Valentine Festival! Episode 5 Part 1

Things start with narration talking about how the day is getting towards the end and how all the crowds have come to the event. You guys have gathered into a room that Shirou had picked out, which turns out to be the DIY Sweets corner. You’re all doing some group work with some supervision, trying to gather all the clues you need to figure out Behemoth’s deal.

Title card pops up, and this chapter is called My Friend! I Give This Chocolate to You!

Camera then tunes in as Shirou finishes up with whatever he was working on, then asks how you guys are doing. Kengo has something put together, but he’s made a mess of the cream. Shirou looks at it and says it’s so unshapely and warped. He asks if he can follow a recipe.

Kengo gets defensive and says Shirou’s cake is perfectly cut. Ryouta finishes his cake and has extra cream on his. You finish up too, and you can either say it’s done, call it your special cake, or say you put your feelings into it, though it didn’t come out looking right.

All in all, you guys have eight cakes lined up, half of which is handmade by each of you guys in the gang. Except for Touji, which Kengo complains about. Ryouta says Touji still has cafe work, so it’s not like he can step away just yet.

Anyways, Ryouta says he’s getting thirsty, so he asks if you guys want anything. He also asks Kenta to come help carry, who agrees and says it’ll be fine because Inugami will be with him. Shinya walks over to ask how the cake making is going, saying yours looks good. You say it’s thanks to him, say he’s good at teaching, or say you’re happy to see him again.

Going with A, Shinya says he wasn’t expecting you guys to come to the handmade sweets area and make cakes. He says he’s glad he learned how to make Chouji’s cake, then comments that it doesn’t seem like you guys are taking the ones you made home.

You tell him you need them for a meeting you guys are having and that people are waiting for them. He finds that surprising and asks if there’s something wrong. You tell him what’s up, and you do have the option to ask to talk to him as a friend in A. He’ll be happy if you go with that option.

Anyways Shinya gets brought up to speed with Behemoth’s inability to taste things, then sums it up as Behemoth’s power not transforming everything he eats when he tastes something. You tell him you don’t know why that is yet as you tilt your head.

Shinya asks if you know what Behemoth’s class is. You think on it and say you never heard what it was straight out and ask what classes/roles even are. Shinya reminds you that classes indicate how any given power works. If it doesn’t do anything to a target, then the class says it doesn’t need to use the power on it. He suggests it’s something to think about if you’re looking for answers.

You thank Shinya and say you’ll keep it mind, or you wonder who would benefit from a power being restricted and why that would happen. Going with the latter, Shinya says that power given to someone is meant for the world, and that world is meant to continue on. By abiding by a class and using their power to protect who or what they want to protect, things will go on as above.

Shinya gets surprised and asks you to forget what he just said. You then either invite Shinya to your group meeting or say you want to hang out with him, and that you’d be happy to hang out with friends.

Going with A, Shinya thanks you but declines since he still needs to help out here. There’s another reason, but he notices something and asks you to let him hide first. His fan club stampedes in looking for him since they want to give him their chocolates, then leave just as quickly looking for him. Shinya pops back up and says he might cause you problems. He’s happy you invited him though.

You either say you’d be sad if someone said you were a problem, say you’ll invite him next time, or say you’re happy too. Going with B, he thanks you again and says he’ll see you later as your stuff here seems done.

Scene shifts to some kitchen as Ryouta comes back with drinks for everyone. Kenta says it was even more crowded than before, but he’s okay. Kengo says it’s good you guys got this place and asks if you needed a reservation. Shirou says he talked to someone, so they lent you guys the place until the next reservation. There’s not that much time, so he suggests starting quick. He also tells you guys to be ready to move if something happens.

Kengo gets excited and asks if he’s gonna make something happen. Shirou says to not jinx it and to stop looking so happy about that. He’s trying to make sure something doesn’t happen here. Ryouta says both Touji and Moritaka still have work to do so they can’t be here yet.

Kenta offers some juice to Ziz and Behemoth. She thanks him and asks which one Behemoth wants, but he’s already chugging one down. Anyways Shirou moves things along and asks if they’re ready.

