The Beachside Hut and Andvara Falls Episode 7 Part 1

Title card pops up immediately, and title is play off a line from a poem or song about Ishikawa Goemon’s death, which says that even if all the sand on a beach disappears, society will always have thieves. So I guess the title is something like The Thief Will Always Be at the Beach. Not really sure how to render it.

Anyways we pick back up from before as Aegir asks if both Andvari and Alberich have been swallowed up by the curse. Goemon is sad for Andvari as people look at the stream that carried him away. Seth says he managed to throw Andvari a life preserver or a swim tube, but he wonders where the stream connects to. Nomad hopes Andvari will be alright.

You think on it for a bit before realizing it should be the same as before and tell everyone you guys should head outside. Makara is confused, so you say you and Goemon should know where it goes as you turn to him. Goemon realizes what you mean.

Scene shifts over to the waterfall basin outside the limestone cave, which is where Andvari turns up. His initial thoughts is that it’s really dark and compares it to the underground of his home world before realizing it’s part of the resort. He’s still floating in the water along with some of the treasure he carried with him.

You guys run in, and Kotarou says Andvari seems perfectly fine aside from being dazed still. Jiraiya compliments your observation and refers to you as a future chivalrous thief. Chernobog is genuinely happy to see that he’s okay.

Andvari acknowledges you guys, and Goemon asks him how it felt to be swept out from the caves to the waterfall basin. You call out to Andvari and are glad he’s okay. Makara does a quick check and says he doesn’t see anything off about Andvari’s body but says he needs a doctor to do another check up.

Aegir questions whether this is good or bad luck or if this is something to do with the curse. He points out the gold and the coins that came here with Andvari. Andvari notes that all of it seemed to have been swept along with him. Kotarou asks if they can have a little of it because of their hard work, but Andvari snaps at him to not touch it.

Kotarou pouts a bit and asks Andvari if he knows what just happened. Andvari insists it’s all his no matter what anyone says and pulls out some bike wagon from somewhere to pile the money onto. Once he’s gathered all of it he starts running off without looking at anyone, saying he has to hide it all and that everyone should piss off to wherever.

Goemon is offended by this ungratefulness towards everyone’s concerns, though Chernobog says nothing. Kotarou asks what the rest of you guys should do, but Seth thinks the answer is obvious. Goemon agrees, but Chernobog doesn’t as he says Andvari ran away to keep the curse from affecting anyone else. You either decide to agree after a moment, doubt this and suggest he’s going overboard on spinning things positively, or say he might be on some level.

Volos seems to notice something going on, and as you guys head outside Chernobog points out that it’s dark. He says it feels like things have been sealed in and compares it to the time on Bald Mountain. Chernobog’s artifact activates, which narration points out can only work in enclosed spaces.

A buzz rings out as everyone’s phones beeps out a message about stormy weather ahead, which gets compared to a warning about the resort becoming an enclosed area. Meanwhile Alberich starts laughing about how at last after ten thousand years he is free.

Elsewhere on the beach the customers go on obliviously while Andvari pushes his cart thing like a madman. No one notices what he has because of some tarp he’s thrown over it, and Andvari tries to find somewhere to stash it all before dropping profanities about Alberich already catching up.

Alberich laughs as he calls Andvari a fool, and Andvari looks back with utter disgust on his face. He’s then baffled to see Alberich has turned giant somehow as he demands the gold back. Andvari asks how he could possibly do that since a normal dwarf can’t pull off that kind of stunt.

Alberich calls it a dumb question and answers that the gold is his everything. As such, the gold can also be considered his life, and if the curse resides in his body that will also increase in size. Alberich then admits the idea came to him and he tried it out, and since it worked out it’ll be fine. Maybe.

Andvari says ‘maybe’ is a dumb threshold for taking a curse unto yourself, but that aside this is a horrible situation. Alberich commands him to be a good boy and sit there to take his punishment. He slams both his hands down, causing the sand to shake from the impact.

