Onsen Jamboree Episode 2 Part 2

Narration picks up at the point where the party reaches the checkpoint after a few cycles of stopping for breaks and going. It's a pretty wide open space for the campground, and participants are out and about. Kagutsuchi is excited to see how lively the place is. Moritaka points everyone's attention to the tents set up and sniffs as he smells something familiar. Shirou says that the teams that already got here seem to have already gotten started on making that one camp staple. Aizen describes the scent as whetting the appetite and calls it outrageous for making him feel hungry, with the Evils chiming in on that.

Kimun Kamui laughs, saying it's good that hiking has made everyone hungry since that'll make dinner come out great. He then leads the party to your assigned tent area, and once everyone puts their bags down he speaks up again. He compliments everyone for making it this far and will explain what everyone will be doing at the checkpoint. First things first is to collect your supplies, meaning the tent you'll be sleeping in and three days' worth of food. There's also the ingredients for the curry, the utensils, and a custom prefab tub for the hot springs.

You either cheer about the curry or be confused about the part about the tub and ask Kimun about that. In A, Shirou asks you to slow down because he heard about the tub part and needs to ask about that. In B and C, Kimun tells you he was shortening the proper name for the tub since the full version of it is something like "fold up custom prefab bath tub type 2." Either way Aizen is surprised and asks if the event is planning to make everyone carry around a tub as needed for the camp. Kimun seems surprised too as he admits it was written on the Missionaries' proposal for the event.

Aizen loudly demands to know whose idea it was to saddle you guys with that much weight to drag around. Arslan slides in to cop to it and asks if that reaction means you guys know what the big surprise is. Aizen is shocked by Arslan's admission, and Arslan assures him that he's thought this through so that it won't be a huge burden on everyone. Aizen is unconvinced and asks aloud if it's okay to trust him. Arslan swears upon his holy sword and oil, which Aizen doesn't respond to, so Arslan laughs as he says he's looking forward to his share of curry tonight before leaving.

Aizen turns to Kimun and apologizes for being rude. You take note that Aizen definitely seems different, a bit more mature. Kagutsuchi suggests to Kimun that they should get started on their work too, which Moritaka agrees with since it'll be harder to see when it gets dark. Kimun also agrees, then says the first part of splitting the work is to pick a leader. You express surprise that it's not Kimun.

Kimun explains that he's the guide, meaning he's the one to teach and guide you all on wilderness survival and thinking. Having someone else be leader and learning independence is also an important part of the camp too. Aizen stays quiet, which you are surprised about since you figure he'd be good at taking control.

Moritaka agrees as he also sees Aizen as a stickler for rules and order, which ought to translate well into leading. Aizen says he'll have to decline since he has some other order to fulfill this time. Kagutsuchi says he's still a middle schooler who doesn't have enough experience, so he'd rather one of you take the job. You wonder about how to solve this, think about volunteering, or stay quiet.

Shirou thinks on it for a moment before putting himself forward for leader. Kimun seems interested and is willing to go along with that if no one objects. Moritaka approves since Shirou acts as a manager of sorts for your class, and Aizen agrees because Shirou isn't you. You either agree that Shirou is qualified to lead or say you want to be the leader too. In A and B, Shirou thanks you and says it's comforting to have you believe in him. In C, Shirou apologizes for being selfish and asks you to let him have it this time.

Before anything else goes on, Kimun puts Shirou up to another pop quiz: if a friend is in danger, what should a leader do? Shirou says he'll take action that prioritizes helping, though this will be happening after he understands the situation. Acting recklessly could put him in danger in the worst case scenario and cause even more damage. His goal is to "ensure that help will happen" instead of "helping as soon as possible."

Kimun finds Shirou's prompt response to be fascinating and says that making decisions fast is also a kind of strength, proof that Shirou's been thinking about this habitually. He then officially declares Shirou to be the leader, and Shirou says he'll do everything he can.

