The Beachside Hut and Andvara Falls Episode 7 Part 2

Things pick up with the curse stream being shot at you guys, and Volos is the one to face the full brunt of the attack. He tries to tell himself he isn’t afraid as he looks closely before swinging with the stick he used for the watermelon smash games. Before contact is made though, the curse stream splits up in two on its own and disappears.

Alberich himself is shocked by this happening while Volos tries to make sense of it. Chernobog says it must be the vow from Eastern Kitezh that he heard about from travelers, the one Perun and Veles made. Tadatomo brushes past that to attack, and Alberich tries to act cool before putting up a barrier which he only has a good feeling he can actually do. The curse then bounces back Tadatomo’s attack.

Volos compares the barrier’s toughness to a pumpkin’s, and Alberich follows up with his Alberich Punch which might have the greatest power behind it. Rather than throw the punch himself though, the curse forms a fist that explodes. Seth responds by summoning a desert storm to cover you guys that blocks the impact. This also has the added effect of blinding Alberich.

Alberich asks where his gold is, and Nomad asks how the other side is doing because you guys can only buy so much time. Tadatomo reports that all the scattered treasure has been collected, and Kotarou backhand compliments him on it saying it must be true if the money grubber is saying it. Jiraiya then tells Andvari that the preparations are done so they can go whenever. The mobs are carrying treasure too and signal they’re okay as well.

Andvari says that with all the gold taken from the treasure room the next step is to take it to the highest point around. Chernobog figures that would be the top of the beach house roof. Aegir asks what the point of that is. Makara says he’ll take care of it by using his power. It’s not the normal application but he thinks he can try under the idea this is to save ‘him.’

Andvari tells Seth that the plan is going to start at the next timing. Seth understands and says he’ll hold the storm up for now until the signal is given, at which point he’ll stop obscuring Alberich’s vision for a moment. Andvari asks if that’s actually possible, so Seth says he’ll try as he’s the world famous Seth.

Some time later Alberich notices things have quieted down and wonders if everyone ran off to hide. Based on that idea he figures he should try destroying the resort to flush Andvari out. He thinks to himself that by submerging Andvari into the curse he’ll turn him into gold just like himself, which will multiply the overall amount of gold.

Alberich starts blathering about how he wants to make more gold so much that he can’t stand it, and that love or anything else can’t begin to compare to the pleasure. But then, he says he can’t stop. No matter what he does he can’t stop himself, and he calls out for anyone else to stop him.

Alberich looks away from the direction you guys are in inside the storm and looks at the resort, and that is the moment Andvari signals to Seth and Makara to move. Seth says they’ll show the lifeguards’ teamwork. The storm weakens, several large ropes fly out as Makara calls out his NP, which then attach to the highest floor of the resort.

Makara notes that this part went well and tells everyone to be careful as the next phase starts. Kotarou says his group has it covered and tells the mobs to impress the boss. Tadatomo says he’s heading out for your sake, and Jiraiya says it’s his turn to show off as he comments on everyone’s morale being high. Goemon says tightrope walking is one of his specialties and says to watch him as he tries to make a show of it. You tell him to just get on with it, so he obliges.

All the ninjas run across the ropes with the treasures as they pass by Alberich. You express amazement, tell Goemon to put away the umbrella and ball he apparently brought out, and/or tell everyone that’s left that you guys ought to keep at it too.

Alberich asks what the ropes are and figures he can just break it by grabbing them, but Aegir prevents that by firing his NP saying he knows what a giant’s weak points are and that he messed up by getting close to the water. Chernobog follows suit to freeze the ground at Alberich’s feet with his NP next.

Aegir’s anchor ties up Alberich’s feet while the frost builds up, which stops Alberich in his tracks. Aegir then tells everyone to pull him down, and you all work together to drag him off his feet. Alberich yells at Andvari over this humiliation and attempts to fire his Alberich Curse Beam. He’s then surprised to see that the curse won’t actually fire in his direction and asks where it’s going.

