Valentine Festival! Episode 6 Part 1

Things begin with a flashback narration from Behemoth. After he and Leviathan ended their battle Behemoth fell down and waited for the end. Ultimately he wasn’t able to figure out a way to bypass his power and taste anything. All he ended up doing was struggle and cause Ziz suffering.

That was how he lived, walled in with tearful memories and looking up at Eden. He was always captivated by the sight of it, and he thought of himself as stuck dancing to the tune of his assigned destiny. Behemoth then describes Gehenna as outside the walls and Eden as inside, themselves as the ones who end and the ones being offered, and the people of Eden as the ones who continue and take offerings.

Behemoth describes his world as always having been split in two. The same goes for his fate. He always resisted it. He was always trapped by it. By fate, and by the sealed up world with the only ending being “two becomes one.” He always believed their fates were either “be a sacrifice,” or “don’t.”

But then Behemoth says he didn’t know yet of the world in between above and below, right and wrong. If he had concentrated, he could have seen the gradations between two choices. He could have seen the boundless world outside Eden and Gehenna. There never was a choice of only two things. He just made walls of his own, walls inside himself. He eventually learned that beyond the rainbow, but that’s a story for another day. But at this point, the light of summoning took him, showing him to the nuanced world away.

Title card pops up, and this chapter is called O Beast! Help Yourself to the Future!

Things tune back to the present as Kenta keeps throwing candy for Behemoth alongside the Evil. Behemoth says it isn’t working, and with himself being so big things need even more flavor. You throw in Shinya’s chocolate, and when Behemoth sucks it up he loudly proclaims how good it is.

Elsewhere Hougen is impressed you guys managed to get Behemoth’s mind back under control while he’s making a ring with his fingers. The mob cops are directing event goers out in the meantime. He says now has to be the time to evacuate people, and Nomad gets onto the loudspeaker system to make up a cover story. He tells everyone that Behemoth is being moved for the next event happening, and that the DIY corner is unavailable for now, so he apologizes and tells everyone to follow the cops.

Some mage girl questions all the surprises happening, and a cop asks her to please understand. Tajikarao asks that everyone keeps on an orderly manner, then gets a phone call from the command group. He reports about the evacuation in progress, and scene switches to Shirou. He says he understands, then asks if Ryouta got through on his call.

Ryouta answers yes and that everyone Shirou picked out is in. He wonders if this will work though. Shirou says it has to and that time isn’t on their side. He also wonders how much time they have left.

Azazel activates his ability, then says no one has been thrown off. You and Kenta and the Evil are still okay. Shirou apologizes to him for making him act like a telescope, but Azazel says it’s fine since he wants to see where sacrificial offerings go for himself.

Azazel says that if anything is a problem, it’d be how the Purple Evil is eating candy. Shirou freaks out a bit and tries to make excuses for it, and Azazel says it’s the ones who can’t hold back their desires who are lovely. He’s sure Nyarlathotep would agree.

Speaking of whom, Azazel says he’s heard that everyone called in to help is together now. Shirou is surprised at how fast that was, so Azazel explains having a messenger who can teleport would be best. Even so, Nyarlathotep is making an effort. Azazel questions where it’s because of the commotion or if it’s because he wants to look good for Azathoth.

Shirou gets a call and asks how things are on their side. He thinks quantity will be the deciding factor here and is counting on them. On the other end is Chouji, part of the cooking group. He says everyone there is checking on their share of the work, which Shinya says needs to be done since the methods matter to making sweets.

Whatever Shirou says to Chouji, he says he understands and that they’ll start working right away. Chouji is motivated for this as a matter of pride for the other day and gets ready. Kamui says some of the ingredients are running low and that they might run out in the middle of cooking, but Chouji says that arrangements have been made.

Anyways Chouji says that he, Shinya, and I assume Kamui are supporting here. Shinya explains that they’ll bring ingredients and tools, help with cooking, and carry out whatever’s done. Marchosias comments on everyone who made something Behemoth could taste being gathered here.