Shirou starts off the meeting by going over everything that’s happened so far. Ryouta talks about the Welcome Sweets, which he thought was nice, but Behemoth tasted nothing from them. Kengo says the stuff you guys brought in is next. He doesn’t remember anything about them, but they didn’t seem to do anything either.

Ziz says the first thing to have a taste is Surtr’s cake. Behemoth says it was great and wants some of it again, which Kenta agrees with. Next thing to work is Shino’s sweets while the Seven Colored Manju did nothing. And then there was Touji’s chocolate from not too long ago.

Behemoth says the chocolate and Shino’s nerikiri were rich and mouthwatering and asks if there’s a lot of those in Tokyo. Shirou says that everything else Behemoth ate had no taste. With that recap done, Shirou wants to start with figuring out the reason and beginning with the ingredients.

Under that line of logic, Shirou has an investigation done for the ingredients used in the places you guys went to for this event, saying they could have come from different suppliers. Or something like how what’s called a tomato here is some sort of ambulatory monster in another world. This is something he had a detective do for him, and he apologizes to them for the sudden request.

Nomad walks and complains about how little time he had to do it, but he says it couldn’t have been done if it was done by someone not on his level. Ryouta is surprised and asks if he was waiting outside the door. Nomad says when he’s hired as a detective he does it right, then hands over a report of his findings.

Ryouta thanks him and gives him a coffee. Nomad takes it and thanks him back thinking it’s bitter, only to find it’s sweet. Shirou flips through the papers and says that everything Behemoth ate seems to have all come from the same place, so the next thing to check is the methods things were made with.

Shirou says there’s one conclusion from this but figures everyone’s caught on already. Kengo says he has and brings up that everything was handmade, and Ziz says her sandwiches are handmade too. She then asks what lets Behemoth taste things in that case. Ryouta thinks a bit before getting an idea.

Shirou decides now is the time to try an experiment with two chocolate cakes. The ingredients and recipe are the same, and Shirou has already tasted both and says they’re good. There is one difference between them though. Behemoth asks if he’ll taste something if he eats them, and Shirou says he’s not sure yet. But it should provide information at least.

Behemoth tries out a cake with some trepidation, shoving it into his mouth and eating slowly for once. After he swallows, he says he can taste the cake in surprise. Ziz is surprised too and points things out about the cake he had, and Shirou says it’s the same as the cake Harlot liked from Chouji’s shop. The same cake Behemoth said he couldn’t taste.

Behemoth asks why that is, and Shirou stays quiet. Ryouta says that how sweets come out is 80% portions and methods while the last 20% is the feelings you put in for the one eating it, which is something Chouji tells him a lot. Shirou then says that the difference between the cakes is that you hoped Behemoth would like it when you made yours.

You say you made it, say you were thinking of him, or say you’re happy to hear him say it tastes good. He’s surprised you did it for him, and Shirou wonders if Shino and Touji made their things for someone special too. Kengo asks about Surtr’s cake then.

Shirou guesses that based on another guess, Surtr might have thought about a lot of people when making his cake. Ryouta thinks it makes sense, and Shirou goes on to say he thinks it’s certain that what Behemoth tastes are feelings. Ziz says she’s heard of the expression “cooking is love,” which she thinks is sweet.

Behemoth goes quiet, so you ask him what’s wrong and say he looks like he’ll cry. He says he never knew feelings tasted so great, but now he’s gone and devoured them all. Adding to that, he now gets the feeling he caused a lot of trouble for people, ever since he came to Tokyo. You tell him you’re the same and that you had help from lots of people, giving him a rundown of your life so far in the game.

He’s surprised at first, then is happy to hear that. He talks about being at the park when he came to, and that he and Ziz are the same too. You suggest apologizing to people later and making thank you candy to give out together, which he agrees to and says your cake is awesome again.

Kengo talks to you and says something seems off from what Shirou said. It’s not about the feelings creating taste thing, but he doesn’t understand it well himself. He doesn’t question it because his lightning works under the same idea. But then he realizes what he’s trying to get at and brings up the thing with Chouji. You ask if he means the cafeteria bit, which he confirms.