Andvari says he figured this would happen and says that up until now he was with the treasure. Since Alberich was after him and the curse focused on the treasure they were able to work together. Now though, the treasure is located behind Alberich, which draws the curse’s aggro. As Alberich yells about how this cannot be, Andvari calls for an all out attack.

This assault doesn’t actually hurt Alberich much as he compares it to being pinched by crabs, but he still yells at you guys to stop. Scene then shifts to the ninjas’ side as a mob reports that all the treasure has been transported. Kotarou thanks him for his work and tells the mobs to head back and evacuate while the rest of them handle things. The mob wishes him good luck before he goes.

Goemon asks what he’s supposed to do now that the treasure has been brought over to the roof. Jiraiya says he has a message from Andvari and tells Goemon to listen. Flashback occurs as Andvari says the curse of the gold works pretty much like his ring. When Goemon asks about that, Andvari says says his ring was made from the cursed gold.

As the ring is a small part of the hoard, the curse it carries is likewise small. What he’s getting at is that the curse’s power is spread out proportionately to the gold, and Andvari says the important bit is that the multiplied gold in the caves is much the same. Seth sums it up by saying that the total amount of curse going around is equal to the amount of gold in that treasure room.

Goemon says he understands but clearly does not. Tadatomo explains that the problem is that all of the gold and the curse was possessed by one person, and Jiraiya says they should solve it by making it so that it isn’t possessed by one person anymore. Goemon *still* doesn’t follow, so Jiraiya calls him slow on the uptake and says the idea is to make it so that there are more possessors.

Goemon finally picks up on the plan as he figures out that by increasing the amount of owners the curse will be dispersed and weakened. Kotarou confirms that and says there’s a lot of people here between all the employees and customers. Tadatomo says Andvari mentioned if the curse is spread that thin it’ll easily be destroyed.

Kotarou expresses some reluctance about it as he feels not many would pick it up. Jiraiya says this is Goemon’s part where he goes around throwing the gold at people. Goemon is shocked at the idea of throwing money around for real instead of pretending to. He also says Goemon’s koban coin toss isn’t just scattering it about willy nilly. His true worth was in tossing each and every piece at whoever he was aiming at.

Kotarou sighs about that idea being a bust and says that means they’ll have to shadow clone themselves and hand the gold out. People won’t become owners unless they properly get the gold after all. Tadatomo shrugs and says they’ll just have to do it since he doesn’t think an actor can do the same thing Goemon can even if they have his memories. Jiraiya is disappointed by apologizes and says they’ll handle it, and Kotarou tells him to wait for them.

Goemon starts regretting his actions and his backing off when the time for action has come, aware that he’s bragged about being the only one to have Ishikawa Goemon’s memories. He starts saying he isn’t Goemon after all when you call out to him.

Goemon rallies and reminds himself he’s a great actor and that he shouldn’t make his audience feel bad. He proclaims that he should be making people collapse from laughing, whether he’s an actor or a master thief. A voice calls out to him, impressed.

The voice talks about how Goemon played Goemon at a kabuki theater and how it’s good he had confidence in himself and tried. Shukaku figures out who’s talking to him based on that, and Ishikawa Goemon says those alone would make it difficult to succeed since this is his big scene. As such, Goemon will be the one to show him and asks to borrow his body for a moment.

Back outside, Shukaku’s kettle glows as he transforms into human form. Goemon then declares it’s his one in a lifetime show. Jiraiya recognizes that it’s the real guy in shock. Goemon recognizes him too and is surprised Kotarou is around too. Kotarou says he knew the spotlight hogger would finally show up, and Tadatomo asks if it’s really him.

Kotarou says that’s just what they’ll go with as he refers to Goemon as an equal, mentioning it’ll make things easier to understand. He then asks what they should do given that Goemon will take center stage. Goemon tells them to hand the treasure over so he can stick it in his kettle. Jiraiya warns him to not run off with it all.

Scene then shifts back to your side as Andvari yells asking if the ninjas are ready yet since you guys are struggling to keep it up for much longer. Nomad says much the same and points out that the customers are starting to form a crowd. Chernobog says they’re taking pictures and wonders why you guys are the subjects.

