The party is about to set the ship to return to the surface when they notice a big shadow outside.
Hitomi: is that the OOParts the pirates were talking about?
Hydoor: it's too dark to see but Something is out there. Where are the headlights?
MC: uhh...night vision camera maybe?
The pirates have left a hastily scrawled set of instructions for you
Note (written by Purple): there was no manual so I'll just write down the important stuff. I-it's not like I wrote this for you guys or anything! PS: hey girlie I challenge you to a dance duel again next time
Akashi: I hate that I can tell who wrote this
Hitomi: t-that breakdancer? thank you!
MC: (activates external cameras)
Akashi: whoa there's a huge beat up looking building or something outside
Party: !?
Pubraseer: (knocks over nearby equipment and falls into a seat) I...I know what this is...but...oh, my head...!
Hitomi: P-Pubraseer--ahh, something's out there!
The ship shakes from an impact
Akashi: this isn't natural! MC, can you check!?
MC: one sec...!
A large shark-like shadow is attacking the ship
MC: is that a shark? Wait...no...?
The shark thing has glowing eyes, has a familiar mouth shape, and gives off familiar vibes
MC: It's a Monster!
Akashi: what!? down here!? wait never mind, we gotta go!
Hydoor: it's attacking the ship's shields. Get us outta here! The shields can't have been Monster proofed, it won't hold out!
MC: where are those emergency evasion instructions!?
Purple's Ship Controls for Dummies By Dummies: you can move the ship by jacking your phone in and entering commands that way. If you gotta go fast, turn on the Boost Controller! Also the external shield has been powered up. As if a Monster would attack you guys down here!
MC: FOUND IT (starts entering new coordinates into a panel through the phone)
(Ship rumbles)
Hitomi: oh no! What should we do?!
MC: okay, new location set! Head for the bridge!
Party stumbles out and deals with the ship shaking
Pubraseer: ...I know what that is. I...have to remember... (stares at building outside and at the shark Monster as the dust it kicks up shines like stars in the ship's lights)
Akashi: Pubraseer, we gotta go to the bridge! ...Pubraseer?
Pubraseer: (partly reminded of the stars he used to see in space with his old friends) m-my head!
Pubraseer: SPACE (passes out)
Akashi: wait what!? Hydoor, MC, Pubraseer fainted! (picks him up)
Hydoor: what!? (checks) he's still breathing. okay whatever, we gotta carry him
Akashi: right! Pubraseer what happened?
Hitomi: I'll take point! MC, navigate please!
MC: I have the ship's map so I can do that! Pubraseer, hang in there!
Pubraseer: ...
In the hallway
Monsters: SCREEEE
Hitomi: oh no there's so many of them!
Hydoor: ugh we don't have time for this shit! MC, transform us!
MC: oh dammit (click)
Akashi: MC, take care of Pubraseer. And are these monsters trying to stall us? Damn them!
Hydoor: GET BENT
Hitomi: Get ready guys! I'll protect Pubraseer and this ship!
BATTLE START (more happens afterwards)
One day, back on Muirauqa IV, there was an astronaut who conducted research alongside his subordinates. He talks about it being the last day they're going to be there on the planet, so he asks that everyone wrap up their work soon. He also asks Tinbanos if he knows where Ellipe and Kahoni are, so Tinbanos answers Captain Pubraseer by telling him they haven't returned to the ship yet. Darumaki jokes that the two of them are just 'deepening their relationship' somewhere, only for Hyrosh to laconically note they've returned.
Ellipe walks in complaining about how hardheaded Kahoni is and suggests he could stand to loosen up, but Kahoni fires back that Ellipe is always slacking off and demands he show more respect to his senpai. Pubraseer sighs and asks why they're fighting this time. Kahoni is noted to be the team astronomer while Ellipe is the geology and physical geography specialist, and the two sometimes fight. It happens a lot, probably because they know their own areas well enough that they won't budge on certain things. And when it happens, it's Pubraseer's job to mediate.
