Mystic Christmas Episode 1 Part 1

Things begin over at the Santa School front as Ryouta calling over to Yule and Krampus to say they’ve come to help. The two walk up as Yule welcomes the guys while Krampus comments on how the gang is always involved with some sort of event.

Moritaka introduces himself to them since this would be the first time the game’s shown him talking with the guys. He also says he hopes to repay for all the times he got presents from Santa. Yule says Moritaka is polite as he takes his turn at introducing himself, followed by Krampus. Moritaka observes that Krampus is imposing but kind looking.

Touji notes that aside from all the sleighs at the Santa School it’s not that different from any other school. Kengo says sleigh riding is plenty notable in itself before asking if they’re gonna be prepping right there. Krampus says it’ll be happening at the Bukuro Sports Arena and apparently they have racing stuff over there. Yule says that there are more visitors every year so they’ll need that kind of space to keep things going.

Krampus informs the guys that a mass transit sleigh will be coming soon to take them all over. Ryouta is shocked at how big the Santa event has gotten, so Yule says that’s because that’s how much people believe in Santa. He also feels he’ll need to work hard and be like Ded.

Moritaka notes that given how Yule and Krampus are acting they probably don’t know about the prankster Santa. Touji says the police are split in whether to believe it still and hopes the case will be solved before it gets any bigger. Kengo says without any leads it’d be pointless to bring it up, so they ought to focus on helping prepare for the main event for now.

On that note, Ryouta wonders what you and Shirou are doing since you guys are off doing something else. Touji says you two should be leaving soon and has heard you’ll be heading to another cohosting school.

Title card pops up, and this chapter is called The Sauna Loving Demon.

Things then tune back at Shinjuku as Shirou asks if you’re ready to go. You either say you’re here and are ready whenever and can possibly ask him to look at your clothes like always. If you go with C, Shirou fusses about you needing to button up your coat right and tells you to face him so he can do it. In any case he talks about needing to dress right for the cold weather so you don’t get sick. You either tell Shirou to be careful too, protest that you can handle it yourself, or randomly suggest marriage.

In A, Shirou says it’d be a problem if you caught a cold. In C, Shirou is gobsmacked by the suddenness of it and flails around for a bit. Either way he eventually gets the feeling someone is watching him, and Tomte is revealed to be nearby taking notes on how people interact outside the Santa School. He tells you guys to not mind him and continue as watching you guys is illuminating. His big takeaway so far is that health care is important outside the school too.

Shirou is shocked by Tomte being there and asks how long he was around. Tomte says he’s been there since you guys left the dorms, which means he was there the whole time and Shirou comments on not having noticed at all. You say the same thing gasp about how well the Santa Sneak works or comment on how well Tomte can hide his presence.

Tomte says if he can’t hide his presence then he can’t call himself the top breeder. Animals are more alert when they’re eating or in breeding season, so he has to hide himself like so as he does right in front of you. You either lose sight of him or manage to notice him. If you go with the latter he’s surprised you noticed and says you’d make a great Santa while offering to help if you feel like it. He even offers to do all he can ‘afterwards.’

In any case it turns out Tomte is hiding behind Shirou, who notices and freaks out about it at this point. You notice that’s not all that’s happening, and Tomte starts observing how Shirou’s hair is arranged differently. He comments that the first step to taking care of your health is warmth and hygiene.

Tomte then changes the subject to reintroduce himself to you guys. Aside from his student year and school affiliation, he mentions being in charge of the ceremony program, his specialty is breeding, and his hobby is health care. Also his likes are thick milk porridge and warm saunas. Shirou asks about the breeding part, so you can either ask what it is or start explaining it as raising animals and stuff.

Tomte also adds training, looking after their health, and raising them to be good kids. Because of that, he says saunas are the best thing to let out your pent up stress. Shirou politely thanks him and comments on him liking saunas so much.

Tomte starts stepping closer to Shirou as he talks about being a caregiver and would like to speak freely more. He says it’s totally okay for Shirou to unload onto him, but Shirou is mildly alarmed and says he’s not pent up or anything as he turns to you to back him up on that. You either agree, disagree, or go no comment on him.

In any case Shirou decides to change the subject again and asks if Tomte was the one to suggest saunas for the ceremony. Tomte says it was partly a personal preference but also says that as a caregiver he was thinking of everyone else’s health. He figures everyone has built up some fatigue between studying and club stuff, and that a sauna would be the perfect way to relieve everyone. And to do that, they’ll be going to go ask someone to make a sauna village for them.

