Fortune Festival's Happy Illusion Episode 3 Part 2

We pick up from where we left off previously as Tezcatlipoca tells Yasuyori's school friends to go forth and struggle as their instincts will. Durga goes to play at the ring toss, and Gunzou joins her as he notes she's good at it. He does less well though. Kyuuma points out that Gunzou missed by a mile and, then asks him to watch how a baseball player's control is. This causes the two of them to get fired up as they declare they won't lose to him.

To the side, Kengo is taking interest in an arm wrestling competition, and Ashigara decides he and Yasuyori should join in too. Tanetomo walks over and talks to Yasuyori, pulling him back and asking where he thinks he's going since he's supposed to be his bodyguard. He and Ashigara proceed to play tug of war with Yasuyori until he yells for someone to mediate for him. Tezcatlipoca laughs as the hotblooded vigor going around and comments on how nostalgic the revelry going on is. He then invites you to go to war with him, so you either enthusiastically agree, shrug and give in, or suggest it be a friendly battle.

Tezcatlipoca says you guys should pick what sort of contest you should do then as he suggests racing, tree climbing, and world creation before something catches his attention. A stall owner who is totally not Taurus Mask hawks up his shooting gallery game where you win whatever you can knock over. If you knock over multiple things you can keep them all. Tezcatlipoca takes an interest in the shooting gallery, and Mystery Stallkeeper who is totally not Tiger Man brags that no one can knock down all the prizes before asking if the superstar Tezcatlipoca would like to try. Tezcatlipoca is amused by this and says he likes them. He declares that he'll clear them out in a minute as he puts his coin bag onto the counter and smiles.

Tezcatlipoca asks for all the bullets in the shooting gallery be brought to him as he intends to pay for them all. Time skips a moment later as Tezcatlipoca laughs his head off, and you are either impressed as he knocks down item after item including dolls and candy, or you yell you won't lose as you fire away yourself. C gets an extra line where Tezcatlipoca says you're the best. Either way he declares things are about over.

Tezcatlipoca sighs when the game seems to be over, and he says if that's all then he's won. One of the stall runners say he can't have the superstar overlook him as there are still things standing inside, namely them as the other stall runner says. Tiger Man and Taurus Mask dramatically reveal themselves and declare that you won't get to say you've won until you've beaten them in the ring. You are surprised by this turn of events while Tezcatlipoca chuckles to himself. Tiger Man laughs and welcomes him to their special festival exhibition match, and you express shock that Tiger Man is challenging Tezcatlipoca to a fight.

Tezcatlipoca asks Tiger Man what his plan is here in challenging him, so he agrees to answer him. When Tiger Man stood on his own as a luchador Tezcatlipoca was no longer a figure on the battlefield, and there's a bit of attention drawn to how Tiger Man is referring to Tezcatlipoca in a more casual manner. But anyways, he always dreamed of being on the same stage of battle as him, though it was always hanging on a thread. So when asked where this is supposed to go, Tiger Man decides he'll pose Tezcatlipoca a question instead. Did he really think Tiger Man wouldn't be challenging him if he attained a body that could stand in battle? Tezcatlipoca doesn't say anything, and Tiger Man pleads for him to show him everything he's adored about him since he was a kid.

A ring pops up into place to Cait Sith's bafflement, and he starts to complain about how there's been no prior clearing of this with the festival committee before someone tells him they did go through all the proper channels. Taurus Mask also confirms that he put in the application to have the ring here, and he makes a little speech about how being a pro wrestler is about always aiming higher. You either react with shock that he's in on this, express surprise that they know each other, or comment on how unusual it is to see him in a happi.

Tiger Man expresses his thanks to Taurus Mask for being his tag partner for today, and Tezcatlipoca turns to you to ask what you make of Tiger Man right now. You say he seems off somehow, not like himself. Like he's doing something he might or might not actually do. Tezcatlipoca agrees, saying that while it may look like it, this is not the rampaging form of someone hurrying to their death. There is a part in there that is like how Tiger Man normally is, absurd and reminiscent of looking at a nightmare. He then comes to the realization that Tiger Man's passion for life and death has been Switched Out for his adoration and regrets towards him. He also says that Tiger Man has reverted to his younger mindset where he wasn't so steep in his faith for El Dorado as he brings up how Tir na Nog is the land of the eternally young fairies.

