Seaside Fashionista Episode 1 Part 4

We pick back up from before as Ashigara is looking gobsmacked at the shoulder pad gun and comments how the things in Arachne’s shop are different from the other shops and just bizarre. Daisuke says he likes the stuff personally, and if he were a certain wrestler he’d call it novel. Pretty much all of the jocks are looking at the crazy centerpieces Arachne has put out.

Daisuke points to one thing and says it can come in black, and since it has a hood it could make for a good heel costume. Gunzou laughs and says he talks just like Taurus Mask. He flinches at the comment but does his best to roll with it. At this point Gunzou finally notices the price tag and draws everyone’s attention to it. Daisuke counts four zeros before he stops bothering and says there’s a lot of them.

Arachne proudly says that it’s only natural as it’s made with the finest materials and gimmicks. She doesn’t think the price is that high though, since she’s aiming to make the highest end clothing.

Neither Gunzou or Daisuke have a response, and Ashigara says it’s out of his price range, even if he does think it’s cool. Kyuuma adds that it feels like all the jocks are low on money doing their sports between juice and equipment and stuff. Durga comments that she’s only found fancy clothes there, which is nice and all but she asks if there’s any sports casual type of stuff.

Arachne is surprised by this turn of events, and Mineaki suggests checking out the other stores and seeing if they have stuff the students might like. The jocks all leave looking reluctant to go, though Wakan Tanka stays behind long enough to comment on the clothes, saying they’re wonderful. He says he can see the love their creator put into them.

Arachne is surprised by this too and wonders if Wakan understands her brand work. Wakan answers that he’s unfamiliar with designs and such, but he can pick up on the feelings infused into the clothes. Arachne figures this means he’s going to buy something and offers to bag it right away, then asks if he’ll pay by card.

Wakan Tanka sadly turns her down and says it’s also the reason that he feels he can’t buy any of them for himself. When asked about that, he says that the feelings in the clothes “aren’t directed at him.” Also he doesn’t have the money either. He just wanted to tell her he could feel the emotions he picked up on. Then he leaves with the rest of the jocks.

Arachne is left baffled, and Tsathoggua attempts to cheer her up by pointing out that the Yoyogi students did compliment her on her work. She still dramatically collapses. You point out that the jocks said that there weren’t any casual clothes around and that the price tags are too high.

Arachne pops back up and tries to argue that sports casual isn’t part of the trends this year. She also starts muttering to herself about how she tried to economize on the presentation.

Gabriel starts squealing about finding something she’s in love with, how original it is, and how it’d make for a great new stage outfit. Maria says it does look beautiful but points out it looks cumbersome to move in. She suggests something else and asks what Gabriel thinks. Gabriel calls it plain, which is fine but it doesn’t stand out.

Zabaniya is just standing there when Gabriel drags him out of the corner to go look at stuff. He’s more surprised she did that before he could react, then tries to turn down her suggestion. Arslan joins in just as quickly and suggests some party vest he found could be good as a ceremonial vest too. Zabaniya turns that too saying her prefers something more tense.

Arslan tries wheedling Zabaniya into relaxing a bit when shooting down ideas. Zabaniya expresses the opinion that clothes are an expression of the role, social position, and social class amongst other things given to a person. In which case he feels what he has is good enough for that already. He doesn’t think he needs anything else.

Arslan hams up his disappointment a bit about how he thought Zabaniya had loosened up. Gabriel is quiet for a sec, then asks Zabaniya to try on the vest. He tries refusing again, but Gabriel tries saying that since it was picked out for him, he might learn something by putting it on.

Before Zabaniya can fully respond to that, Arachne slides in to try to make a sale, calling it one of their recommended products. Gabriel is sure Zabaniya would look great in it, then asks Arachne if the she thinks so too. Arachne is impressed Gabriel has figured her out as the maker of it, then says the vest would go well with any top or bottom piece. It’s a miracle collaboration between her skills and the best possible materials.

Arachne also tries to recommend some other pieces, which starts scaring Gabriel. Zabaniya puts his foot down to say no, but before that goes much further Maria comes over to ask why Gabriel suddenly went quiet. Gabriel suddenly apologizes to Arachne and claims that they have to go. She waves for the rest of the Missionaries to come along to all their collective surprises.

Arslan wonders what just happened and asks if Maria knows if there was something up with Gabriel. She doesn’t but she wonders if Gabriel felt something, something she picked up on as a professional with words. Arslan isn’t any more enlightened by that, but asks Maria to go support her. Maria says she will. Zabaniya wonders what it is Gabriel wants him to see.