Shirou is surprised at the proposition and says he can’t imagine how that would work. Tomte laughs and tells him to look forward to it. He totally feels that blowing out all that thick pent up stress will make for a great Christmas.

You ask about his plans about investigating the prankster Santa, and Tomte says it’s not clear the culprit is why there’s been more naughty kids lately. But so long as you guys can make progress on both, he plans on doing investigation and organizing work at the same time.

Shirou offers a suggestion on that note, which Tomte is happy to hear out. Shirou says that there’s six of you guys in Shinjuku helping out, so he asks what Tomte thinks of switching between event organizing and investigating every day. Prep work can be done with some help, but only you guys can handle looking into the case. You either recognize this as human wave tactics or ask if that’s why the rest of the gang is out.

Tomte says he’s not used to relying on others but accepts the suggestion. He does tell you guys to not push yourselves, and if you guys discover the culprit you should report it to Ded. Shirou thanks him and says he’ll tell the rest of the gang about it. Shirou then asks what you think as guildmaster since he’ll prioritize it if you have an opinion.

You say you want to focus on helping Tomte since the case is weighing on your mind. Tomte agrees and thanks you, then says it’s time to head to Kamata Vocational College.

Time skips as you guys reach the Kamata school, and Tomte mentioned thinking he’d find Prankster Claus on the way and was using his memo pad, but no one you guys had passed by has anything to do with it. Shirou asks for clarification on whether the pad can really look into memories. Tomte explains that it inputs a person person’s memories and comes up with either naughty or nice as an output. He admits that it might just be how it looks though.

Anyways, Tomte says that while his pad fundamentally resembles Ded’s artifact, Tomte has no intentions of using it to hand out presents. You notice and comment that Shirou’s brow is creasing, so he apologizes and says he couldn’t believe it so suddenly. He mentions knowing someone else who also has something similar. He then asks if it’s hard to possess an artifact that can read memories.

Tomte says it’s natural to doubt that since people have memories they don’t want seen. But it’s important to the Santa School to determine whether someone is good or bad, so he sneaks in the background and won’t just blab about what he sees. If you still have your doubts, he offers to show you his memories with it. He feels no shame in showing his because he says he’s always sweating out the bad stuff in saunas. Shirou asks what you think, so you either decline, ask to see something about him you don’t know, or whisper to him to show you later.

A skips a bit, and C has him wondering why you’re whispering to him before making a point saying that he’ll show you everything because he’s got no gunk stuck in him. Anyways Shirou thanks him and asks if it’s fine to think of them as cooperating with him. Tomte says yes and adds he has no plans to hide anything from you guys.

Anyways Musashi runs up and yells at you guys to get out of the way. You take his appearance in stride but wonder if he’s running because the prankster Santa is here. Musashi takes a moment to greet you and ask if you’re the one organizing the Santa event. Then he says he can’t stay there because the old man is trying to drown him in the bathtub. Since he’s making a break for it, he says it’s fine for you guys to waltz in before running off.

Tomte sees Musashi as some innocent little kid and wonders what the hell is going on here before telling you two to be careful of your surroundings. Shirou thinks it’s just some figure of speech but agrees being alert couldn’t hurt. He tells you to watch his back as you guys go in.

Inside the workshop Amatsumara is yelling for Musashi as Takemaru walks over and asks what’s going on. Kurogane welcomes him back and explains that Musashi is refusing a bath again while Amatsumara is trying to get him in. Takemaru wonders if it’s because Musashi’s at that age where he doesn’t want to be in the tub with others since that’s a thing in Japanese families. He also asks if Musashi smells or something.

Kurogane thinks Musashi might be washing himself in the river. Takemaru asks if that’s why his hair is a mess, then considers that rivers are cold in the winter. Kurogane says he might catch a cold like that and says a warm bath would be great in that case. Both Kurogane and Takemaru join in in demanding that Musashi show himself.

You wander in around this point and can talk to Takemaru, Kurogane, or Amatsumara. In A, Takemaru greets you and asks if you’re looking for furniture or came to see him. He’s happy either way. In B Kurogane asks if you’re here to do stuff with your artifact and offers to take a look.

Whichever way you go, Tomte comments on you knowing all of them before saying he’s the one with a work request. He asks if Kurogane is around since he’s the one who’s a part of the organizers, and Kurogane is surprised the three of you are here on that sort of business. He also figures out who Tomte is if he knew he was a member.