Andvari almost falls over and says he’d have to file for insurance if he did. He then thinks to himself about how Alberich seems to be focused on him but doesn’t see a way out of the mess. But if that’s the case then his next concern is the customers’ safety.

Said customers do see all of this happening and interpret it to be some sort of attraction and comment on how refreshingly cool it feels out. Some yaksha even order drinks from some worker nearby. Andvari is speechless for a second at how unflappable people are but decides it means it’s fine for him to keep running.

Andvari eventually reaches the side of the resort past the beach where a construction zone for expanding the resort is set up. He gasps for air as he brushes past some No Trespassing sign and says no one should be around now. If a customer or worker got involved and sued him it would be catastrophic.

Alberich laughs and comments on Andvari being attached to the cursed gold by himself reminds him of himself. He’s sure Andvari would isolate himself and throw away his friends for the sake of money. Andvari doesn’t attempt to deny this.

Alberich goes on to say that he understands giving up wealth, fame, and love for gold. Andvari stays quiet for a bit longer before yelling that he’s not like him. He’s just afraid of having to deal with indemnities. Alberich then pushes him over with a finger, which he passes off as an accident while Andvari says it hurts a bit even if Alberich was originally weak when he was small.

The gold has also spilled over, which Alberich smiles about. He starts talking about how he and Andvari are the same, then offers to make him a witch more like so by putting the gold’s curse into him. If that happens he’ll be unable to think of anything besides the cursed gold, which Alberich thinks Andvari would like more than anything.

Andvari doesn’t respond, so Alberich starts unleashing the curse onto him, which slows him down steadily. Alberich asks why he resists and asks if he wants to become gold in mind and body. Andvari admits that up until recently he thought he’d be fine dying with his money. He doesn’t particularly care for love, but as a thought of Chernobog flashes through his head, he says he can’t bring himself to throw them all away.

Andvari also laughs at the idea of being the same as Alberich since looking at him makes him sick, so he tells him to eat a dick. He loves gold, but he also loves his ability to calculate money making. Alberich says nothing but lets loose more of the curse, and as it fills Andvari he sees a memory.

For a brief moment a memory appears in the back of Andvari’s mind. It is a memory from the past of some other world, with Alberich surrounded by treasure laughing and crying. Narration then corrects this to say it is himself. Back to the present Andvari asks if it’s a hallucination from the curse or one of Alberich’s memories. He doesn’t answer.

Andvari starts asking if Alberich is his something or other, but you cut him off as you intervene using your CS. Alberich is shocked by your arrival, and the curse you cut out from Andvari floats in the air. Goemon is impressed by the show, but then sees the curse mass mostly transfer back into Alberich.

You are surprised by this turn of events as you’re sure you severed the curse, but then tell Goemon to get to Andvari. Andvari sighs about you guys always stepping in, and Goemon tells him to hold on tight until they get to safety.

Alberich laughs saying it’s futile. So long as Andvari and he himself seeks the gold, they’ll be drawn together. He then tries to send the curse of destruction after him when notices the dark snow all around him despite it being summer. He’s alarmed as he notices it multiplying, and Chernobog steps in between Alberich and Andvari.

Chernobog says it’s fine if Andvari leaves him. Alberich decides to get Chernobog out of the way if he’ll interfere, but Chernobog casts his NP to freeze him over mid sentence. Chernobog then turns his back on Alberich, saying that no matter who he is, everyone freezes in front of the overlord. You either are amazed, compliment Chernobog, and/or call him overpowered.

Chernobog looks over to whether Andvari is and is relieved to see him okay. Andvari however yells that things aren’t over since the curse isn’t this easy to take down, then tells him to not let his guard down.

Alberich breaks out of the ice laughing, and the curse gigantifies him even further as the ice is unable to contain him. The curse then turns into a giant muddy stream and threatens to swallow Chernobog up as it shoots at him.

Alberich says it’s useless because Andvari wishes for it to be so himself. No matter how many times you disperse the curse, deep down Andvari cannot give up on the gold and his ties with it. He says that the strongest thing in any world is fate, which would mean no power can overcome it.

