The Beachside Hut and Andvara Falls Episode 1 Part 1

Narration starts off by describing Andvari’s resort in terms of its location, focusing in closer and closer until it describes your first part of the job: trash pick up. You either comment on the heat or you can mention being excited to see people in swimsuits. Goemon goes on to comment on the heat as well, and it was apparently a day like this when Goemon Original was executed. It was hotter then of course, he laughs.

Goemon then changes the subject to how much trash is around, and how customers don’t leave as much of a mess behind after a play. He’s picking up trash too and throws them into the garbage bag like he’s doing a street performance, which you are impressed by and ask if it’s one of Goemon’s memories. He doesn’t really know.

Goemon says that in a small theater, everything becomes a performance. He takes a moment to transform into a human appearance and continues to talk, bringing up that Goemon was a deserting ninja from the Iga clan in Wa no Kuni. Throwing things like this is nothing to him.

Goemon talks about how his memories as Shukaku and memories inherited from OG Goemon are both his. He can remember things as if he did them himself. He flips back to tanuki mode as he complains that he doesn’t understand what the troupe leader was talking about. Jiraiya thought he was the real deal, so wouldn’t that be a point towards him being perfect for the role?

Goemon figures he must be missing something that isn’t related to the memories. You can tell him you’re sure he’ll figure it out, suggest he’s still inexperienced as an actor, or say you want to see him perform some time. Going C, he’s excited about the idea and promises to invite you when it happens.

Some time later Goemon thinks you guys are pretty much done with the task for the moment. Since there hasn’t been a call to do anything else yet he suggests heading over to the waterfall. Not too far away, Nomad is stonewalling Aegir from moving any further, who in turn says he’s overdoing it as he calls him a security guard. His university lab department should have sent in the paperwork already.

Nomad says he’s also under orders so this isn’t anything personal. Also, he’s a detective not a security guard...even if he is a security guard at the moment. You’re surprised to see Nomad, comment on meeting Aegir again, and/or comment on how dangerous the mood is.

Aegir laughs about seeing you again and asks you to talk to Nomad for him. Nomad calls him brazen to have ignored all the signs around. Besides that, the permitted time is just about up as the research team had promised they would only do that work up until the grand opening.

Aegir tries to argue that he can’t help it if his treasure hunting instincts call to him when he senses gold. Nomad doesn’t give a single crap and says that as the tour guide for the limestone cave exploration tour, he’s refusing to let anyone not part of that activity through. You can either ask about the tour, the gold, or the cave.

Goemon stays quiet, and from off screen Andvari calls over to break things up. Nomad says that was quick of him and apologizes for calling him over. Andvari waves it off since dealing with trouble is his responsibility as the owner. Aegir starts asking him for permission to go to the limestone cave before he stops as he feels he’s heard of Andvari before. He also asks about his ring.

After thinking about it some more, Aegir recognizes Andvari and asks if he’s the same one from Andvarafors/Andvari’s Waterfall. Andvari cuts him off from saying it all by tossing a card at him, which turns out to be a stamp card. Andvari says he’ll need it if he wants to go on that tour properly. Once it’s all stamped he can get in.

Aegir reads off stuff from the card about it being used in the beach activities, the food, and the attractions for the resort. Andvari repeats that when he collects all the stamps he can go on that tour. There’s no other alternative for getting in, so it’s either play along or shut up and go home. Aegir is surprised at first before laughing and accepting. He may as well enjoy things and decides he’ll go get something to eat then.

After he leaves, Nomad is surprised Aegir backed down like that since he was sure he’d push forward. Andvari says Aegir is a professor on an investigation team, so he won’t go around causing trouble. Just in case though he’ll put more guards at the cave. Nomad says he’ll send some of Kotarou’s underlings.

Since he’s here and all, Andvari says he’ll give you a stamp card too. You can either ask about this, say you want to go on the tour, or say you don’t have any money to spend for fun. Andvari tells you it’s an employee’s stamp card, so you’ll be getting stamps for helping out. Since the place is short handed he’s using this as a way to keep morale up.

Goemon thinks the tour sounds fun, and Andvari says the tour is pretty nice. Nomad says he’s the tour guide and promises it’ll be the best tour ever. He also lets slip that he’ll be getting commission if there’s a lot of people on the tour, but he tries to cover it up. Goemon thinks about how Aegir mentioned sensing treasure earlier and wonders if there is something near the cave. He’s interested himself since he thinks it’ll help him with his role as Goemon.