Tomte is polite in thanking him for agreeing to help, and Kurogane says flattery won’t get you anywhere but says he’ll take care of whatever. Takemaru is surprised at how excited Kurogane is for this and asks if it’s fine for him to promise whatever. Kurogane calls him a worrywart and says there’s nothing an inventor can’t make. Amatsumara approves, and Kurogane asks what the actual request is.

You tell Kurogane you want him to make a sauna village, which baffles him. Shirou says that’s an understandable first reaction and asks Tomte for more concrete details. Tomte brings up a sauna, a cold bath, and an air bath and would like all of them in one facility. And if possible he’d like it to be decorated for Christmas since that’s what Ded wants.

Kurogane understands after that but says it’s a bit much for him alone. He then asks Takemaru and Amatsumara for help with it. Amatsumara comments on how quick he was to turn around after grandstanding but is willing to help since it’s a big job. Takemaru figures they were all going to  start with but is okay with it. He also figures maybe Musashi would be fine with one even with his bath phobia.

Amatsumara thinks that’s an interesting idea and figures it can work if Musashi is afraid of water. Kurogane asks if that’s really the cause of Musashi’s bath issue, and Takemaru points out the two of them thought Musashi was river bathing. Amatsumara says they can just catch him and find out directly then.

Before anything else happens, Tomte has a question. He then asks if the Crafters are bad kids trying to drown that boy in the tub. Amatsumara says that’s an awful way of putting it and says he was just trying to get Musashi into it.

Shirou relaxes at that, and Tomte apologizes and says he’ll help think of a way to get even Musashi to join in a sauna. Amatsumara laughs it off and says that’s just how much Musashi hates baths. Kurogane says they should get to work right away then to come up with the most exciting ideas.

Scene shifts outside as Musashi relaxes about having shaken off his pursuers, glad that you came to distract them. He sighs about how the Crafters treat him like a kid and says that they (the guys in Musashi) only care about making themselves famous and caring for the body only in regards to its ability to make money.

Musashi then decides to sit down and have a conference with his selves, but before he can do that he picks up on someone else being around besides himself. His other four selves notice soon after, which means he’s probably not imagining it. Since whoever it is is trying to hide themselves, Musashi believes it’s a spy from the Agents. Whatever the case is, he shrugs and says it’s time to do his usual job and show he’s not just a kid.

Scene shifts again to Hephaestus’s workspace as he says Talos is late and asks where he went. Talos observes that Hephaestus seems nervous, but Hephaestus brushes that off to ask if the fir trees are sold out. Talos instead informs him that you’re here.

Hephaestus is happy about that but is a little bothered that you can’t come over yet. He starts crying a little about wanting to get you a present and says he needs Santa’s power for that because he feels he wouldn’t know what you really want. Hephaestus also describes himself as a grad student and an adult, and people feel Santa doesn’t come to adults, which presents a problem for him.

As such, Hephaestus has been thinking of a way for Santa to come to him too. He’s still working on that, so he orders Talos to keep everyone away from his room so he can work in peace. Talos however apologizes and says there’s already an intrusion.

That Shadow Evil from earlier is around and realizes it’s been noticed. Hephaestus initially thinks Santa has come before dismissing the idea, then demands to know who the Evil is and how it got there. The Evil starts talking with a baby lisp as it says it wants lots of milk porridge if Hephaestus wants presents.

Hephaestus thinks the thing is weird and says Santa’s not supposed to want a reward. He then orders Talos to get rid of the thing. As Talos reaches for the Evil, it lisps about what a shame it is before it springs at Hephaestus. Talos calls out in alarm, but before the Evil hits Hephaestus, Musashi manages to block it and asks if Hephaestus is okay.

Talos says it seems all Hephaestus got was some scratch mark or something on his butt and thanks Musashi for his help. Hephaestus demands to know why Musashi is there. Musashi apologizes for letting an intruder in but says he’s a bodyguard instead of a gate guard. And since he just saved him he decides to drop any complaints.

Hephaestus protests that’s not what he’s trying to talk about. The Evil says Musashi is a native and comments on that being convenient. Musashi says the vessel for them is a native but doesn’t know where the Evil is going with that. It starts talking about wanting to possess him, though it’s nothing personal.

Musashi gets the willies and tells Talos to get Hephaestus out of there. Hephaestus protests at being carried over the shoulder, but Talos asks him to forgive it since it’s an emergency. He then runs out with him, and Musashi says he can fight all out with them gone. The episode ends as he says he’ll show off his abilities.
