Fortune Festival's Happy Illusion Episode 1 Part 3

We pick up with Touji bringing up festivals and mentioning that he's not familiar with how they're like from other worlds as opposed to what Tokyo does. Ryouta wonders how Tir na Nog does it and hopes that there will be lots of good food and new people to meet. Moritaka says he's heard there's going to be lost of Transient visitors, and that he's getting excited to see what the festival will be like. Shirou seems to notice something, prompting Kengo to tell him to stop thinking about things and move already. Shirou starts to say something was on his mind but backtracks and says he's coming.

When you reach the festival grounds, Kengo, Touji, and Moritaka yell about how the festival is totally a standard Japanese festival. Cait Sith proudly tells you he got an advisor on board to help him make everything Tokyo-styled, which he's sure is going to be so surprising it'll knock people off their feet in happiness. Solomon at least is happy with how things looks as he tells you he's always wanted to go to a Japanese festival with you, but then catches sight of something else. You admit that it is surprising, say it still makes you happy, or ask what the big idea is.

Shirou says he had thought as much, and he talks about how lately the number of Transients is starting to get close to the population count for natives. The point he's making is that the outer layer of the casino is starting to increase in number of Transient visitors too. What those customers want is likely to be a local traditional sort of festival with food carts, mikoshi shrines, and all that jazz. Shirou also mentions having heard that Tir na Nog is a world of abundant nature and fairies, which might be why this level was picked to hold the festival.

Moritaka is barely keeping up and asks if that means that this is a place that meets the needs for the event. Ryouta suggests it might just be because this layer is the one most recently renovated. Kengo brings up that Agyou and Kijimuna have been looking forward to a Tokyo festival. Solomon nods to the side and realizes no one ever actually said that the festival being held was one from Tir na Nog. Cait Sith is surprised by everyone's reactions, saying that while people are surprised it's all going in a different direction than he'd been thinking of. He then mildly freaks out at the idea of messing up again and dashing everyone's expectations.

Ryouta is still smiling through everything, which Cait Sith notices in surprise. Kengo asks him what he's smiling for, so Ryouta admits that he was surprised, then thought to himself that his original goals never changed. You are confused by this, so Ryouta points out all the stalls and cheers for the mikoshi, saying it'd be a waste to be disappointed. He also argues that this is all okay since he likes Japanese festivals. No matter what was going to happen, all he can do is enjoy things. You either agree, comment on him loving festivals, or say you have a chance to carry the mikoshi now.

Solomon agrees with Fat Boy, suggesting that you guys go enjoy the festival together. Kengo remembers that Ryouta had been planning to go to a festival to begin with and agrees nothing's really changed in terms of plans, and Moritaka agrees with the point. Touji softly laughs at himself for getting surprised at what he's seeing and forgetting what the plans were. Shirou says that the original idea was to do something fun over the break, and he turns to you and says you guys should enjoy it all. You declare you guys should have fun with this and make tons of memories, and the gang responds with a group 'yeah!'

Cait Sith is amazed as he watches the gang's disappointed mood flip around to excitement like magic. Tezcatlipoca and Tvastar walk up at this point, with Tezcatlipoca laughing about how you have always enjoyed adversity. Tvastar is surprised at how the mood switched so fast and approves at how life energy is building up here. You take notice of the pair's arrival, and Shirou greets them while apologizing for how you guys were loud and embarrassing. Tezcatlipoca says he doesn't mind, prompting you guys to play and fight as hard as you can. He also laughs and mentions he's been a prankster for the longest time. Solomon freaks out about another mascot showing up and worries about losing his spot.

Tezcatlipoca changes the subject to ask where the festival head from Roppongi is since he wants to share some information with them. Cait Sith says it's him and politely asks what's up. Kengo notes from the side how things have been flipped since it's supposed to be the one in charge who's all bigheaded. Shirou says he's heard Tezcatlipoca is both one of the festival organizers and investor. Touji says it must be the same for all worlds where money buys authority. Moritaka suggests that Tezcatlipoca would probably act the same way even if his and Cait Sith's positions were switched.

Around this time Tezcatlipoca and Cait Sith have finished sharing what they know as Cait Sith is surprised to hear the preparations are already done. Tvastar says that Kurogane is working on the finishing touches, and that it can be tested before the guests start arriving. You ask if they're talking about the strategy they came up with earlier, which Tezcatlipoca confirms and makes a show of announcing it again. You ask if he's going to do that every time, ask if Tezcatlipoca was always like this, or say you want to join in on it too. C gets Tezcatlipoca to laugh and approve as he offers to use his mirror to show you how to do it later.

