The story begins by narrating about Christmas. Every year, Santa Claus comes by to deliver presents. The explanations may vary, but the same customs happen here in Tokyo as people wait for the night with the people important to them, whether they be friends, family, or the ones they love. Here in Japan, the children will eventually go to bed with their stockings hung up near their pillows and their hopes welling in their hearts. And as the bells ring, the reindeer pull Santa's sleigh as he comes to bring them happiness.
Here in Tokyo, everyone remembers Santa. He is an enduring memory that you won't forget even after growing up. Everyone remembers that customary winter miracle as part of the natural way of the world, but when did this custom start? And how long will it continue on for? This is the start of a story of a certain winter's incident, a little strange Christmas.
The story then tunes in with Ryouta singing a bizarre song about Christmas with lyrics about eating chicken, drinking stew, having cake, and hoping it comes soon before capping it off with a sigh. Kengo cuts in to point out how the lyrics suck ass even if Ryouta does it every year, and to point out that there's more to Christmas than food. You either speak up and say Ryouta's song isn't bad, concede that food does make up a big part of Christmas, or add to Kengo's complaints and say stew isn't a drink. A gets an extra line where Ryouta laughs and says you're kind as always before thanking you.
Shirou agrees on the point about the lyrics but sets it aside to ask Ryouta why he sighed so heavily at the end. Ryouta says he was thinking about how the weather seems to be stuck the way it is, which means it might rain for Christmas. If it were snowing then there'd be a romantic sort of mood, but Ryouta feels it'd be hard on the Santas if it's raining. Kengo scoffs and argues Christmas is Christmas, whether it's rain or spears raining on down. Ryouta teases him back and says Black Santa might give him something besides the usual rain of bullets, which flabbergasts Kengo. Ryouta then turns to you and asks if you'd be cool with a moody, romantic Christmas if it came to it, and you either answer with wanting a white Christmas, say a rainy Christmas could be romantic, or start waxing a fantasy about spending the night with someone wonderful.
In A, Ryouta agrees and says that snow falling through the city lights makes it look like powdered sugar. Since he's on the subject he wonders what's romantic about a white Christmas, and while it is pretty, what does romantic even mean? In B, Shirou thinks out loud about how rain reflecting the lights could look beautiful. The idea of going down a street with few people, the rain glittering in the illumination, and being wrapped in a gentle silence sounds like something out of a novel. Ryouta is surprised as he agrees on the romanticism of it, but he notes it'd be hard to go outside then. In C, Shirou is shocked as he starts asking you about this hypothetical person before denying that's he's trying to pry. Kengo on the other hand pouts, complaining about the stupid look on your face. Ryouta is surprised by their reactions before admitting interest in who this person could be.
Anyways, narration notes that it'll be Christmas soon as you guys hang around the Shinjuku Academy dorms, and heavy clouds cover the sky. Shirou then agrees with Ryouta about what he said earlier about worrying about the weather. It's looking worse this winter compared to other years, though it doesn't seem cold enough to turn the rain into snow. He's glad that the weather isn't arid, but there is something bothering him: the laundry isn't drying.
Ryouta: excuse me what
Shirou: I SAID THE LAUNDRY ISN'T DRYING
Either way, Shirou says that everyone's pajamas and bedsheets are washed, but they aren't drying out. They only get half-dried when he has to wash them again, and he comments it'd be more hygienic to put them in some real sunlight. Ryouta is shocked about Shirou washing all that stuff again and asks if it's a lot of work. Shirou sighs and asks if he knows, then adds that someone keeps throwing in all their sweaty workout clothes in the wash too without any concern for the load he's dealing with.
Kengo reacts with some guilt, then argues it's better than walking around in sweaty clothes. Shirou laughs and says he knows, though he still wishes the weather were better. He half-jokes about asking Santa for some sun as a Christmas present, and he sighs as he looks up at the cloudy sky. And from the shadows, one of his Evils watches him.