After the Missionaries leave, Arachne is left standing there in shock. Tsathoggua tries to bring her back to earth, and you wonder what just happened and if there’s any clue to that. Arachne tunes back in to say she doesn’t know and asks if she said something wrong. She’s still reeling that her handmade works aren’t selling.

Arachne then tries focusing on the fact that there are still customers around. Suzuka walks over commenting on the variety of things in the shop as she looks around. She eventually picks up a swimsuit that’s a bit different than the one she saw online, but still not a bad thing on its own. She also expresses regret in not making it in time for DelCover’s new product.

Ibaraki runs over to ask about the swimsuit Suzuka picked up. After looking at it he says he thinks it might be too adult for her. She protests in shock that a high school girl like her can wear something like that. Ibaraki figures if she did wear a suit more like her, it’d smack, snap, and clang.

Suzuka then asks what he thinks of a different swimsuit. Tetsugyuu walks over and says he thinks it’s a bit different than what he’d figure she’d pick. More whooshing, slashing, and clanging. Suzuka snaps at them wondering what sort of image they have of her and calls them useless for giving feedback.

Ibaraki then says that frankly, they don’t really want her to wear something flashy or flirty. Tetsugyuu agrees saying her dignity has an effect on their turf and that Suzuka is practically the face of their territory. Suzuka is surprised by this but doesn’t argue the point since they seem so insistent on it.

Ibaraki suggests it’d be faster to just look at clothes stores closer to base to find stuff Suzuka would look good in. She agrees, saying she might have been carried away a bit. Ibaraki and Tetsugyuu both proclaim that there isn’t anything in Arachne’s store that Suzuka would look good in. Suzuka gets a little offended and says she knows, and she repeats the point herself trying to convince herself to agree.

Gyoubu comments sadly that it looks like Suzuka won’t be getting that chance to blossom. Tetsuya calls the two guys thoughtless dopes, though he admits to being the same. They’re both surprised when Arachne walks up to take personal offense over the others saying there’s nothing that looks good on them.

Ibaraki gets defensive, but Arachne tells him to shut his mouth as she describes him as wearing a papier mâché uniform. He asks what she means, so she says that while it looks powerful, the design is too strong and it’s more like Ibaraki is the one being worn rather than the clothes. Having him of all people criticizing her work makes her want to puke up silk.

Ibaraki is unable to come up with a response when she says that all it shows is power and that it leaves out the important things. You either observe that Ibaraki has gotten depressed and wonder if Arachne hit a sore spot, or try to reign Arachne in.

Tsathoggua doesn’t quite understand where she’s going with her comments but he does tries to get Arachne to calm down. Suzuka says she won’t argue that Ibaraki and Tetsugyuu weren’t rude, but she can’t ignore some of the things Arachne said out of a matter of pride. The two tried their best, so she won’t stand for anyone making light of them.

Arachne feels the same way about her work, and whether it’s the mafia or a muffin saying it means nothing to her. She sewed her way her one thread at a time here with pride. It seems like both of them will turn the shop into a war zone, so you try to stop them from launching into a fight. Both still glare at each other when Tetsuya and Gyoubu step into the middle to try to defuse the situation.

Tetsuya tells Suzuka to stop since they’re the ones who should be apologizing first. Gyoubu then does so on behalf of the Outlaws. After the two are pulled away, Tetsuya whispers to you to apologize for the intrusion and swears to repay you guys sometime.

Ibaraki and Tetsugyuu still try to protest any innocence of causing offense but are dragged out by the ears. Gyoubu then wishes you guys good luck in business as he excuses himself. Suzuka is the last to leave, quiet but seemingly disappointed.

After the Outlaws leave, the nerve evaporates from Arachne as she collapses to her knees and hangs her head. She whines that she just wanted someone to give her work recognition, and yet the world won’t do so. You either suggest she try researching the market place, try lowering the prices, or say she shouldn’t fight with customers.

Arachne apologizes after a moment, then tries to rally herself feeling she can make things work if she puts in more effort. Tsathoggua then awkwardly tells her it’s almost time to close for the day. She’s shocked to hear that and begs for a bit more time to sell something at least before it’s over.

At this point the Crafters come by to visit, and Amatsumara asks if something is going on after he comes in. He’s surprised to see you there, and you can either respond by being surprised to see him, greeting him and saying it’s been a while, or hug him.