Anyways, Shirou asks Tezcatlipoca what the rest of them should do. Tezcatlipoca asks the gang to divide in half to work both inside and outside the grounds doing things like managing the entrants and backstage stuff. He then asks the people who will be inside to change their clothes. Ryouta is confused, and Tvastar steps up to say he'll get that handled with his Instant Change Curtain "Clothes Changin' mk.II." (I honestly expected to hear the Doraemon gadget reveal sound effect for a second.)

After flipping the curtain up, Kengo, Ryouta and you (though that's not immediately apparent) have your outfits switched out for happi coats. Tvastar declares the switch is done and notes that emotions are building up. Tezcatlipoca compliments them for looking good in the coats as well as you. You either play this off like a sentai hero transformation, say the outfit is tensing you up, or say it's kind of embarrassing. A has Kengo say you look good and that you're both dressed to match. Ryouta also compliments you and asks how he looks. It's got a fresh feeling to it. In B, Kengo agrees and says this is what festivals should be about. Ryouta gets excited saying it's feeling like a festival now. In C, Kengo tells you to stop fidgeting and stand up proudly. When you do he approves and says he thinks you look great in it.

In any case Solomon starts pouting about how he wants to wear a happi to a festival too. Tvastar says they should change too, throwing the curtain over himself and Cait Sith. Shirou is surprised to see you all in happis and asks about them as he starts connecting some dots. Tvastar tells him he's correct and says the happi is a joint developed product with the Creators, a special item that can gather the happy power needed. Ryouta is taken aback as he notes the happi don't actually look any special. Cait Sith explains that if they look too unusual they'll disturb the guests. The way they are now, you can wear them anywhere and anytime. Tezcatlipoca puffs up and makes a peace sign as he describes the happi as special items that will detect and autocollect happy power. Tvastar says that if happy vitality is changed to energy, stored, and collected, then it's logical to use the happi coats to do it.

Shirou is taken aback nods along, saying he doesn't get the theory but at least understands the purpose and commenting that all he can say about it is "wow." Tvastar rephrases things to say that he's the best of the Crafters at handling energy that comes from living things. Ryouta asks if all they need to do is to go somewhere where they can collect the happy energy, then suggests going now. Moritaka points out that the festival isn't officially open yet, so he's about to ask where you guys ought to go when Tvastar tells him he's got that covered and Kurogane should be there soon. Kurogane appears just as predicted, along with Nobuharu. You either express surprise at seeing Nobuharu, note that of course he'd be around for a festival, or notice Kurogane's presence.

Nobuharu greets you and says it's been a while, then asks if you're participating in the festival too. Tezcatlipoca is excited to see Nobuharu there as he takes it as sign some things are done. He's gets to suggesting you guys go now when Nobuharu tries to explain something is up. Kurogane suggests it might be faster to show everyone rather than tell them, so Nobuharu decides to go along with that while Tezcatlipoca wonders what's up.

Over at the dance stage, random staff members are yelling about rampaging mikoshi shrines. You turn up and wonder what they're talking about. Suzuka, Tajikarao, and their respective flunkies are glaring at each other. You either go 'uhh,' ask what the threatening mood is all about, or comment this is sort of business as usual. Solomon cringes at how on edge people are and asks if a shoot out is going to happen. Tezcatlipoca comments how cold somewhere that was supposed to be happy is and asks Nobuharu for an explanation. Nobuharu says things were more peaceful earlier, but then an argument broke out, a dumb one as it turns out. Suzuka insists that taiyaki should be filled with coarse red bean paste while Tajikarao insists that it should be smooth red bean paste instead, and the two start throwing hands over it. You either ask if that's really something to fight about or nod and note that it's a big fight.

Tezcatlipoca says that so long as both sides refuse to move from their positions, war is going to break out. Cait Sith asks what will happen to the test run of the happi since there can't be any authorization if there's no safety guarantee. Tvastar is surprised at how much anger power there is and comments on that being living energy that's building up. He wonders if they should have made a festival costume that absorbs anger energy too and hypothetically names it Angry Donburi Bowl. Tezcatlipoca wonders whether you all go in and intervene as a third party. You ask him to slow down, ask Nobuharu if he can do it, and say that everything should be let out because it's a festival.