Touji finds it weird to be over here instead of being ready to fight, though he doesn’t doubt the assignment. He also asks about having to make chocolate for a new friend. Surtr has no doubts and is all in on helping you here. Shino is embarrassed about being asked to make his sweets again but he’s willing to do it for you. Chouji then says it’s time to start working.

Scene shifts to Kengo as he asks if this is everyone put on battle duty, though he says most people were sent to cook. Moritaka hopes Kenta is okay and also hopes that Kenta will brush him again. Ibaraki comes in having flipped on his power boost, and his big reason for helping is that Behemoth ate the chocolate he made. He says he can’t leave without making a new one, and Behemoth currently makes that impossible.

Harlot is also part of the battle group, though she’s baffled by this decision since she thinks she should cook too. Ibaraki asks if she’s serious since the goal isn’t to make Behemoth fatter. Harlot turns out to know Ibaraki and messes with him by asking ‘her’ how he is since she thinks it’s cute how he squirms with his terrible attempt of a charade.

Moritaka says something is happening, and Behemoth is close to cracking again. You ask Kenta if he has any candy left, but he’s run out. Behemoth tries to tell you to run, but then he starts swelling up quickly, sucking up sweets like a vacuum.

Shirou tells you not to get sucked in since he’s not sure if Behemoth’s mouth will turn you into energy. You say you know, then either tell Kenta or the Evil to hold on tight. As Behemoth’s breath pulls you in like a whirlpool, Inugami starts getting dragged in.

Kenta explains what Barguest told him about Inugami being like a ghost. In a flashback, Barguest says it seems to have been created through a specific ritual where a dog is starved while food is place before it until eventually it is beheaded. He compares it to pipe foxes/kudagitsune from Wa no Kuni.

Anyways, Inugami has a head and it looks as it did when it was alive. It’s now less an animal with a body and more a spirit with strong feelings forming it, and as such it lives by feeding on formless things. Things like someone’s mind or spirit. It was made to curse someone.

Barguest says he wants Kenta to remember that Inugami was created to curse someone, just like how Barguest was made to bring misfortune. Inugami might have been made to curse a lot of people, like how Barguest affects a lot of people. Because of that, some sort of ruling drove him out of Eastern Tokyo to create some paradise for the guiltless.

But even so, Barguest says now he doesn’t believe that being born a certain way determines how your life goes. He and Inugami met Kenta, and Inugami took him out of his home and raised him. Barguest admits that maybe Kenta doesn’t have the thoughts or feelings that Inugami eats and that he might be used as a lure, but he doesn’t want Kenta to think that being born to unlucky circumstances dooms you for life.

Flashback ends as Kenta says Inugami is Inugami no matter what. Inugami wraps itself around Kenta’s head as the two of them smile. Behemoth has some moment of clarity as he says Inugami is the same as him, but the moment doesn’t last.

You say that the suction is getting stronger and that you won’t be able to hold on much longer. Kengo yells out telling you to keep holding out a bit longer as he slips through the shockwaves being made. He asks Ibaraki to help, and he agrees before remembering he’s not supposed to respond to his real name. Ibaraki throws several rocks ahead to block the shockwaves, and the rest of the battle team moves forward.

Kengo tries using his CS, but Behemoth’s mouth responds by letting off a strange light. The thunder Kengo shoots out gets sucked in as energy and nullified to his shock, and Harlot calls him stupid for not seeing this coming.

Since direct attacks won’t work, Moritaka asks Harlot to use her ability at Behemoth’s feet. She sees where he’s going with that and agrees to the plan, using her NP to pour liquid onto the floor. Moritaka follows up with his own NP to create a puddle on the floor that Behemoth slips on. Shirou then signals you to come down with Kenta and the Evil(s). Kenta is scared of the height involved, but Shirou says the rescue group is ready to help and to trust them. You agree and talk to the kids about going.

As you jump down, Tetsugyuu gets excited about finally having some action and uses his NP to create a tornado from his axe to catch you guys. Suzuka and Tadatomo move to your landing spot with a net stretched between them, and they manage to get you and the Evil. You can then thank either Tetsugyuu, Suzuka, or Tadatomo.