Pubraseer reminds Ellipe and Kahoni it's the last day of their research stay and asks if their argument is more important than their research work. Ellipe sheepishly apologizes, and Kahoni apologizes for taking part of the argument. Pubraseer tells them it's a good thing they're so into their work, but he warns them not to get too into their stuff. They're there to study unknown tech, which is why they came down to Muirauqa IV.
Darumaki walks up happily now that things have calmed down and agrees with Pubraseer, then suggests they all hit up a hot spring when they go home. Ellipe laughs after a moment to joke how Darumaki just wants to go visit a hot spring. Darumaki is the team's spacecraft mechanic, but he's so good at communicating that he's the one who talks with natives to gather information. He's a reassuring presence since he helps defuse tensions. Hyrosh speaks up to say he's finished with the lab and will be going on ahead. Tinbanos shyly says he'll go too and asks to go with Hyrosh. Tinbanos may seem shy and timid, but he's a lot more confident if he talks about analytical chemistry. Hyrosh is noted to be a language expert, and while he is laconic he's the team's rising star rookie.
Everyone is a reliable team member in Pubraseer's eyes, and it's because he's with them that he's been able to come so far from his home planet. Maybe he can go even further and do even more research with them. He can't really put it well into words, but they're his friends and pride. But back to the flashback, Pubraseer notes that everyone is accounted for and asks if everyone has all their stuff. It'll be years before they might come back. Darumaki sighs about having to pass on going to a hot spring on the planet, then says the place is great. Tinbanos says he's fine, though he personally wished he could have gotten some soil samples. Hyrosh just says he's fine.
Pubraseer prompts his team to show some thanks to the planet for giving them so many results for their research, and he thinks about the people waiting for them to come back. Darumaki then starts talking about how cool their facilities are, having never expected their spaceship's warehouse to be put undersea. It makes sense though since there'd be a lot of space and wouldn't crowd their launch site. Ellipe asks if seeing stuff like this interests him as a mechanic, so Darumaki asserts that it does, comparing it to everyone else finding new unknown words or materials. Ellipe excitedly says he understands, and Hyrosh agrees.
Ellipe changes the subject to ask Hyrosh about the necklace he's wearing, wondering if it's a present from someone. Hyrosh answers that it's a recorder for his linguistics studies. Ellipe finds it interesting and asks to borrow it, wondering if his research data is still in it. Hyrosh says he's already taken that out, so now the thing is empty. Ellipe smirks as an idea comes to him, which he whispers to Hyrosh. He suggests that the crew secretly put in a message in it and give it to Pubraseer when they return, hoping to overwhelm him with emotion. Hyrosh actually agrees with the idea, so Ellipe decides to start off by thanking Pubraseer for all he's done for them. He thinks he's cool and admits he's always admired him. Darumaki notices Ellipe playing around and asks to join in, and Pubraseer prompts everyone to get seated to leave the ocean storage house.
Pubraseer talks about remembering this point in time clearly now, how their ship was leaving the storage unit to go to their launch site to leave the planet. They were still underwater, at which point an impact rocks the ship and alarming Pubraseer. The ship's PA system announces that three sections of the ship's hull took critical damage, so the crew must block off those sections as soon as possible and prioritize their safety. Pubraseer is shocked at this and asks why that happened. Ellipe says he doesn't know but tries to say the shaking wasn't normal when another impact strikes. Pubraseer lends Ellipe a hand to get back up and orders him to inform the rest of the crew to meet in the control area and to help anyone hurt.
Given Pubraseer's ship's position, there was nowhere to run, so the first order of business was to figure out what was actually happening. When the crew reaches the monitor room, Pubraseer orders Darumaki to turn on the camera to find out what's outside. Darumaki says he is, though he curses the fact that about half the ship has been torn to pieces by this point. Kahoni volunteers to shutter off the damaged areas and asks Tinbanos and Hyrosh to help him. They quickly agree, and the three run off to keep the ship from getting flooded.
