Gullinbursti
believes that things would have been different had he been there, even
if he didn’t have the sword with him. Since he was made inside the forge
of the dwarves, he would never burn no matter the fire. And since he’s
covered in golden hair, it’s possible for people to mistake him for
Freyr. He also has the concept of abundant fertility, which he says
could compare to Thor’s hammer. Even if anything went wrong a substitute
would have been born soon after.
He says
that if he was given a bit of Freyr’s body data he could blend it with
his own and something he could see far away could come closer. That way,
when the twilight came he could be a substitute for his master.
Narration then says that Gullinbursti was to be Freyr’s mount,
protector, and body double.
Odin, the World
Pillar of Yggdrasil knew about this. As did Loki, the blocker who
worked in the shadows. The twilight came and Freyr lost to Surtr, and
despite being made to die for him Freyr left Gullinbursti behind. He
grieved and asked why he went to a battle he could not win.
Gullinbursti
never had any doubts about his role, feeling that to die in place of
his master was the greatest honor. When Freyr rode him, he was filled
with incomparable happiness. He charged forward without any doubts, and
if he could reach death, then that would be victory for him.
At
the time Freyr fell back dying, their eyes met and Gullinbursti thought
he saw anger in his eyes. Gullinbursti thinks he was left behind
because he was weak. He wanted approval from Freyr and no one else. His
sword glowed like Freyr’s gaze, and if the sword tried to speak to him,
he couldn’t understand it.
His master who
could grant his wish was gone now, and Gullinbursti stopped running atop
the rainbow bridge as he had nowhere to go. He yelled out, asking for
someone to tell him what to believe in and where he should go. And on
that bridge, the rainbow light of summoning came for him.
Title card then pops up, and this chapter is called Calamity! Tokyo Casino Underground Temple.
Things
then flash back to the present at the deepest part of the casino. A
bunch of slimes are blocking the way to Tsathoggua’s room, and
Tsathoggua apologizes saying he couldn’t teleport directly in. There are
too many dust slimes, and trying anyway would have left you all
surrounded. You can say that that’s what would happen if they were left
to multiply however many times or say you’re worried about Agyou.
Going
with B, Gullinbursti agrees. He talks about how his past regrets are
filling his head when separated from someone he ought to protect. He
starts attacking the slimes right away, but the slimes keep coming.
Temujin tells him that if he loses sight of his allies in the
battlefield, the worst has already happened.
Temujin
shoots down the slimes one after another as he says that
dispassionately. You can either tell Gullinbursti you’re sure it’ll be
okay or tell Temujin not to scare him so much.
Going
with A if it matters, Temujin says optimism is a sweet poison and he’s
lived this long being reminded of it. He then says numbers are power,
and that with this many Agyou probably can’t move since he’s small and
weak. Not that the slimes are that strong either, but it’s possible he
might suffocate under the weight of so many of them.
Gullinbursti
curses himself for being too weak to prevent this, and Temujin laughs
saying that’s just like him since he’s a boar. Gullinbursti takes
offense to this, so Temujin says he blindly believes that power solves
everything, letting his methods and motives mix together.
Temujin
says it reminds him of how foolish he used to be himself, then talks
about how someone once gave him defeat, glancing over at you as he says
it. He describes them as someone who used even weakness and defeat to
make their way, and got to the place they were meant to.
They
saw the limits of their weapon and the world, then saw past those
limits. As a result they didn’t even need self-protection when defeating
enemies. Gullinbursti is surprised to hear about that, and Temujin
continues by asking him what he sees from his viewpoint. Is it the
strength to easily massacre them, or just defeating the slimes?
Gullinbursti
says it’s neither and thanks him. As a defender he just wants to
protect Agyou. That gives him the idea of what else he can do that
doesn’t involve defeating the slimes, and he says he’ll make a new path
with everyone.
Gullinbursti pulls out his
sword, then turns his back on the slime bunch without hesitation. He
then charges against the nearby walls with his body to make a large
hole. You call out and ask Gullinbursti if he’s okay, saying he’ll break
 himself if he does this.
He says he’s fine
and his wounds start regenerating. It’s the power of abundant fertility
in him that he was created with. Even if he were to break, it would
create a new life, supplement it, and regenerate. Temujin laughs as he
shoots down slimes trying to come after you guys, thinking it’s amusing
and fitting of Gullinbursti.
Gullinbursti
says he can smell Agyou and leads the way. You follow along, and you can
hear Agyou crying for his grandpa to save him. Since he’s crying so
loudly you’re a bit relieved since he’s at least okay enough to be doing
 that.