The signal is fired, so Volos prompts you to make your move. You acknowledge this and say it’s time to show your PR skills. Alberich asks what you guys are planning and thinks you guys intend to pull the curse from him. He’s aghast at the idea and says it’s something he could never do himself. Andvari urges you to get on with it.

You slash at Alberich, severing his ties to the curse for a moment. When it separates from him it moves about looking for someone else who’s attached to the gold. Goemon then calls out and draws attention to himself as he yells from the resort rooftop. After announcing his appearance he says he’ll distribute all the greedy gold to everyone.

Andvari takes a moment to ask if the greedy part refers to himself. Jiraiya tells Goemon to hurry as the curse is heading towards them. Goemon’s kettle glows in gold as he sticks his arm in, and he tells everyone watching to be amazed at his scattering act as he calls out his NP.

Randos marvel at the gold flying around and at how sparkly Goemon makes tossing gold off a rooftop look. They also talk about their astonishment about seeing a gold koban coin for the first time and how valuable it is in Wa no Kuni. Narration then makes a point to say that Goemon isn’t throwing around gold, but shining gold koban coins.

As he keeps throwing them around, the coins turn into particles of light as they scatter past the resort and into Tokyo. Kotarou expresses his amazement at the real deal, Tadatomo finds it all beautiful and asks if you’re seeing all this.

Jiraiya is quiet for a sec before he starts talking about Goemon’s artifact. He sees him as nothing more than a braggart throwing money around, but comments that the world sees it as salvation. It’ll turn into brilliance before passing onto someone else, which he says is the reason people call Goemon a chivalrous thief. He kinda hates that Goemon only ever saw thievery as a hobby.

Jiraiya then understands that’s why Shukaku, an actor, became the one to inherit Goemon’s memories. Being a thief or actor isn’t who they really are. It’s more that Shukaku is succeeding Goemon as someone who hands out thrills.

The sky clears as the treasure is scattered across all of Tokyo. Narration talks about Goemon being the subject of kabuki plays and how many people believe he would throw coins across all of Edo/Old Tokyo. In which case, that should become truth here in Tokyo as well. The curse disperses and disappears into the void as the gold reaches the many people who do not believe in the cursed gold of Andvara Falls.

Alberich yells about his gold scattering and how he can’t get it back anymore since he can’t tell what’s his. He laments it but wonders what else he’s feeling. Alberich realizes he’s at peace now that he no longer has to be attached to the gold. Ever since he became the gold he had wandered this world, but now he feels he can ascend to heaven.

After he disappears, Andvari wonders what his deal was. Chernobog notes that he was smiling and thinks he was happy, which he then compares to the time when Andvari smiled happily. Kotarou suggests this was his goal all along and wonders if that’s why he brought everyone to the treasure room. You wonder if he’s another side of Andvari, a doppelgänger, or his Shadow.

Andvari insists that he’s different from him, then orders everyone to pick up the coins. He never thought it’d get tossed all over Tokyo and says you guys should use it at his resort. You ask if that’s okay and cheer.

Andvari says picking it all back up is out of the question, so it’d be better to think of ways to make money. He plans on having special sales and getting the customers to cough up as much as possible, so he tells everyone to come along.

Nomad says a lot happened, but he’s happy to get the koban coins as extra income. Volos says he’s happy to receive it too but wonders if it’s actually okay to accept it. Chernobog calls Andvari generous and decides to use his as part of the hiking club’s budget to buy tools for new members.

Aegir talks about the results of his treasure hunt and considers calling it a win. He then comments that he didn’t think there’d be such a strange fate tying him to the place as he talks to Ran. It was a case of borrowing Loki’s power to dispose of some trouble she left behind, but he doesn’t think it was bad. Even if Ran disappeared before him, he feels his story with her will still go on for a while. On that note, he’s excited to see what happens next in Tokyo.

Andvari tells everyone that when they’re done with their jobs they should eat, drink, play, and spend. Then people should work hard the next day. Everyone agrees in unison, and Andvari talks to himself as he thinks about how it may be okay to think of money as something that goes around the world. Things look to be busy again, and the episode ends there to be continued in the epilogue.