Chernobog is alarmed at first but calmly accepts that he can’t make it out in time. He asks you to look after Andvari and says he has no regrets. He then reconsiders and says that if there’s anything he still wanted to do, he wanted to go on another hiking trip with everyone in the club. Andvari yells at him to get out of there.

You call out to Chernobog saying you’ll come save him and tell Andvari to wait. Andvari also yells at you to not go either, unable to do anything else himself. He asks why people would throw themselves away for what should be just coworkers. Chernobog says it’s what everyone taught him, something that sits warm and bright in his chest as he looks at Andvari even with the curse stream bearing down.

Andvari yells one more time for him to run before he begs for someone, anyone to help. As you jump in to cut at the attack, Chernobog sees someone else has arrived and takes it as a sign that he’ll survive longer. At the same time the curse has been cut through, a giant tornado appears preventing the curse from moving forward.

You look to see who’s come, and Seth comments on Andvari (or you?) becoming a little bit honest. In that case, the king will extend the hand of salvation he says as he turns to you. Volos then asks if you guys are okay as he refers to Chernobog as the Overlord of Bald Mountain to the west of Kitezh. He comments that Chernobog is a lot different from what the rumors say and wonders if they could have been friends if he knew way back then.

Chernobog initially refers to Volos as the Eastern Devil Veles before correcting to Good Harvest Volos and thanking him. He’s about to get to Volos’s question when Volos himself understands and says it’s not too late, then ask him to be his friend.

Kotarou commands all the ninja mobs to stop Alberich in his tracks. Alberich calls their attacks impudent, maybe, and the rest of the event cast shows up as back up. Jiraiya says he should have been called over earlier and says this is the sort of situation he should appear in. Kotarou says you guys should wrap this up quickly since there’s work in the afternoon.

Nomad tells you guys to get a grip. All that’s left is taking care of Alberich, which should be a cinch. Seth says as a lifeguard he’ll protect you guys in the sea. It *is* way different than what he expected, but he’ll probably manage.

Seth then talks about how he won’t deny someone for liking unusable money. You can collect whatever you want, just like how he does with accessories he can’t be seen going outside with. But this is the sort of thing you can only decide yourself. You can’t go around twisting anyone else to thinking that way.

Tadatomo says he has some knowledge about reflecting curses and asks you to watch him use his secret moves. Volos tells him he shouldn’t reflect it since it’ll go back to Andvari. Makara says people shouldn’t take on everything on their own, and that it’s okay to rely on others.

Goemon laughs about how everyone is getting into it and says he should too. Aegir is in disbelief at how straightforward everyone is yet no one has a plan on how to actually win this battle. He says that the curse is strong and will reform if torn to pieces. Aegir then figures he’ll just have to think of something while beating on it. You express surprise that Aegir is helping and ask if he’s feeling guilty.

Aegir laughs and says that this time his family or friend is involved. Their things is his things, so their mistake is his mistake. At the very least he feels he should show his adaptability to associating with all sorts of people and generosity. Alberich then yells that the gold is his. Andvari looks at him and feels as if he were looking at himself.

Seth asks for instructions after a bit as he says his storm can’t hold up for much longer. Kotarou notes that the curse is building up even more and that his body is getting heavier. Jiraiya asks if anyone has an idea, so Nomad says they should ask Andvari.

Andvari says that as owner, he’s putting out an order to deal with their business obstruction. You ask him what’s going on all of a sudden, so he says he has an idea but it’ll need everyone’s help. He calls everyone his immediately effective fighting force and tells you all to do well as he expects. If all goes well he’ll pay a special bonus. It’ll be a huge loss otherwise if the place gets closed down.

Andvari laughs at the idea of some golden caves and says it can’t compare to money management techniques and interest from this world. Kotarou laughs about Andvari getting back to normal, and Alberich seems to have lost sight of Andvari as he calls out for him. Andvari says that the first plan of action is to get his attention focused to where you guys are, then tells everyone to move out. You call to everyone and either say you’ll blow the curse away or say it’s your guys’ turn as the episode battle starts.