Shirou turns to the rest of the party and promises to do his best. Moritaka prompts Shirou to give out some commands, so Shirou decides to divvy up who collects what supplies. Kagutsuchi and Kimun are assigned to get the three days' worth of food and the utensils, which Kagutsuchi seems surprised about but agrees to. Kimun says he needs to turn in a report anyways, so they'll get the food and stuffs after he does that.

Shirou moves onto the custom prefab tub, and he decides to send you and Aizen to go get it. Aizen has some issue with this of course, but he pushes it down to agree to do so. He also says he's kind of interested in what the hell the tub business is about so he'll go ask for an explanation while he's there. You agree to go, think about the tub, and/or wonder if it's even possible to carry the thing.

Shirou then says he'll go grab the tent with Moritaka and the Evils. Moritaka acknowledges the order and turns to the Evils saying he'll do his best with them. Shirou says he plans on figuring out how to divide the cooking and setup once you all get back with the supplies, then ends the planning there.

Aizen takes a moment before turning to address you, telling you to put your things down so you guys can head out for the tub. Moritaka notes that there's some friction between the two of you, so he suggests switching out with one of you to Shirou. Shirou sticks with the plan since leaving the problem as is will create more trouble down the line, at which point Moritaka realizes the point is to handle the issue now before anything serious happens.

Shirou says that is part of it, but he's noticed Aizen acting differently and was thinking that the reason why might become clear if you and Aizen are alone. Moritaka says that Tadatomo told him Aizen used to be more of a ticking bomb. Shirou thinks about how Aizen seems to have calmed down and why he might have signed on as a Missionary. He thinks that maybe Aizen is feeling lost and trying to discover something new for himself too.

Scene shifts to Kurogane, who turns out is here and is the one handing out the tubs and is surprised to see you here. You either express some confusion about Kurogane being here, ask if all the Crafters are here, or ask what new gadget is here today. In A, Kurogane notes that you're doing well and calls it a huge coincidence to see you here. In B, Kurogane explains that he's the only one there as the Missionaries asked him to hand out the tubs. In C, Kurogane laughs and says the entire guild came together to develop it.

Anyways, Aizen gets huffy so Kurogane apologizes for unintentionally getting sidetracked from work when he saw you, so he gets to showcasing the thing. He describes the tub as fireproof, water resistant, and shock resistant before naming it the Fold Up Model Prefab Bathtub Type 2, produced by the concentrated efforts of the Kamata Crafters as the camera goes to zoom in on the thing.

Aizen is shocked at first, then asks if this is some kind of joke. Kurogane insists he's being totally serious as the Crafters put 120% to everything they do. Aizen flips out and demands to know how in hell the tub is a fold up and a prefab since it totally looks like a standard nonportable tub. You note it looks like a normal tub, observe that it's pretty big, then ask if Kurogane thought about how the thing's supposed to be carried.

Kurogane clicks his tongue at your lack of faith in him, then tells you to watch as he fiddles with some things. He pushes some button on the back of the tub, and Aizen yells in shock as the tub shines and disappears. In its place is a slightly large bag complete with straps to carry the widget. Kurogane asks what you guys think and explains about the size change button. He also mentions that the tub pack has a special coating to prevent water leaks, and the tub itself can fit the whole Crafters guild with no issues to its weight capacity.

Kurogane lists out some other functions of the tub, which includes adjustable depth (up to your neck or just up a bath for your feet) and automatic water level control. It normally heats up using firewood, but if you have electricity you can also use it as a kettle or for heat insulation. Also it's environmentally friendly and equipped with special filters! It can purify any dirty water into fresh water if you uncork a bottle. It's gonna revolutionize camping, and a certain dwarf's company has already put in a large order of the things. Kurogane then prompts you guys for your thoughts and reactions so he can tell the others when he gets back.

Aizen is shocked speechless for a moment again before accusing Kurogane of messing with him. He demands to know how the tub works since the bag is far more compact than expected, almost like it's violating the laws of physics. Aizen decides not to question the tub being able to change with the push of a button but loudly questions the point of the tub shining when it changes modes since it's enough to cause dizziness.