Scene shifts over to the Santa School and its Hogwarts looking interior as narration says that Santa bringing presents for Christmas is a fact of life here in Tokyo. Over in Shinjuku, a Santa School that trains new Santas is built there. A bunch of no name students are rattling off area designations out loud and declaring the delivery prep is done. One notes an issue with deliveries for Toshima Ward, so they ask for somebody to check on that. They're going in and out of some storage area with presents.
Black Ded walks by and laughs about how busy it's getting and how this is how Christmas should be. Tanngrisnir talks with him about how there's bad weather in the forecast, which may lead to some delivery issues. He's arranged for the Santa department students to speed things along as much as they can deal with while the Reindeer department has trained to deal with the weather.
Elsewhere in the school, Yule asks the upperclassmen to recite the Santa School's big three principles motto, so three randos rattle it off. Yule declares that the end of day meeting is over, then thanks the senpai for their work. Krampus asks Yule if the Santa department finished their prep for the day and comments on how rough things are this year. Yule laughs as he says that as a kouhai, it's always busy every year before asking how it is with the Black Santas.
Krampus says that the way things are being done with where the naughty kids are living is changing. He also notes with some surprise that there are fewer and fewer good kids sending in requests about wanting to see a Black Santa. Krampus then talks about how the age of good kids getting presents and bad kids getting coal might be a thing of the past now, and on a more personal note he's going to Taito Ward this year. Apparently there's a lot of weird requests coming from there.
Yule is surprised at there actually being requests for punishment and comments on how what's liked as presents changes by the year. Lately even the Santa department has been getting requests from grade schoolers for fashionable gifts. On the other hand older people have been asking for reprinted items, so the teachers have been talking about diversification. Krampus shrugs and says a present is still a present no matter what's inside, and there are plenty of children working hard to get one all year. It's their jobs as Santas to grant those wishes, at least as long as Christmas is around. Yule agrees, then suggests they go back to their room. And there yet another definitely a Christmas Evil chatters.
Scene then shifts over to Tomte somewhere in the hallways as he talks about how nighttime is when the Christmas fairies like them work, then says to the Christmas Evils that they're going to help with all the stuff. The Xmas Evils babble random Christmassy words, except for one confused one that lags behind the others and chatters. Tomte doesn't notice as he assigns part of the group of Evils to investigate on nice children and has others work on naughty children. Some of the Evils are to stay with him as part of the sauna team and decide on a schedule rotation for Christmas day. Finally he directs the caretaker group while everyone's asleep to start at the school dorms, but he notices they're not in formation and directs them to get together.
In Ded's room, Black is snoring like hell as the Evils sneak in and throw off their disguise as they waddle towards his bag artifact. The Evils then sneak Something into Ded's bag, then high five each other once they do so and start dancing weirdly in joy.
The next day at the Shinjuku Academy dorms, Ryouta greets you outside your room and comments on the weather forecast being clear today. In fact it's actually kind of humid, but that aside he has a message from Shirou. Shirou is going to hang everything to dry while it's clear out, so if you have anything you want washed then you should bring it to the laundry room. Shirou's really getting into it, so Ryouta says you should probably hurry. He's already asked Shirou to take care of his pillow and blankets.
You either consider asking Shirou to wash your pillow, freak out a little at all the dirty laundry you've got piled up (worded more suggestively), or say you're good because you got it all out every day (which also sounds slightly more suggestive than that). A has Ryouta says it's a good chance to get it cleaned since it ought to get cleaned and dried nicely today. B has Ryouta be a little alarmed before offering to help you carry your stuff to the laundry room. C has Ryouta be impressed at what a healthy diligent person you are, then suggests you ask to get your futon washed since why not.