In B Suzuka calls you annoying for making her help so much, but she approves of you working to keep the kids safe. In C Tadatomo is pleased and says he’d jump into any fire or water if you were in danger. Anyways Harlot calls the Evil cute and says they should go somewhere safe before noticing them being upset.

Tetsuya asks Tetsugyuu about Kenta, though he’s surprised and doesn’t know. Harlot sees Kenta, who got caught and tripped on Behemoth’s body during the jump. He’s barely hanging on and Suzuka tells Tetsugyuu to do his thing again, but Tadatomo says it won’t reach him in time.

Ebisu comes in to help, using his NP to catch Kenta and pull him back up into the air. Kengo and Moritaka run out to catch him, and you can then thank one of the three. In A, Ebisu says it’s thanks to you that he became able to use his rod with some confidence. In C Moritaka laughs it off and says he had been training, so this isn’t a big deal for him.

Moritaka asks Kenta if he’s alright, who’s clinging to him and shaking. Moritaka says it’s alright now, and Kenta apologizes about not having the candy for everyone anymore. Kengo complains about that not mattering and says he hates kids, though he still pats Kenta on the head. He then tells Moritaka to take Kenta to Shirou.

Azazel then announces that everyone has been safely evacuated. Shirou is relieved, and Ryouta says all that’s left is to calm Behemoth down. Given that he’s rampaging, he turns to Shirou for any ideas. Shirou calls the cooking group to see how they’re doing.

Chouji says the sweets are done but he still has a problem. That is to say, he’s thinking of writing his brand name on them and can’t find the pen or whatever. Shirou in shock says no one cares and tells him to send it to Kengo’s group. Ryouta comments that Chouji sometimes has odd hang ups as a cook.

Some time later, Surtr, Shino, and Touji arrive with their stuff. Surtr says you guys did good, Shino decides Moritaka and Tadatomo did well enough for a compliment, and Touji asks how anyone is supposed to get all this to Behemoth’s mouth with all the shockwaves.

Ziz takes action here and says she’ll take care of it. She makes a dome with her feathers to cover Behemoth, leaving an opening for his mouth. You thank her and start chucking things at him. Behemoth calms down after eating it, then is taken aback by what he’s done. Hougen says to keep things coming or else Behemoth might go crazy again, so Kengo and Tadatomo help out with throwing them in. Tadatomo even takes this as a chance to show off for you.

You cheer about Behemoth being brought back to sanity, and you can even hug him. He thanks you and everyone for helping him, then asks Ziz what’s the next part of the plan. Ryouta says that with his sanity back the next bit is obvious. You either signal to the gang or turn to Ziz, and she says it’s time to exercise.

Behemoth tries to protest given his current state, but Ziz says she’ll protect everyone with her wings. She also says she knows how kind he is and how he didn’t want her to be sad since they’ve always held onto their pain. She admits she always wore her sadness on her face. Since they’ve never been able to stop his appetite/role so that he could have his dream come true, they thought that they couldn’t change their fates.

But now, she’s realized she’s smiled for real a lot here in Tokyo. And so has Behemoth. They had fun with all the new experiences that they forgot about their roles for a bit. And even now she’s thinking less about this dance as a way to slim down Behemoth and more as a way to enjoy being with everyone.

Ziz says she wants to see more things here in Tokyo. She doesn’t know what will happen with their roles, and maybe they’ll come to the same end. However, that’s not all there is to them. Narration says everyone carries something on their back and will one day die, but today they’ll smile and move onto tomorrow.

Surtr says everyone fears taking the first step, but there isn’t a need to. He says they shouldn’t either, and that his children always strive to exercise. He strips off and says that it’s never too late to exercise, then encourages him to take that first step. Behemoth laughs and gives a thumbs up to Ziz, then says he’ll try whatever he can in Tokyo.

Nomad comes in and says it’s the last work out of the day as he changes into his workout coach clothes. The stage behind him lights up as Nyarlathotep readies his mix table. Azathoth just laughs and tells him to keep going. Once the record is put in, Gabriel shows herself for a surprise concert, and everyone gets ready for the episode battle to start.