Kengo says that since he didn’t think it was Behemoth then, he’s never said anything about it to Shirou. But anyways Chouji was trying to make stuff for Behemoth, so he asks if Behemoth tasted anything then. He doubts Chouji wouldn’t have put any feelings into his food, so what gives?

Behemoth and Ziz aren’t listening, and Ziz congratulates Behemoth for being able to eat things aside from her sandwiches. She goes to hug him, and he asks her to stop because he’s embarrassed by her doing it in front of other people. She says she’s just happy.

Ryouta says this will be a party then with the cakes you guys made for Behemoth and takes away the one he won’t taste anything from. Behemoth thanks him, and Ryouta tells everyone to dig in. You can talk to Shirou or Kengo about how delicious their cakes are or say Ryouta’s cake has a lot of volume. In Shirou’s case, he thanks you and is relieved. If you liked it he says he had another one made for you that he was going to give you, but he backs off and asks everyone to have a taste.

The party comes to a halt when Behemoth takes a bite and says he doesn’t taste anything. Ryouta is shocked by this, and Behemoth grabs another cake without thinking about it. He tries them all, but nothing has a taste to him. He eventually starts going berserk.

Shirou asks why this is happening, so you tell him what you were talking about with Kengo. He briefly wonders if he made a mistake, but he discards that idea and tries to think. You say you think the idea about feelings and taste is right but something is missing, so you call to Ziz. You ask her what Behemoth’s class role is or ask her to tell you what hers is.

Shirou has a eureka moment as he says classes and concepts are connected, so knowing what Behemoth’s class is might make figuring out his power easier. Ziz dithers about telling you, and Behemoth yells about eating more. Shirou asks Ziz too and says she’s the only one here who knows Behemoth’s past. Ryouta adds in his plea too, saying he wants to eat together with Behemoth. She seems touched by this, and you either ask her to tell you or stay quiet and look at her.

Ziz looks at you, then sees something in your eyes. She says it’s the same shine as Behemoth did that day, then asks if you’re the same. The same as him and her. You either try to talk to her or stay quiet. Ziz says you might not have noticed yet, but she knows the color of that shine since she’s always by Behemoth. She wonders if she’s luckier than you.

Ziz says that the three of them were able to go one without knowing the loneliness of isolation. Shirou doesn’t know what she’s talking about, so she apologizes for remembering some old things, then says she’ll tell you about Behemoth and herself.

Ziz starts by bringing Behemoth of Gluttony, herself of Protection, and the currently absent Leviathan of Envy. The three of them were born from the world of Eden and were sacrifices cast out to Gehenna to start with. You being up that Azazel had brought the topic up earlier about the ones thrown out of the walls of the world.

Ziz says that Eden throws out people who don’t adhere to its beliefs, and that one of the places exiles go to is the world of abandonment Gehenna. Behemoth was made to gather energy and be offered to Eden some time into the future. Leviathan was made to be jealous of anyone he sees in front of him. So he ate like Behemoth until they were set against each other, and both of them fell.

Ziz was supposed to protect everything outside their battle, but she fell herself. She thinks she was made to stay with both of them until the end but keep anyone else from being involved. Their bodies were supposed to collected by Eden as offerings, but when Ziz came to she and Behemoth were summoned to Tokyo and survived.

You ask about Leviathan, but she doesn’t know what happened to him. She does think she saw him being split into two identical looking bodies and disappearing into a Gate to somewhere else. She says it sounded like the world was being torn, and she hopes he was summoned to another place like they did. She then laughs and says if he joined up with someone, he probably envied them. But still she thinks that’s cute.

Ziz says that’s all she knows and apologizes for not being able to say any more. Shirou thanks her and apologizes for making her remember terrible things. He then turns to you and says he’s picked up on something from the conversation, something Behemoth can’t turn into energy. Or maybe some feelings he can’t transform.

He wonders what it could be, but Behemoth yells. Kengo says Behemoth is getting bigger and could either crush the room or you guys. Shirou asks Ziz for her basket because that might stop Behemoth or make him settle down. Shinya walks in to remind you the next group is almost ready to use the room after you guys.