Goemon talks about how excited he is and suggests you guys work hard. You’re interested in the idea too and comment on his excitement. But then you remember something about work. Seth runs over having found you and tells you guys to hurry since the meeting is about to start. Goemon freaks out a little about it, and you tell Goemon you guys better hurry, apologize to Seth, and tell Andvari you’ll be going. Andvari tells you to work hard.

Title card pops up, and this chapter is called The Sand King’s Surfer Dream On Rough Waves. The original is done up haiku style.

Scene then tunes back in as Goemon declares himself theater style, then says that while he can’t sit by if rumored treasure is around, he doesn’t have any better, flashier ideas to get to it. Stamp collecting isn’t how he should be doing it. He should be stealing those stamps! You try to calm him down by saying he’ll be fired if he causes problems, so he should do it the honest way.

Anyways you guys make it to the meeting space, where Seth is already. He says he thought you guys were lost in the beach desert. But since you made it before it got busy he can let it slide. He shouldn’t make things difficult either after all. You can then comment on how sporty his swimsuit is, ask about the float ring he has and suspect something, or ask with some trepidation about what he means by beach desert.

In A he’s embarrassed and asks if it looks good on him. He doesn’t know much about fashion so he had someone else pick it for him. Gouryou leans over to ask if you think it looks good, as he and Hanuman were the ones to pick it for him. In C Seth talks about how beaches and deserts both have sand, so they’re the same thing to him as a sand ruler. Soon he shall control the sea!

Anyways Typhon greets you, and Gouryou says he came to poke fun at Seth when he heard he had a job here. He didn’t expect to run into you too. Goemon takes interest in the fact that you know them and decides he needs to present himself. He climbs some nearby chair, poses and tries to introduce himself, except he ends up with some stage fright as he transform to human form. You either say he sucks at ad libbing, say he’s not doing that well, and/or say what he’s doing is dangerous.

Goemon says he was trying to be cool but now he’s desperately trying to think of what to say. Nomad yells as he comes out of the kitchen asking who’s acting so recklessly, which surprises Goemon into falling over. He of course falls towards you, which you can either panic about or try to catch him.

Goemon ends up getting sand in his mouth, then realizes he’s on you and asks if you’re okay. You can ask him that back, ask him to get off because he’s heavy, or hug him in the confusion. If you go with C it nearly surprises him out of his transformation. Nomad comes over and sees it’s you involved with this, then says he said that was dangerous.

Goemon blames him for making him fall in mild outrage. Since this is their second time meeting, Goemon asks Nomad his name. You either describe him as a shift leader, a do anything man, or a detective and add that you’re his assistant.

In A and B he gets annoyed and says he’s a detective. In C he reflexively insists that you’re wrong and that he’s a detective. He also tries to deny the bit about you being an assistant I think before it clicks that you called him a detective, which Goemon points out. Nomad stops with the berating out of embarrassment.

Anyways, Nomad introduces himself as a detective, but for now he’s doing a bit of everything and gives his name. He’s got some work he was asked to do, so he asks Seth to come with him. You all follow along as Nomad tells you guys you’re all on pick up duty around the beach hut for now. It’d be a problem if trash were left behind and hurts someone who steps on it. Nomad then asks Seth to teach you guys how to best do it. He also mentions that Andvari will come check later, and if you’re caught slacking you won’t get any staff meals.

Goemon protests picking up garbage again but trails off as he goes to the contrary and looks at you. You suggest getting to it, whether it be for cleaniless’s sake or only because you want to eat. Goemon agrees, and Seth notes that he seems motivated enough. He also tells you guys to be careful as he compares the beach to the desert. You talk about staying hydrated, the importance of breaks, or question this comparison again.

Time skips to a bit later as Goemon talks about some dangerous things being tossed around. Seth says odd things tend to get buried in the sand and turn up later because of the wind and waves. You can point out this included Goemon (who you refer to Dosaemon, some play on either confusion or thrown around), be perky and say you guys should clean up fireworks right, or compare this to prison labor.

Seth talks about how if you don’t pick up plastic bags, animals might mistake it for food and goes to grab something. But instead of it being a bag he ends up finding a slime jellyfish. He panics a little and takes it back to the water. It perks up happily and swims off, and Seth tells it to be careful before asking in some embarrassment why you’re looking at him like so. You either say he’s kind, treat him like a kid and pet him, or say it’s nothing.

Going A he goes defensive and tells you to fear him as the ruler of storms and oases. The slime floats around watching from the corner. Anyways some time later after finishing for the moment, you guys talk underneath some palm trees. Seth has just heard about how you got here, then talks about how he was assigned this job since he’s used to being around sand. He admits to having a different reason for getting a job by the sea though.

