flying, or you compare it to being in a dryer machine. Going B he says it *is* a tornado and writes down that it still needs work. That aside, he tells you to come along so he can show you around.

Andvari also tells you to give him your background paperwork and that you’ll have your interview with him on the way. When asked why you’re doing it there, he says he’s doing it to save on time and manpower. Then he pushes you to get on with explaining your reason for applying and to give the paperwork.

You hand over the background form, give the reason which gets cut over, tell him your class and concept which I guess is a thing needed for the records, and maybe talk about the tornado ride. Andvari hears about the guild thing and says you should study while you’re young, then hires you. You cheer about this as the episode part ends.