Nobuharu is shocked at you asking him to deal with things while Tezcatlipoca laughs about how used you are to chaos and decides he'll watch you in action again after so long. Nobuharu decides to go along with your plan and says he'll show the festival mikoshi, and Shirou says he agrees with intervening with your friends. Nobuharu says he'll start by releasing some of the tension and asks you guys to hold down the other groups going wild. Tvastar starts talking to Vritra and decides to join in too, and Cait Sith decides as festival head he needs to help too. You ask if everyone is ready, which Nobuharu answers with a yes as he asks you to leave Suzuka and Tajikarao to him. Solomon announces that the App's enclosed area is happening and cheers you on as the episode battle (such as it is) begins. More story after that.

After the battle, we pick up with Nobuharu trying to cheer on both Suzuka and Tajikarao. Both of them are surprised at him putting himself into the situation and tell him to back off, but Nobuharu refuses and says he respects them both too much for that. As such he's decided to cheer for them both, which shocks the pair. He keeps on shouting, which rather than attempts to stop the fight is actually stirring up the festivities. Nobuharu prompts other people to start cheering too, which Girl A is confused about since she thought this was a fight.

Nobuharu says that festivals come with fights and that you need to be this intense for carrying a mikoshi. Part of the thing's purpose is to be an outlet for accumulated stress and resentment from your everyday life after all. He continues with his cheering and prompting people to get into the swing of things, and slowly things do. Randos awkwardly start off joining with the cheer, which is followed by the event staff. With the audience and shrine carriers getting into the rhythm of it, Suzuka and Tajikaro drop their fight and show that they can make as much noise and cheer too. All the voices join together, and everyone smiles as a refreshing mood takes over.

At that point, Ryouta's happi starts glowing to his, Tezcatlipoca's, and Nobuharu's surprise. Touji says that the mikoshi, the audience, and everything else around is shining too. Tvastar excitedly tells you that this is the happy he was looking for, and Cait Sith is surprised about it at first before saying how pretty it is and how it comes from people's smiles. He also hopes to himself that his magic can make it happen too.

Some time later Nobuharu starts to slow down with waving his flag around, leaving everyone with a pleasant sort of fatigue. Tvastar announces that he'll collect everyone's happi coats now. You'll catch a cold if you keep wearing it while all sweaty, and the exec committee can give you a new one. After that's all done, Tvastar says things are going good and that you've gotten a few percentage points from that. Ryouta balks at how little all that got you and is a little worried about how much more needs to be done. Tezcatlipoca says this is still an important first step, and he figures it'll go quicker once more people are around. Cait Sith points out that no one got hurt, which is a thing to be happy about too.

Shirou says you guys got excited by the mood too, and he hopes the kids get to experience it but won't force them to do it. Ryouta mentions being all sweaty and wants to go back to the inn to take a shower. Tvastar thanks you all for the work so far and says Vritra is all sweaty too. Tezcatlipoca wants to talk to everyone before you leave and discuss the jobs he wants you guys to do during the festival. It's mostly going to be gathering happy power, and it's fine if you only get a little. Cait Sith also asks you guys to act as ticket collectors too, promising something nice if you get a lot done. Tezcatlipoca says it's fine for you to use the rest of the time however you want, so you should go play if you want to make memories. You agree enthusiastically.

Ryouta says he talked things over with Shirou, so now he's going to be the photographer and take pics of you all spending time together, and he decides to take one now as he prompts you guys to say cheese before snapping a pic on his phone. Ryouta then looks at the pic, saying everyone looks good and how a new memory was made. He gets the feeling the festival will be great, but he decides to rephrase it to you guys making it great. Kengo is already starting to walk off and tells Ryouta to get moving, so Ryouta asks you all to wait for him to catch up.

Solomon comments to you that things are probably going to be hectic this time too, and he asks you to remember to set some time for him too. He's a little jealous that you can play with your friends while he can't, and he cries about wanting a new friend since he wants one that isn't you or Mononobe. Around you, the shining and flickering fairies start floating into the air, and here marks the beginning of the festival in the recreated world of mystery.

Camera shifts over to the old schoolhouse as Mononobe walks in and finds Furufumi, then invites him to go somewhere fun with him. Furufumi says no, so Mononobe sighs at how inflexible he is before asking if he'll at least listen to him. Furufumi figures this is about a festival since Ryouta already asked him and he told him no. He's not interested in places filled with hotblooded people, and they don't really suit him either. Mononobe tries to talk him into listening to him again and says he feels there should be something that would interest him. Furufumi calls him pushy but agrees to only listen. Mononobe then pushes for them to walk while talking, and the episode ends with Furufumi sighing.