Tezcatlipoca says this is like that one play where the fairy Puck made a mess of fate like a summer night's dream. He also brings up that it's possible his thoughts are being influenced by the fairies too. If that's the case, the place is 'becoming like the real Tir na Nog,' the homeworld of his ally Balor where the crafty fey live. But Tezcatlipoca decides there's a more pressing matter to think about for now since he's a part of the festival committee right now. Cait Sith becomes highly concerned that this is disturbing the other guests and wonders how to keep it from causing a commotion.

Solomon pops up to tell you and Cait Sith that he has a plan for dealing with this, and rather than keeping things down he sees it as an opportunity to get even more happy power. Cait Sith is surprised as he refers to Solomon as the best friend he made the other day and asks what the plan is. You either ask what the plan is too, point out that Li Chou's edgy gangsta speech patterns are rubbing off on Cait Sith, or ask him if that's okay as you refer to him as the next cat king. Tezcatlipoca then decides he'll accept Tiger Man's challenge and refers to him by name instead of a job title like he's been doing.

Once in the ring, Tezcatlipoca challenges them to come at him and show what heights their lucha libre can take them. Cait Sith jumps in too and announces it's time for his great Magic Magic. Tiger Man and Tezcatlipoca are surprised by what he's doing, and Cait Sith somehow pulls the Yoyogi jocks plus Yasuyori into the ring too. Ashigara and Durga ask in shock what they're doing there, and Gunzou and Kyuuma figure them being there means that they're there for a fight. Cait Sith yells from offscreen that this is the start of the special exhibition match. You ask if this is Solomon's plan, say this is an official festival thing, and find it's also listed on the festival program.

Cait Sith starts calling for people's attention to the match, though it is a bit earlier than planned. Everyone who has appeared in the ring is wearing the happi meant to represent the cheerful festival, and he lists off all the sports being represented (plus cat). Tezcatlipoca thanks Cait Sith for reminding him what their main goal is here, and he laughs as he says you guys should all do what would be best to gather the happy power.

Cait Sith continues MCing for the match and asks everyone to start guessing who will win. Anyone who guesses right will be entered into a lottery where the prize is high class cat food reviewed by a sommelier from a five star restaurant. Cait Sith gets off the microphone or whatever as he sighs and says Solomon's idea was good, and that there'll be big gains if this works. All that's left now is to get the performance on, and he laughs about how he shouldn't be underestimated for being a cat. Tiger Man notes that things are getting exciting, and that it has to be that way for the stage of his dreams. He shines brightest in the biggest heated melee, just like his sun after all. Taurus Mask agrees and says to leave techniques for standing out on the ring to him since he's specialized as a performer.

Yasuyori is still having trouble trying to keep up with what's happening, and he says if he's ordered to fight he will, but he seems to have issues with that. Ashigara laughs and says it's fine for him to just fight it out with sumo. Yasuyori turns to him in surprise, and Ashigara tells him to come with him so that they can show their sumo moves to everyone. Yasuyori laughs and says that the way Ashigara is always brings him back from the battlefield, and he switches pronouns to emphasize it, and off to the side Tanetomo looks on sadly and quietly. Kengo then asks you if it's fine to treat this as a match of clashing mikoshi without the mikoshi part. You say it's sort of like that but not, or you point out that without a mikoshi this is just a straight up fight.

Kengo tells you to stop sweating the small stuff and brings up that people say fights and festivals are the beauties of Tokyo. Tezcatlipoca turns to you to ask you something, which is if you'll stand in the ring with him. You say his name questioningly or nothing at all, and Tezcalipoca explains that to grant his fanboy's wish, that has to happen. You ask if this is for Tiger Man's sake before saying it isn't. Tezcatlipoca confirms that's the case as he says he wanted you to say that. He is always doing as he pleases, enjoying that he is the freest person in the world. That is his pride and the last thing left to him. In order to maintain that, he'd like for you to see that from the closest range possible. You tell him you don't really understand what he means, but you agree to do it anyway.