Kurogane is baffled by the reaction since he was expecting compliments instead of complaints. You either try to get Aizen to chill out, comment that the tub is amazing, or be impressed with Kurogane. In A, it takes Aizen a second to remember he shouldn't be acting as the high strung straight man to what's happening but did so on accident. In B, Aizen's attention turns to you as he accuses you of scoring points by being complimentary like so, then mumbles about knowing how you are. Kurogane's takeaway is that a visible transformation sequence for the tub is needed and takes note, but he still likes the instant change after a flash of light. He also mentions a chubby guy was amazed with it earlier. In C, Kurogane is excited that you like it, talking about how he made it with his grandpa and everyone. He guarantees it'll be incredible and says art is about kicking common sense aside. Aizen pouts that he didn't say it wasn't amazing or anything.

In any case, Kurogane asks you guys to sign the paper so you guys can officially take the tub. He hopes you guys will enjoy your bathing with it, and asks for any feedback forms to be sent to the Crafters. Time then skips a moment to Aizen quickly walking ahead of you as he carries the bathtub. He's as overbearing and forceful as ever, yet you pick up on there being something different about him so you try to talk to him.

Narration says you called out to Aizen without thinking about it, and Aizen doesn't immediately response before he asks what you'd want with your archenemy. You tell him it's not quite business you have with him, say you just wanted to talk to him, or back down and say it's nothing. Aizen is quiet for a second before he says he knows that you want to ask him things. He decides to make an exception and agrees to answer your questions, so he tells you to keep it brief.

You ask Aizen if something happened, ask about his being in the Missionaries, and/or ask why he's joined this event. Aizen calls you nosy and intrusive as always, but he acknowledges it's a fair question even for you. He agrees to answer and says he joined based on his judgment, and that Ophion was the one who originally gave him the chance to do this. You then ask more about Ophion or ask if something happened between the Tycoons and Missionaries.

Aizen says he doesn't have to answer that but decides to do so anyway. He says it's entirely related to you, so you'd best perk those ears up and listen closely. So anyways, there's a large scale exchange starting to happen between the Berserkers, Missionaries, and Tycoons. Each guild's associated schools are using the exchange student programs to send guild members to each other. That's how he's here now as a Roppongi exchange student and a special envoy from the Tycoons. As such, he's trying harder than usual not to dirty his guild's reputation.

Of course, after he's been transferred he happened to run into you. He asks if you know what he's getting at and orders you to say you do. You however ask him to say what he's really thinking, which shocks him. He sighs as he decides to do so, first calling you love singularity before correcting to say your name for once. He suggests a truce between the two of you for the duration of the event, and you either react with shock or casually agree to it.

B has an extra line where Aizen is surprised at how fast you said that and irritated that he wasted a lot of effort for nothing. But anyways Aizen makes a point of saying he hasn't thought any differently about you, saying love is a dangerous substance liable to destroy the world and that you're crazy for how careless you are with it. That said, he's going to put his personal thoughts aside for now. It's a good chance for him to reexamine your character now that you both are in a different environment, and his earlier grudge will not factor into things. He struggles for another way to put it, so you can suggest associates, friends, or ask if he wants he wants to date you.

In A, Aizen coughs and rolls with it, saying this is some twist of fate and that even he apologizes. In B, Aizen is surprised before loudly denying that he wants your friendship. In C, Aizen is briefly shocked before screaming and asking if you're taking the piss. He then says it's wrong and asks why you'd skip two or three steps. He's also apparently keeping a record of his interactions with you as he yells about the outrageousness of it all.

In any case Aizen says it'd be a terrible idea for you two to be seen having a fight in front of a middle schooler. He decides to go direct and asks if you'll accept his proposal, and you can either say yes, or hold out and try to bargain for some conditions. In A, Aizen is pleasantly surprised you accepted it so quickly and offers to make a promise as a show of faith. In B and C, Aizen calls you underhanded to keep him hanging like this, but he agrees to negotiate and offers to make a promise.

