Live A Hero Golden Spirit of Dawn Episode 8

Title card shows up immediately, and this chapter is called What It Means to Live in Peace.

 

Things then pick up with someone from Gomeisa's world narrating, talking to the Mother Tree and referring to it/her(?) as the loving mother that grants great blessings. The narrator speaks on behalf of the people or the fruits that live in the Mother Tree's shade and ask for endless blessings. Narration then describes how flower petals are scattered around as the old language is spoken. The men play the drums and the women sing. And as the flower petals fall, dancers dance, offering their prayers to the tree.

 

Gomeisa takes over narration here to say he's one of those dancers. The dancers are the smallest and weakest of his people, those who can't become warriors. Those chosen by warriors are taken by people who come from the sky to journey to the far off stars. Gomeisa says he was taught that it was an honor to be chosen as a warrior, as it meant you were recognized as a great adult.

 

Gomeisa then talks about how his parents, siblings, and friends were all at least twice his size, except he never grew any bigger. Since he wouldn't be chosen to be a warrior, he became a dancer instead. It was the obvious result. His siblings who did become warriors made fun of him for being a runt and a weakling, but Gomeisa was happy to become a dancer. It meant he wouldn't be taken away to another planet, never to return. It meant he could stay with everyone else, living in happiness under the trees.

 

But one day, a few days after a giant Kaibutsu appeared and destroyed the village the people from the sky came to Gomeisa under his parents' guidance saying they were 'taking charge' of him. Looking back, Gomeisa thinks it might be because a lot of the warriors were eaten by the Kaibutsu. He might have been chosen to fill in the gap for lack of any other choice. Even so, Gomeisa felt honored at being chosen to become a warrior when he hadn't been before. After all, warriors were able to bring about a different sort of blessing to the people via the people from the stars. And yet, when he departed from his home planet, Gomeisa cried endlessly. He didn't understand why. He just felt pain and sadness for some reason.

 

Camera then tunes in at Parallel Flight's office as Gomeisa finishes up his story by saving he went to various planets until he finally ended up on Earth. He thought it was a nice place, with the air clear though not to the extent it was at his home world. He says he could feel the breath of the trees and flowers, but things didn't end with him being brought here.

 

When he arrived on Earth, a lot of people looked at him. Cases of money were shown, and Gomeisa was made to try using his power. After that he was told someone was going to take him in as a soldier. The looks started making him uneasy and afraid. The people coming to see him smelled of the battlefield, and some even talked about harming the warriors from his planet. The thought that he was brought to fight them terrified him, so he tried to run, using his ability to put his guards to sleep. Since everything on Earth was smaller for him, it was difficult to hide. He still managed to do so, then ran away. It was then he met Procy.

 

In the flashback, Procy is complaining about having been called to put a stop to a fight between some two bit thugs. What annoys him even more about the situation is that he's seen people from an organization he used to associate with but doesn't want to be connected to anymore. Justice laughs and tells Procy he should stop grumbling, and Procy finishes his sentence about how maintaining public order is a proper hero's job before saying he's tired of hearing that line. Gomeisa sees them and thinks to himself that they don't seem to be with the people who brought him to Earth, but then he gives his presence away, so Procy demands he show himself.

 

When Gomeisa steps out, Justice is surprised and says he doesn't seem to be a villain. Procy tells him that Gomeisa seems to be saying something. Gomeisa attempts to communicate, but unfortunately doesn't actually speak universal common/Japanese/whatever at this point yet. Justice is baffled by this and turns to Procy. Procy is annoyed and says it's not like he understands any better. He doesn't recognize the language at all, but he notes that Gomeisa doesn't look like he's from Earth. But on further thought, he gets the feeling he's seen appearances similar to Gomeisa somewhere before. Gomeisa says something else that they don't understand, and Justice notes that Gomeisa is shaking as he wishes they could understand him.

 

Mobs turn up around this point to try to recapture Gomeisa, and one of them refers to him as scraps. The other mob tries to stop him from doing any more since he's noticed Procy and Justice's presence. Justice caught onto what the mobs called Gomeisa and starts to turn to Procy, but gets confused by his reactions. Procy is nodding to himself about understanding what's going on and having remembered a bunch of things. He then gets pissed as he says the villains are still doing crap like this and cusses them out.

 

Justice attempts to ask Procy for an explanation for why he's so mad, but Procy tells him he'll explain later and says for now they should stop the live show and take Gomeisa somewhere safe. Justice reluctantly protests that they're still in the middle of something but understands the importance of keeping others safe. Procy has stopped giving a flip for the time being as he demands he shut up and help. Justice is briefly surprised before he follows his lead, using his powers to create a bright flash. The villains yell about being blinded, and by the time they can see again the others have escaped. One mob tells the other to tell the boss what happened because Gomeisa still has some value to them despite their calling him leftover trash.