Tezcatlipoca calls his words young and naive, but he decides to put it down to his current self having been taken by the wily fairies. Tezcatlipoca also has something to ask of Cait Sith, which he whispers to him. Cait Sith is shocked by this, but Tezcatlipoca bowls over his misgivings by saying he has faith in his skills in magic. He then turns back to you and says it's time to raise the fireworks of battle in this festival as he starts the episode battle. More happens after that.

After the battle, things tune in midway through the fight with Tezcatlipoca laughing his head off while Cait Sith pulls out tricks like smoke, fireworks, and explosions. Durga is impressed with how Tezcatlipoca is handling a gun, and Ashigara is laughing about how fun and lively the festival is. After a bit of camera panning and fighting, Gunzou points out some light glowing, and Kyuuma says their happis are glowing too. You observe in surprise how much happy power has been collected as you say both Tezcatlipoca and Cait Sith's magic tricks are amazing.

Cait Sith says it's not all just him, since it wouldn't have been as much as a surprise without Tezcatlipoca running some misdirection for him by being so flashy. His inexperienced small crowd show can bring smiles to people, but he notes that Tezcatlipoca seems to be having fun too and how watching him makes himself feel happy. Yasuyori asks how it is Tezcatlipoca can fight with such joy, and why would he go to such lengths with that body.

Tanetomo teases Yasuyori about how he will always be who he is since he doesn’t get what’s happening. If everyone doesn't know what's going on and thinks Tezcatlipoca is just enjoying himself, then he could just do the same thing too. Really, it's fine to not understand a deviator. All he is doing is doing what he what he wants to do. It's not like he or anyone else wants him to understand. Yasuyori turns to him questioningly, and Tanetomo talks about how people who yearn for bitter joy and exhaust all that they want to do eventually end with nothingness. They fight as their battle instincts will with no concern for themselves, and once they achieve their vengeance or whatnot, there is nothing left. It's fine for Yasuyori to stay not be ready for the ultimate end and watch them off.

Taurus Mask turns to Tiger Man to ask if he's seen what's up with their opponent, and Tiger Man says he's always known. Still, he's glad for how happy they look. Tezcatlipoca laughs as he takes off his happi, which you point out in surprise, say he looks like he's having fun, or say he really is a rascal. Tezcatlipoca calls out to Tiger Man saying he doesn't seem to be having more fun than he is. If that's the case, that means he wins. Tiger Man asks how it is he can be having so much fun, especially since he's using a body that can't move very well, just like his body did in the past. Why make a broken body for an artificial body?

You turn to Tezcatlipoca and ask for an explanation or stay quiet, and Tezcatlipoca says it's a surprise for Tiger Man to ask that given that he's been raised in El Dorado's faith. He figures it might be because of the fairies' tricks turning him back and confusing him though, which Turned His Mind Young back to the point where he hadn't learned of their beliefs. He decides to answer, saying that Tiger Man is suggesting anyone would want to go back to earlier times if they could. Tezcatlipoca however says that is Not Freedom. He tells Tiger Man to choose how to live his life in his own way, and if he's the sun that Tiger Man loved, he'll also agree to tell him his personal beliefs on living since it's his style to return all challenges.

Tezcatlipoca flashes back and expands on his talk with Tvastar about how he had ordered his body to be the way it is, which he had phrased as "I want you to remake my body the way it was on the verge of breaking when I was left El Dorado." It must have looked irrational to someone who's always pursuing the most optimal developments in technology, and Tezcatlipoca admits to that. He cherished his body that came about from his living for his selfisness. He lived as he pleased, and his body was proof of that. He won't deny anyone else from living that way, but he won't think about reclaiming what he's lost. He admits to having regrets and wondering how things could have gone differently. But it's because of those that he chose to have it this way by his own will.

Back in the present, Tezcatlipoca goes quiet as he remembers his past, to that day his body was first damaged. He felt bitter joy in his brother looking sad, but also some other emotion. He sacrificed his leg of his own will. He does as he pleases, so he delights in how things have happened. And because of all that, he has not a single regret over those days he lived with you. He wanted to show off for you, and he stubbornly wanted to always laugh with you. He always wanted make himself look good, like he did when you were both boys.