Either way, Aizen's promise to you is that will let it go just one time during this scout trip should/when you disturb the public order. That's as far as he can go as a public morals member, and swears to purge you if you do it a second time. You either sigh that he could just lighten up, agree to his offer, or joke about giving in. Aizen says the truce is official now and says you're teammates now. He hopes nothing serious happens, and you either exchange formalities, thank Aizen, or silently hold out your hand. He still throws in a harrumph no matter what.

Time skips to the point where you and Aizen regroup with the party as Kagutsuchi welcomes you guys back and offers some towels. You thank him, comment that moving makes you sweat, and say that the towel feels nice and cool. Kagutsuchi says he figured you guys might be tired, so he put some towels in the cooler. Aizen apologizes to the party for you guys being late and reports that he has the tub. Shirou welcomes you two back and says he was about to assign the next phase of jobs. Aizen notes the good timing, then asks Shirou to hold on a moment.

Aizen pulls out a sports drink from to cooler to give to you, and he makes the effort to compliment you on a good job. Kimun is surprised but impressed to see this, and Moritaka notes that the relationship between you and Aizen has changed again as he compliments Shirou's decision making. Shirou says he just put the opportunity out there and admits he didn't think it would turn out so well.

Time skips a bit more towards sunset, and the quicker teams are already starting to get cooking. Kagutsuchi talks about how standard it is to have curry rice at camping, and that the smell of it is making his stomach growl. Kimun says that the ingredients and utensils are here, then prompts Shirou to assign jobs. Shirou says it's time to set up the tent and tub and prepare for dinner.

Shirou starts off with the tub needing to be put together and get the water, and he asks if Aizen can do it all alone. Aizen says it's no big deal to set the tub up and it'll be quick if he has sunglasses. Shirou is baffled by this comment but doesn't question him about it. Aizen says he can also get the hot water, but he wonders if there really are hot springs around there. Kimun says there's one under the manager's cabin, and there should be someone there so he suggests Aizen go see. Aizen agrees and says nothing can surprise him after seeing the tub. You either wave him off, tell him to yell if something happens, or warn him not to slack off.

C has an extra line where Aizen scoffs and tells you to stay focuse too. B has a different extra line where he snorts at you being concerned about him, then tells you to do your job properly. Anyways, Shirou moves onto the tent pitching job, which he puts himself, Moritaka, and the Evils on. It should be a quick job, so after they finish with it they'll go help with the other tasks. Moritaka acknowledges the order and tells the Evils he'll be working with them some more.

You note with some surprise that Shirou is on tent duty instead of cooking. Shirou says he wanted to branch out from his specialties, then asks if you remember what happened back in the first Valentines event with the Evils dancing in support. He worries that if the Evils did it again some other strange life form might appear. Moritaka starts trying to remember that Valentines as he mentions having some fragment of a memory about it.

Moritaka seems to have a vague flicker of that time he was hypnotized or whatever, and Shirou quickly stops him and pushes him to go pitch the tent. He then turns towards the last job of the night, meaning the cooking. The menu will be curry rice with a fried egg on top and some salad. That'll be up to you, Kagutsuchi, and Kimun. Kagutsuchi is surprised by this but says he'll do his best, and Kimun quickly accepts the order. You either talk to Kagutsuchi about doing your best, get excited about making some good curry, or say you kind of suck at cooking.

In A, Kagutsuchi says he'll put all his effort into this while still being nervous. In B, Kagutsuchi expresses some worry about messing this up but tries to focus on doing well. In C, Kagutsuchi tries to cheer you up and promises to make your portion too.

In any case, Kimun tells you two not to worry too much since he'll be guiding you through the cooking process. Kagutsuchi is reassured by this, and Shirou says it's time to get started, though he notes someone's already gone. Everyone else remaining calls back in response as the episode section ends.