You suddenly stop, and slimes drop
in from above, apparently shaken loose from Gullinbursti’s charging.
Temujin tells you to get down and fires at the slimes. They split up and
 run away.
Gullinbursti checks to see if
you’re okay, then thanks Temujin. Temujin responds by saying this is
what it means to expand your viewpoint and tells him to save it for
later. He calls boars that don’t look around unreliable, then says he’ll
take some distance and cover you guys. After that he tells him to hurry
as life is short, so he should run for whatever he sets his sights on.
Gullinbursti
remembers back to when Freyr died, then yells. Temujin snipes down a
hundred of the slimes, and you can either tell Temujin to leave it to
you guys or tell Gullinbursti you guys should go.
After
you guys leave, Temujin starts falling into one knee in a coughing fit.
Tsathoggua’s slime servants however prop him up and keep him from
collapsing. Tsathoggua thought this would happen at some point and is
surprised at how long he held up. Tsathoggua’s slime minions pick up the
slack and hold off the dust slimes, and Temujin seems embarrassed that
Tsathoggua noticed.
Tsathoggua says it
happened because he tended to hang back, then uses one of Temujin’s own
expressions, saying he ended up seeing a lot from his viewpoint. Temujin
tells him to go since he doesn’t want the humiliation of having to
accept his pity. Tsathoggua responds that it’s less pity and more his
unwillingness to hurry. And if enough dust slimes are taken out, then
teleporting in will become easier.
Temujin
doesn’t see much of a difference and says he’s never had his words
thrown back at him before. Tsathoggua says he’s thought as much, then
suggests the two of them take their time going forward since it makes
excuses sound more believable than if only one of them showed up late.
Temujin
says he can’t tell how much of that is a joke and is annoyed by it. He
says it’s even harder than managing his ordo, though he finds it
interesting and comments on the vastness of the world. He wonders if
this is part of your fate, then laughs about something about the world.
Scene
shifts to your side as you call out to Agyou. He calls back to you guys
for help, saying he’s afraid of heights as he’s stuck in a giant slime.
Narration says that the area around Tsathoggua’s temple has no gravity
through some tech or whatever, and this is somehow letting the slime
grow without any sort of limit and fill up the space.
Gullinbursti
wonders how you guys should deal with it since it’ll probably split and
regenerate from any damage. In which case, he suggests charging in
himself. He’s still heavily damaged as he says this calmly, and you are
shocked he’d say this.
He brushes this off
saying he was made to do this to begin with. So long as a piece of him
is left, he’ll regenerate someday. Even if he is destroyed, a different
Gullinbursti will probably take up his role. Before he says anything
more you put your foot down and object.
Gullinbursti
is shocked by the look in your eyes as he recognizes it. At that same
moment the sword starts glowing the same color. You tell him there’s
only one of him so you don’t want him to say that, for his sake or
yours. Gullinbursti looks back and forth between you and his sword,
feeling it belongs to you.
He tries to give
it to you, trembling, but you tell him it’s his and shake your head. He
asks if you’re angry, then thinks about how there’s only one of him and
how you got upset when he talked about sacrificing himself.  He then
says he’ll change his definition of victory.
Before
he can finish saying it, the giant slime attacks. You either tell him
he can do it, say that sword can do it, or tell him to step back and
rescue Agyou. Going with A, he asks if you believe in him and trust him
with a friend’s life. He says you’re relying on him, then says that
you’re different from Freyr.
Gullinbursti then
decides to register you as his new master now, saying he’ll show you
his new definition and protect you and Agyou. He tells you to command
him so that he’ll be your blade and shield, whatever you want. You
either tell him to defeat the slime, save Agyou, or fight together with
you.
Whatever you choose, Gullinbursti
acknowledges the order and thinks about how it feels like this is the
first time he’s used the sword well. He thinks about Freyr, about why he
was given the sword, and why he couldn’t use it well before.
Since
he was made to protect someone, he displayed that level of strength
when he had someone to protect. It wasn’t to defeat his enemies or
enhance himself, but just to defend someone.
Agyou
panics as he’s still stuck in the slime, hoping you guys aren’t going
to cut him too. Tsathoggua teleports in with him and tells him to stop
crying as he’s going to take him somewhere safer. The surprise of all
this has Agyou stop to ask if this is teleportation, though Tsathoggua
tells him there isn’t time to talk about it. Agyou then freaks as he
says he isn’t mentally ready to teleport, but they jump mid-sentence.
Gullinbursti
then declares he’ll follow his master’s orders and protect everything
and challenges the slime to take his charge if it can. Then the episode
battle begins.
