Halloween Jiangshi Night Episode 1 Part 1

Things dial back a few minutes from where the prologue left off as Li Chou makes a show of his actions in lighting the incense. It continues as it did before until narration deviates a little by expounding on how quickly the smoke spreads out in the gym. Benten is excited by this turn of events and takes a couple of selfies. Gouryou is baffled she’d do so since the smoke is so thick it shouldn’t be possible to see anything.

Nezha reacts as they say they’ve picked up a response on their sensor for people they have to go destroy. Nezha can’t see any better either though and is left wondering what to do. Hanuman coughs on the smoke and says even ninjas don’t use so much for smokescreens. As smoke continues billowing up, the audience’s expectations build up. From the corner of people’s eyes, shadows start appearing. Then a girl screams about being attacked.

Title card pops up, and this episode is called Enthusiastic Performance! Dramatic Ad Lib Night.

Things tune back in instantly as you note in surprise the yelling. As that rings out, the commotion suddenly stops. The smoke clears as moaning arises, then the jiangshi mobs pop out yelling happy Halloween as they jump at the audience. Tetsugyuu asks what’s happening and wonders if monsters really have come back to life. Hanuman directs everyone’s attention to what’s happening, which then cuts to the mobs tickling randos. The randos give the jiangshi candy, but for some reason they don’t stop.

Narration compares what’s happening to pandemonium. You either say it’s all awful and that there are limits to how far pranks can go, or you’re confused that the dead have come back to play jokes. Tetsugyuu says that he doesn’t know much about Halloween but asks you whether this is overdoing it. Hanuman is surprised and wonders what Li Chou is thinking.

Benten comments that she thinks of this as rock, but feels that it’s a bit too chaotic. There’s supposed to be some limits even with rock, then she turns to Gouryou and asks if he’s listening. Gouryou isn’t as he’s more focused on the fact that he noticed the faint smell of something strange.

Anyways the mobs continue laughing and yelling trick or treat. Li Chou makes a weak attempt to talk them out of thing, face paling at how out of control and out of his expectations things have gotten. The mobs continue tickling randos who don’t get why they aren’t stopping when given candy. Li then yells a bit louder that he didn’t tell the mobs to go that far. He also points out that they’re making the trick or treat thing pointless.

Li Chou starts talking to himself how things are turning into a failure between the extra smoke and the jiangshi rampage, but a couple of them pop out at him and startle him into falling off the stage. As things continue, you somehow get separated from Tetsugyuu in the chaos. Nezha laughs and says the smoke is abnormal since he can’t see through it with his eyes/sensor.

Somewhere else in the gym Hanuman yells that something jumped out at him. Then he realizes he’s been separated and calls out to Nezha and Tetsugyuu. You notice you’ve been separated too, but you hear Hanuman and call out to him. Hanuman says he can sense something with his sixth sense and runs over, telling you to grab onto him. He then quickly tells you to not grab his tail.

As you guys have lost track of the rest of the party, Hanuman tells you to not let go of him no matter what. You say you understand and can grab even harder onto his tail. If you do choose B, Hanuman has an extra line about how his tail is delicate and asks you to be more gentle. Anyways he says you guys should head outside, but he realizes he doesn’t know where the exit is.

Li Chou calls out trying to calm the audience and claims it’s all a show as he approaches you guys. You recognize his voice and say he’s getting closer, and Hanuman recognizes Li’s voice too. Li hears you guys and boasts about being a poet from Hourai and the festival executive before realizing he doesn’t have time for that. Then he begs for anyone to listen to him as he can’t see and doesn’t immediately recognize Hanuman.

At this point the smoke dispersal mechanism in the gym kick in and clears it up. Hanuman notes the smoke being gone and says he’s finally met Li Chou for the moment. Li however is less than pleased as he calls Hanuman the enemy of order and authority and a middle school problem child that he’s run into now of all times.

Hanuman calls that mean and tries to say they’re famous for being buddies. Li says he just chases after him every day because Hanuman skips classes. Li also calls himself an aloof poet genius who doesn’t need friends like him. Hanuman objects to him saying that too, saying he has a lot of things about school he wants to keep private.

Anyways Li Chou says he has to do something about the situation. You either ask about this being some sort of performance, ask him to explain, or tell him to calm down. Li tells you to butt out of his problems before backtracking and claiming there’s no problem at all.