In A and B, Amatsumara talks about seeing the pic you posted on the app and came to see it himself, then asks if you’re still on the job. Arachne quickly pulls herself together to say you guys are still open. You cheer her on, and Arachne says the closing up can be put off for a bit while you guys hopefully get a sale in.

Arachne still has a minor case of nerves as she goes up to ask what Amatsumara is looking for. He acts like this is a strange question to be asking and says he came to buy some clothes. Tsathoggua says it’s terrible that Arachne is a bit disorganized from the earlier shock.

Kurogane notices Tsathoggua and asks you to introduce them to each other. Though he also says he’s more here to look at Tsathoggua’s suit and asks to look at it closer. Tsathoggua for his part a little confused and weirded out by this interest.

Amatsumara tells Kurogane to calm down because there’s an order to things that has to be observed. He can go see after Amatsumara is done talking to Arachne. Kurogane nods to this. Amatsumara then says that Arachne’s work is pretty great. He doesn’t know much about needlework, but he can see that much.

Arachne is delighted he’d say so, then says anything she puts her effort into would of course be good. But she still feels embarrassed to have someone say it so directly to her. He comments on how more easily she’s brought to tears than he expected.

Arachne then makes the observation that Amatsumara seems to be a smith of some sort, so that must be why he’s so observant. She’s about to bring out all her works or something before she stops herself to focus on things now.

Amatsumara comments on her mentioning it being natural for a pro, then says it’s only a part of it, making the episode title drop. He then asks if the suit she made is only an order she took. You say it is a suit that Gyumao ordered for Tsathoggua.

Arachne answers after a beat that she doesn’t know what he’s getting at. She did fulfill the order she was given and all, but Amatsumara asks if that’s all there was to it. He says she should have been given one request at the time. It’s because of this additional order that the suit came about, according to Amatsumara’s eyes. It’s also the one difference between the suit, which got so much attention, and everything else in the store.

Arachne doesn’t answer, and you ask Amatsumara about him noticing that. You wonder if it’s his training as an artisan and say he could just say it outright already. He says he did notice it automatically since he’s a craftsman and all, but this isn’t something he can teach. It’s something that has to be figured out.

Amatsumara then says he saw the fuss that happened earlier, and Arachne asks if he stood outside the whole time watching. She accuses him of having terrible hobbies and asks if he came to laugh at her. He seems surprised, but then laughs it off and says he wasn’t trying to be that much of a jerk.

Amatsumara says he can’t leave an artisan who’s been hurt when he sees them, which he puts down to his personality. He then offers a proposition. Arachne asks what kind it is and tries to preempt any sort of request that isn’t related to clothes, but Amatsumara asks her to make something for all the groups that came in today.

Arachne is confused by this and asks him why she’d do something so pointless. Amatsumara says whether it really is pointless will depend on her. It might help her figure out why Tsathoggua’s suit turned out to be a nice piece of work. He thinks it’s much more meaningful than all the works around her that she can’t sell.

Amatsumara says that if she figures that out, he’ll come back. If that time comes, he’ll place an order too. He and the Crafters then leave, and Arachne waves them goodbye. After that, she yells angrily about this being a challenge to her. You either comment on her being competitive or say it seems more like Amatsumara is trying to guide her.

Arachne decides to tell you what her fashion philosophy is since it’s the event and all. That philosophy is: if you look down on it I’ll make you wear it. Tsathoggua seems to sigh internally at that, then comes forward with his own suggestion. She’s surprised by this.

Tsathoggua’s suggestion is that, at any point during the event, Arachne reconsiders her lineup of products. She asks if he’s ordering it as the event sponsor or if Gyumao put him up to it. Tsathoggua tells her it’s just his wish as a friend who got a real nice suit from her, which surprises her again a little.

Arachne then says she’ll agree. If it were an order she would have scoffed it off, but a friend’s suggestion might get some consideration. So if there is something to rethink, she’ll be sure to get it in a clean sweep. On that note, she asks you to take you to all the groups here earlier. Arachne swears to make them accept her clothes, and she also asks you to take pics to upload with the hashtag.

Tsathoggua is surprised that she’ll be making you work so hard, which means he can’t just sit at home by himself. Arachne asks him to come along so that they can go see the customers tomorrow up and early, as the request from a friend ❤. He flops over to moan about how his plans for a self-indulgent summer is going down the tube. The episode ends as narration says it’s the start of a new adventure for you.