Anyways Ryouta says it's super bright and clear today, so anything that gets hung to dry ought to be soft and fluffy when it's done. You move to collect your dirty laundry as Ryouta helps, and Ryouta remembers after a moment that Chouji is coming to visit today. If there's a cake you want, he suggests asking Chouji together with him. You either ask if he means the same Chouji that goes to school here, he surprised you can ask for something like that, or worry about it being expensive. A has Ryouta confirm it as he says he asks for a cake every year and wonders what to get this time. B has Ryouta assure you it's fine and says he won't leave you out. C has Ryouta say it's not an issue. If you feel like it, you could also get a present for Chouji too.
Ryouta talks about how Chouji is always studying cooking, so he makes Christmas cakes every year as a part of that. Taking everyone's requests and fulfilling them makes for good practice, he's said. Ryouta then suggests finishing up collecting your laundry so that you guys can talk about what kind of cake to get, and you two hurry off shortly after.
Time skips several hours later as you guys start talking about cakes in the dorm's dining room. Touji says he'd prefer something simple when it comes to Western cakes, something that makes use of fruits and matches their flavors. Ryouta observes how basic Touji's request is, then asks if Kengo is going for a chocolate cake like he always does. Kengo sputters that while he does like chocolate, it's not like he gets it every year. He then starts talking about a cake he saw in stores, which he describes as round and covered in cocoa.
Chouji laughs as he says that's a yule log and adds it to his list. He then turns to Shirou and notices he seems unhappy, so he asks why that is. Shirou says he's noticed that several of his Evils have been out since that morning and hopes they're just out playing. He's a little worried since the temperature suddenly went up, mentioning that he started sweating when he was doing stuff outside. You either think about how it suddenly got hot after cloudy weather, say it's been hot in your room so you'll turn on the air conditioning, or wonder where the Evils went.
A kind voice calls out saying they're coming in and notices that you're all together. Ryouta recognizes the voice in some disbelief, and White Ded turns up wishing you guys an early Christmas. Presents are still on hold until then though. He also accompanied by Shirou's Evils, and you can react by either recognizing Ded in shock, ask who he is, or be scandalized at how much skin he's showing. A has White greet you and asks if you've been good. He hardly sees anyone outside of the school, but he's always watching. B has White laugh as he introduces himself, then says he knows about you and is always watching. C has White be surprised before asking if you're referring to his outfit. He says he needed to fit with the midsummer day today, and he used to ride his sleigh midsummer once. That was a long time ago.
Anyways, Shirou asks White why his Evils are with him in surprise. White explains that they came to visit him, except he was already asleep by then. When he woke up he found them asleep next to his bag. He also explains that he found what they put inside his bag, which turns out to a big crayon picture of the sun. You then remember what Shirou was talking about the day before when you see the picture, and the game flashbacks to him wishing for some sun.
Shirou asks the Evils if they really went to Ded to get him some sunlight as a present. White says he understands what's happening now and says this is going to be trouble. He explains that the bag is meant to grant the wishes of good children, but he doesn't remember any time where someone put their wish into it. He thinks that's probably why things have happened, and then he asks what you guys think when you look at the sky outside. You either don't think much of it and say it's clear out, or you realize something to your consternation. A and B has White prompting you guys to check the time then. Ryouta notes that it's 5:27 pm before freaking out that the sun should've set already and ruin people's lives.
White tells you guys that the sun is showing no signs of setting since that morning, and narration switches the camera over to Edogawa Ward where Andvari's resort is, next to Kasai Coastal Park. Andvari is baffled by this turn of events since it's supposed to be Christmas time. He talks about how he'll need to reorder event clothes and contact so many other people and do stuff, but eventually he cackles to himself about how he's going to make so much money you guys. The episode part then ends as the title card pops up, saying this is just called Prologue.
Thanks for the present! I look forward to more!
ReplyDeleteim surprised that wasn't black ded who appears in front of the gang as a little prank of him before switching to white.

ReplyDeleteI swear Shiro's Evils are getting cuter and cuter with every event they appear in. The idea of them drawing their wish for Shiro makes me smile, I kind of wish I could hug them.