Meanwhile the jiangshi are still at it and have taken away almost all of some maid’s ninja boyfriend’s clothes. He attempts to fight them off before they take the one thing he can’t take off. Hanuman and Li are speechless, and you point out things have already escalated into an incident.

Li Chou tries framing things as a failure twisting around into a success. Hanuman says he doesn’t get what Li’s saying but points out others don’t seem to think so. Audience randos start begging Li to do something, though one notes he got mixed up with the mess earlier and wonder if he’s okay. One jiangshi starts calling for him too in zombie speak.

Li Chou starts freaking out about how badly things have gotten. Hanuman says he gets what the audience is thinking but finds it odd some of the jiangshi are agreeing. You wonder if they’re cheering or drunk on the mood. Li stays quiet before running back to the stage, not paying Hanuman any mind when he calls after him.

Li stands there in silence, and the audience takes notice. It takes them a moment to recognize him, and they start asking if he’s properly explained the limits of things to the mobs. As attention focuses on him, he starts thinking that this isn’t a failure and that he should explain things to the audience.

As Li thinks on it some more he has a flashback to his time on Hourai. The audience is confused he’s not saying anything, but one notices that he’s sweating bullets. Even a jiangshi expresses some concern through zombie speech.

Li is caught up in some stage fright unable to say anything and worrying about this becoming a failure. He also dwells on thinking about how he was going to make Tokyo and Umamichi recognize his talents this time around. He was supposed to have left his doubts and laziness behind, but he curses his inability to do something now.

Hanuman worries for Li Chou and is about to do something when Sanat Kumara flies in and lands in front of Li. He introduces himself and declares he’ll look after the situation for now. His sheer awe inspiring presence causes everyone to hold still. You ask who he is and where he came from, or you can say he’s *so cool.*

If you go with C there’s an extra line where Sanat Kumara is surprised by your reaction. Hanuman points out who he is and says Sanat is a high school third year and a conglomerate bancho that all the students know. You are surprised he’s the bancho for more than one school and that there’s a bancho in this day and age.

Sanat Kumara asks Li Chou if this is the path that he chose to take, only turning his head to look at him with his golden eyes. Li shakes and stammers that it isn’t, so Sanat asks why he didn’t call for him. Li answers that it’s his own work. It’s his job and all, and Sanat eventually tells him he accepts that answer.

Sanat Kumara makes a declaration of recognizing his courage in answering, then tells him to show him he can handle this mess on his own. At the very least as his senpai, Sanat will help by clearing away any obstacles on his path. You suggest evacuating for now and leaving the details for later, or you can comment on how passionate Sanat is.

Hanuman says he wants to meet up with Nezha and Tetsugyuu. He’s worried that leaving them alone will complicate things even more. Sanat Kumara addresses Hanuman, referring to him as a second year middle schooler. He says he’s heard everything and says he can see the strong bonds of youth that ties them.

Sanat Kumara then says he’ll entrust those two to Hanuman and has faith he can catch up to them by himself. He tells him to leave this place to himself and to you. Hanuman seems touched and asks you guys to handle things. You say it’ll be fine and tell him to go on.

Hanuman smiles as he focuses strength into his legs before making a super jump he calls a part of his ninjutsu, launching himself over the crowd. Sanat Kumara starts mentioning that he has a lot he wants to say but focuses on the solution to things at hand. As such he asks if they’ll make way for him.

The crowd parts silently for him, a bit intimidated by him and accepting the offer of an explanation coming later. Sanat Kumara thanks them and promises to keep to his gang’s code. At that point the jiangshi pop up again going trick or festival exec. They moan like they’ve lost their sanity, and Li Chou freaks out as they go for him.

Sanat Kumara is surprised the mobs ignored him to go after Li, but he considers this to be a rite of passage and tells Li to handle it. He’ll guard the other audience members, so Li should guard you. Then he challenges him to follow after him.

Li Chou agrees before wondering why he’s been stuck looking after you. He figures since you’re Hanuman’s friend Hanuman should be doing that. You either say you’ll be counting on him, say you’ll help, or tell him to follow you. He doesn’t quite get it, but he tells you not to get in the way and launches the episode battle.