The moment Shinya opens the door, Behemoth pushes Kengo down and rolls out. Shinya asks if you guys are okay, and Kengo gets back up saying he can’t get Behemoth into a joint lock. Ryouta says you guys have to go after him, and Shirou asks Shinya what else is happening here.

Shinya says there’s a chocolate making group that he was supervising in place of Chouji. Kengo says you have to go now before Behemoth gets any worse, but you can hear screaming from outside.

Behemoth is zipping around stealing chocolates from some of Shinya’s fans. He still has some sanity left to apologize but says he can’t stop himself. He cries as he eats them asking why he can’t taste anything, all the while fattening up faster than he ever did. You comment that he doesn’t taste anything after all, ask why that is, or ask about it turning to energy anyway.

Ryouta asks what would happen if this continues. Ziz says Behemoth will continue to store all the energy he eats and suggests something terrible would happen if he takes in too much. Leviathan could have stopped him for going any further, but now no one is capable of physically doing so. Shirou says you guys might be able to stop him if he has something he can taste and that there are some people who can make that. That is, Ziz, Surtr, Shino, and you.

Kamui runs over and says you guys should go outside where it’s safer. He also has this huge chocolate in his hands. You can either be shocked to see him, ask about the chocolate or say you have about as much. He says he made it for you and that it isn’t sweet. It’s got protein and calcium put into it.

You either point out that that wouldn’t be chocolate, ask him to go easy on you, or say you’ll take it if you think of it as his love. He says he put his feelings into it but pauses when he notices Behemoth. Behemoth takes it and eats it to his shock.

Elsewhere in the sales area, at the same time Surtr and Harlot are back and shopping. Surtr asks if she’s gotten enough yet and worries about their food budget for the month. Harlot is offended by this and says she can make the money at the casino. Surtr admits to not being that familiar with Eden’s or Tokyo’s customs, but he still thinks there’s something wrong with that idea.

Harlot hears rumbling in the distance and asks if it’s an earthquake. She looks over down the hallway, then is at a loss for words. She asks if that’s one of Surtr’s family over there, and he denies it. Behemoth is over at the DIY corner even bigger than before.

Shirou gets up and asks if everyone is okay, saying he did see Behemoth get bigger. Shinya asks what’s happening, and Kengo says Behemoth blew everyone away. You ask if people are alright, say that was a hell of a crash, or say how soft Behemoth was.

Ziz turns out to have saved you guys from a rougher landing, and Kenta points out all the pretty feathers flying around and glowing. Shirou asks if they’re her artifact, and Ziz says they are. They should have protected everyone hit by Behemoth’s impact.

Ziz apologizes and says she should have been more focused. She says she saw a dream of a possible different future from back then. Ziz says it’s fine now though, and that she won’t let anyone be hurt. She’ll watch over Behemoth to the end because she was born to do so, and then she thanks everyone for being nice to him and her.

Ziz activates her artifact again and tells everyone to run, but you ask her not to go. She goes over to Behemoth, telling him she’s there with him. Everyone Ziz moved away with her powers immediately starts working to size the situation up and get help. First to move is Nomad, who gets on his phone to make a call.

Nomad calls Kamui and Marchosias, checking in about their evacuation of the event guests. Kamui says he’s in the middle of moving people and asks him to wait. Marchosias is also on the middle of helping in his area. He’s surprised to see Behemoth though, but says it’s not impossible for him to be there. But without Leviathan to do something Marchosias has to think of another way, so he says he’ll call later.

Back to your side, Kengo says this is a terrible situation and asks what you guys should do. The event battle theme starts playing, and Ryouta comments on the timing wondering if the executive committee is watching. Shirou says if they were they should have done it sooner. But anyways Ryouta says you guys should dance, and if it doesn’t work you’ll think on it later.

You either say it’s time to dance, question whether it’s really the time to be doing that, or say you’ll try it because you don’t have any other ideas. Whichever you pick, the episode battle starts.