Tezcatlipoca starts addressing Tiger Man and says that if he's returned to his younger days from before he learned of their world's beliefs, he wants to at least make a point that his past belongs to just himself. When the time comes when Tezcatlipoca disappears in front of him, he should not follow down his path. If he calls himself a luchador, he should break away from all restraints and cut out his own path. You are the one who chooses your path in life, and you should always be proud of that decision he says.

Some time later, Tezcatlipoca greets you and uses your name for once instead of just a bunch of titles. You note that he had fun, and he laughs and agrees, saying thanks to you he had fun as though he were younger again. Solomon talks to you to ask about how his plan went, then asks you to pet him later because he was supporting you from the shadows. Cait Sith comes over to say how cool and amazing Tezcatlipoca was, mentioning that everyone looked satisfied out there and that you gained a lot of happy power. Tezcatlipoca is pleased that everyone enjoyed what happened, though he may have pushed himself too much. You say you had a lot of fun and made a lot of good memories, so you suggest making more after this.

Tezcatlipoca seems to realize something when you said memories, and he says even he can make memories with you. He had forgotten that, and he says they were good memories. Ryouta comes by to talk and he notices you and Tezcatlipoca smiling, so he decides to take a picture. At that moment, Tezcatlipoca explodes for some reason, shocking Ryouta, Yasuyori, Tiger Man, and Cait Sith. Ryouta freaks out wondering if it's his fault and asks why Tezcatlipoca blew up, and Yasuyori tries to process what's going on.

Tanetomo shows up sighing and says he's said as much before, but now it's his job to deal with things. He explains that the body is both incomplete, and still unfinished on top of that, so pushing it so hard results in this. Tanetomo was tasked with observing and retrieving the body in Tvastar's place, and he asks Yasyori to help him carry it back. Yasuyori moves to obey, and Tanetomo says there's no need to worry about Tezcatlipoca since there's an emergency back up put into the artificial body. He wishes everyone an enjoyable festival, then excuses himself and Yasuyori. Yasuyori asks him for a moment so he can say something to his school friends, so Tanetomo lets him, telling him not to go too far.

Some time later, Ashigara says it's time for the jocks to go look at someplace else to have some fun. Gunzou agrees, saying that since they're all sweaty now they should take it easy and go visit the stalls. Durga agrees since the festival's only started, so they should really have their fill of things. Daisuke says there's another wrestling exhibition match tomorrow, so he ought to stretch and relax today. Kyuuma excuses the jocks, and Durga decides to ask Daisuke where he went. He fumbles and quickly claims to have been with a friend.

Kengo says you've guys have gotten rather tired too, so he suggests finding some place to take a break nearby. Ryouta agrees with the idea and says he wants to get some juice since he feels thirsty. Shirou walks in at this point and comments on the convenient timing of it since he was going to tell you when the break was. Moritaka gets curious about the snacks Kijimuna has and asks him about them, so Kijimuna tells him that the shooting gallery gave all of them to him. Ryouta cheers at this and calls for a snack party. Moritaka says there's a rest area built by the watchtower, so he suggests going there.

Scene shifts over to the inn where Tvastar is talking with Tezcatlipoca somehow or at least able to hear him, commenting on how strong he is. But he also points out that what Tezcatlipoca said is the logic of the strong, the words utterable by someone who chooses to lose things. There are people who have never had something since the beginning of their lives, and there are people who don't get what they've always wanted. And then there are those who have no choice but to give up on their irreplaceable lives. He comments that there really needs to be someone to take care of such frightening 'children,' he says as he turns to Vritra.

Back around the watchtower area, Mononobe is sighing to himself about how the person he invited along hasn't shown himself until he notices something. Furufumi then shows up, and Mononobe laughs about him finally coming, saying it was a good idea to bait him with the secondhand book shop after all. Furufumi calls him conniving over this since he just can't sit still if he hears there's a rare book from another world there. Plus, if Mononobe is inviting him somewhere, then he'll come no matter what. Mononobe thanks him for coming despite his fearing large crowds, and the episode ends with Furufumi sighing at how mean he is again.