 

The flashback pauses for a moment as Huckle talks about how startling that incident was. He was there too as an Operator when Procy and Justice ignored his commands and left the area. When he saw how serious Procy was being though, he couldn't find it in him to blame him. Huckle then says they went to Procy's shop to hide Gomeisa for the time being back then.

 

Flashback then picks up at that beat, with Procy having explained to Ryekie what the villains were doing with Gomeisa. Ryekie reacts in horror, and Procy says he remembers. He notes that Gomeisa is on the short side, but he does know that those like him were Carried Away on the villains' ships. He also mentions having heard that Gomeisa's people are able to use some sort of strange power. Since it helps in fights, they get sent to shootouts and battles one after another.

 

Ryekie is in dismayed disbelief at Gomeisa being taken away from his peaceful life on a far off planet. Procy points out that Gomeisa's treatment isn't any different from livestock or animals kept for games. Ryekie gets mad and says that's splitting hairs like an ass as he argues that sort of argument shouldn't hold up. Procy says that's what the villains are saying as their excuse, and he vehemently disapproves of it too.

 

Huckle has apparently followed Ryekie and Procy in their bailing out of the villain handling dispatch, and he asks what they'll do with Gomeisa since he'll be found soon enough. The villains should have sent pursuers to look for him by now, and since they know Procy took him it shouldn't take them long to make the connection to come to his shop. He asks Procy if he intends to hand Gomeisa over.

 

Procy walks over silently to Gomeisa, who is cowering in fear. Gomeisa says something as he trembles, and Procy tries to calm him down by saying he won't hurt him like the villains have. Gomeisa reacts in surprise to this, and Procy starts gently patting him on the face telling him he doesn't need to be afraid anymore. Gomeisa is moved by this, and Procy tells Huckle he's going to take him in. Huckle is shocked of course, and Ryekie asks if he's serious and asks what he plans to say to the villains. Procy answers that he isn't going to say anything. He's going to beat them all back by force instead. Flash back then repeats the very beginning of the event story, only this time it shows Procy properly instead of using a silhouette.

 

Gomeisa then picks back up with his story, saying he had a home ever since that day. It's a new place to belong now that he's likely unable to return to his home planet, and the one who gave him that place is the small but reliable looking man. You are quiet for a bit before sympathizing with his backstory, and Gomeisa says he never saw the villains again after that. He did his best to learn Common, and he started working at Procy's bar. He was able to live in peace again, thanks to Procy picking him up.

 

Mokdai talks about understanding now that Gomeisa's awkwardness with the common language is due to him not having heard much of it until then. Akashi gets indignant on Gomeisa's behalf for what happened to him, and Narihito says they must have had a big vested interest in him. The villains getting the upper hand in battle would involve bringing in talented people to their side, so they wouldn't just let go of him. Narihito brings up there's also the idea of differing ethics between planets. While everyone here in the Earth Sphere may find the whole idea unjust, Gomeisa's planet at least doesn't think of it as anything to care much about. You think upon this idea and comment that you could say that about Earth.

 

Narihito agrees that it can happen anywhere, saying that while some outrageous things may be overlooked, the only reason something is considered outrageous is because the person who thinks so has values that say that. That's why no one can stop the villains who are good at taking advantage of that. Mokdai says that's miserable, and Akashi asks why Procy would go so far to save Gomeisa. He'd help too, but the sheltering and having Gomeisa live with him is a lot more than he'd figure he'd put up with. Huckle says he doesn't know either since Procy never talked about it with him. He's sure he has his thoughts though since Procy's life was filled with all sorts of hardships too.

 

Mokdai notices Barrel hasn't said anything in a while and asks where he is. Barrel happens to be crying projectile tears and dripping with snot, and the handkerchief he's using to wipe himself is already waterlogged. You either react with surprise at the amount of crying, wonder if he's easily moved, or say you get how he feels. He apologizes as he says stories like that affect him a lot, and then he blows his nose on his handkerchief. This causes some of the droplets to fly out, which grosses Akashi out as he asks if it's possible for anyone to cry that hard. Mokdai is surprised by that too and says Barrel goes ham with his emotions.