Gouryou pops up to say that Seth took the opportunity to learn to surf and teases him for trying to get popular. Seth is surprised by his showing up and loudly denies the popular thing. Typhon joins in and adds that Seth has a sharp body and seems approachable. Seth blushes, and you can either be shocked about the surfing thing, ask if he could swim before, or comment about them wanting another friend to go flirting together with.

Going B, Seth gets mad and claims it’s not like he couldn’t swim before. Gouryou laughs and says Seth would be fine up to the point where the water reaches his feet. Typhon starts saying he mentioned to Seth that he shouldn’t go in before he can swim, but Seth cuts him off by pinching his fin.

Anyways, Gouryou says he’s been teaching Seth how to play with the waves in the morning before work starts. Typhon thinks this is a strange turn of phrase and asks why he doesn’t just say “teach how to swim” when Seth forces him to stop again.

Gouryou points out three surfboards sitting up by some other palm trees, which Goemon thinks looks cool. Seth admits the others picked for him and doesn’t think he’s good enough to actually describe what he does as surfing. Typhon assures him that with him and Gouryou, Seth will be a heartthrob surfer in no time. You either encourage this, doubt the teachers involved, or say you hope he’ll learn to swim.

Yelling from nearby arises, with someone asking people to calm down because children are here. Also they don’t understand what’s even happening. Turns out Barguest and Kenta are here, and they’re talking to some Yaksha girl gangsters who scoff at him. They accuse them of being the culprits of whatever as no one else is around. They also have no intention of going easy on kids.

The yaksha talk about some food they made together with Sis early in the morning, including stuff like fried chicken, fried eggs, and octopus sausages, then demand compensation. You call out to Barguest, Kenta, and see the yaksha as cute oni girls.

Goemon is surprised you know those two as well and asks how famous are you. Seth says you guys will go intervene because he can’t let trouble happen on his turf (which he uses a word that happens to sound like island). You either acknowledge this and try to break things up, or you fixate on what terms Seth uses to call the beach. This leads to the episode battle, and the story continues after it.

After the battle the story picks up with you three jumping into the middle, and Barguest is surprised to see you. The fire yaksha complains about your intrusion as she glares. You ask her to calm down so that you guys can talk it out, and in the back of your head you feel her speech patterns seem familiar.

Seth says he handles anything that happens in the desert beach and asks them to talk to him and help him understand what’s going on. The yaksha look at each other and take a step back, so Barguest says he’ll go first.

Barguest explains he and Kenta came to play at the beach when the girls accused them of stealing their lunch. You are either are surprised by this, ask if Barguest really did it, or ask if Inugami did it. If you pick B he protests it and is shocked you’d doubt him too.

Anyways the yaksha speak up now and say they put their lunch out, and in the time they looked away it was all picked clean. Everything, even the sausage that their Sis complimented them on that one of them is so upset about they’re ready to cry.

One of the others tries to get her to hold it together for their pride. But back to business when they noticed that happened, Barguest and Kenta were there. Barguest denies being responsible for taking it, but the yaksha don’t believe him.

Goemon understands the situation and says he stole food in the past too. Seth asks if the girls really put their food out there. One takes offense and says there’s no sign against it, but mid rant a large bird swoops by to steal a lunch box. The yaksha are shocked by this, and Seth concedes the sign argument but draws their attention to a signboard that says “Beware of Black Kites.”

Seth explains the birds who have been fed tend to steal people’s lunches, and that the sign was put up on request by Kasai Coastal Park. The yaksha would have been fine if they had borrowed some parasols to keep them from seeing their food. The yaksha droop their shoulders while Kenta and Barguest hang their heads.

The yaksha apologize for the accusation, which Barguest waves off. Kenta tries to comfort them by giving them a pretty shell, which causes them to all fawn over him. They apologize for scaring him and invite him for shaved ice as part of it. Goemon laughs and asks Seth if things worked out. Seth drops character for a second to tell his brother he protected the ruler’s influence and says he was scared. Goemon is shocked he was bluffing.

You can tell Seth he was cool, thank him, or hug him. In A he’s surprised and tries to claim it’s only natural for him. If you go C he’s surprised and wonders if you were scared, so he tries patting you on the head as his own ears wiggle.

Anyways Barguest thanks you guys but feels like this is a result of his own bad luck in trying to bring Kenta to the beach. You can either tell him not to worry about it, frame it as Kenta getting new friends, or suggest treating him like a kid for a bit to make him feel better.

Going B, he is a bit surprised at that way of looking at it and laughs. Goemon then laughs about the issue being settled. Narration says things are taken care of, but your job has only just begun. And on that note the episode half ends.