 

Gomeisa laughs as he says Barrel is kind, and Barrel comments that Procy is amazing for all he's done to care for Gomeisa and for having the strength to make sure no other pursuers have come again. Huckle then says it's more correct to say that Gomeisa only saw Procy beating the villains coming for him once. Gomeisa asks Huckle what he means, so Huckle admits that things actually kept going until recently. You either react in surprise and ask what he means, or you say you thought as much. Huckle explains that the pursuers kept attacking like they did that one time, and that he and Ryekie happened to be around for some of those times.

 

Huckle says Procy always drove the villains back no matter how many times it's been. Huckle and Ryekie helped out sometimes, but it's only recently the attacks have dropped off. So that entire time, Procy had been fighting to keep Gomeisa safe. Gomeisa reacts in shock at that since he was never aware of any of this. Huckle says he never told him because Procy would have gotten mad about that if he did. He also brings up the idea that maybe Procy left to make the battles stop once and for all.

 

Mokdai asks Huckle what he means, so Huckle says playing defense repeatedly can get exhausting and adds that Gomeisa hates fighting. Trying to destroy the whole villain organization would be too much even if it were for making sure Gomeisa was safe. In that case, maybe Procy is trying to negotiate something. Procy and the villains know each other, so they ought to have some ability to negotiate some new possibility. Gomeisa is taken aback and seems ready to cry that Procy would do that for him since he hates fighting.

 

Huckle reminds Gomeisa that he's just making a guess about what Procy is doing. He then faces him with a serious expression on his face, and he says he isn't going to deny Gomeisa's dream of everyone living together in peace. If no one had to fight, then that would be better than what's happening now. But so long as society brings together a bunch of people with different viewpoints, conflict is going to happen no matter what, and this is unfortunately unavoidable. But that said, people who are good at fighting can do so to protect the people who hate conflict. They can fight so that more and more people won't need to do so, and Huckle says this is necessary to create peace. Gomeisa thinks on the idea of fighting to create peace, Barrel seems surprised at the idea, and you think aloud on the idea of how contradictory it seems, but there are no better options for now.

 

Huckle apologizes for talking about difficult topics, and Gomeisa eventually says he wants to go after some silence. Huckle is confused by this, so Gomeisa says he hates fighting, but he hates not being able to see Procy even more. His shivering hands ball up as he looks at Huckle, and he declares that he wants to go see him. He'll go, even if it means he has to fight. And he wants to tell Procy 'thank you.' You call out his name and/or say he's gotten determined.

 

Gomeisa says he won't run away from fighting this time since Procy had been fighting for him the whole time and he wants to properly thank him for that. Huckle is briefly surprised but accepts it. Barrel asks Gomeisa to let him help as he suddenly gets up from his seat. He admits he doesn't know what sort of place Point Yh is, but he says he was moved by Gomeisa's will. Because of that, he wants to be there and see Gomeisa get to meet and thank Procy for himself. Gomeisa thanks him and hugs him hard, which embarrasses Barrel. He then thinks about how this means things haven't changed with what he needs to do with Gammei. You either offer to help, shrug and say you're already on board, or ask to be included in the hug. A and B has Gomeisa cheer and thank you too. C also has that, but then extends things a few extra lines where Gomeisa complies and Barrel is confused why having you so close is making him blush. Akashi then taken aback at how this means you've been casually included for the ride.

 

Anyways, Akashi says he'll go too and see this case to the end. Mokdai says he's coming too, and that he wants to help however he can even if he can't turn into a hero. The two of them stand up too, and the Rescue Procy team is formed. Huckle comments on you guys getting ready to go despite not knowing where to actually go, which he says is a part of youth too and a pleasant thing to see.

 

Narihito says you can also call that being a daredevil, since in this situation a single misstep can cost you your life. Huckle points out that goes the same for hero work, which Narihito laughs and concedes to. Narihito then says that you guys would be heroes in a certain sense, and Huckle admits he is worried a bit, but he'd like to acknowledge your spirits. If things get too dangerous then he's going to stand in your guys' way, and he wonders if it's possible to let your resolutions stay alive. Narihito says he has to bow out at this point since his work place is calling him back as there isn't much material here for him to write with. He wishes you guys all the luck in getting Procy back safe and sound. Gomeisa thanks him for all he's done.

 

Some time later, Huckle says you guys need to figure out where it is you'll be going to. He's heard of Point Yh before, but can't remember where, and Barrel suggests going to see Gammei about that. Since Gammei knows about the codes villains use, he should know what Point Yh means. Huckle agrees with the idea, and he says he'll call him since he should be in at this time. Once that's done he suggests going to the police station and hashing out the plans again over there. Everyone else agrees, and the episode ends with Gomeisa hoping Procy will be okay as he swears to find him.