Pubraseer asks Ellipe if he's fine, noting that when he feel earlier he seemed to hurt his leg. Ellipe is definitely injured, but he claims to be okay and still able to move, and he suggests locking the ship down is more important. Pubraseer relents but still offers to shoulder him around and asks him to tell him what he knows once he figures the situation out. Darumaki answers affirmatively and asks Pubraseer to take care of other things.
When Pubraseer gets into the hallways, he notes that the impacts have stopped, though he can't let his guard down yet. Ellipe plays it casual and says it'll be fine, they've jumped over every other hurdle that came their way so far. Pubraseer is about to contradict the point before rethinking it and agreeing, saying he needs to hold it together in times like this. Ellipe encourages him, saying their work is only just beginning, then reporting that he's done sealing off the area he was working.
Ellipe is about to say something else to Pubraseer when part of the area everyone present is in gets torn to shreds by fangs, and Pubraseer gets caught in the danger zone. Ellipe yells out to him in concern, asking if he's okay but then telling him to not move when he sees the damage. Pubraseer's arm is damaged, and despite the pain he focuses enough to say the sealing isn't done yet before falling over. Tinbanos panics at this as he comes to investigate with Kahoni, so Kahoni directs him to grab a medkit. Ellipe tells Kahoni to carry Pubraseer further into the ship, but Kahoni worries for Ellipe himself and tells him to come too.
Ellipe says after a moment that he'll lock the area down and urges Kahoni to hurry. Pubraseer tries to protest this, and Ellipe stops for a moment to turn to look at him with a kind light in his eyes. He plays brave and jokes that he'd never die here, then says he'll be with them soon after locking the section down against the hull breach. Pubraseer still attempts to countermand him and order him to come, so Ellipe tells him he was glad to travel with him before turning to Kahoni and telling him to take care of Pubraseer. Kahoni can't bring himself to say anything, so he closes his eyes and nods before carrying Pubraseer away. Ellipe laughs to himself in self-deprecation, wondering if he was too corny there. He finishes the lockdown, then wonders if Kahoni thought he really did look cool in his last moments.
Scene then shifts to Pubraseer's end, where he attempts to get Kahoni to stop and go back for Ellipe while suffering through the pain done to him. Kahoni however argues against it, saying for all his disagreements with him, he's a great crew member that gets things done when the chips are down and telling Pubraseer to believe in him. Tinbanos comes up at this point with a medkit, but by the time he passes it over the PA system announces that the signal to the B2 section of the ship is now lost and says all crew members should evacuate.
Pubraseer gets alarmed at the system message since Section B2 is where Ellipe was. However, Tinbanos and Kahoni look surprised as they give Pubraseer some first aid, asking who Ellipe is supposed to be. Pubraseer is shocked at the question, and Kahoni tries to get him to calm down and say he needs to be tended to quickly since the area is in danger. Far as they know, it was *Pubraseer* who locked the section down as opposed to anyone else. And now that Pubraseer's bleeding has been staunched, Kahoni says it's time to go. Pubraseer still attempts to protest, yelling Ellipe's name in despair as Kahoni and Tinbanos drag him away.
Once the rest of the crew assembles in the control area, Darumaki is looking sternly at the monitors while tapping away at the keyboard. He tells Pubraseer he's finally gotten a visual as to what's happening, and it turns out that the ship is being attacked by some sort of fiend. He points to a monitor showing a giant shark thing body slamming the ship and tearing chunks off with its teeth. Pubraseer is surprised and questions if it's even an animal, but he doubles over in pain.
Hyrosh asks if he's okay since he's lost a lot of blood. Pubraseer claims it's not too bad, but Darumaki tells him not to push himself. It sure is fortunate that Pubraseer is the only one who took damage and that "nobody died." Pubraseer is breathing hard, upset that no one remembers Ellipe as he says Ellipe was the reason he managed to get away. Everyone else however look like Pubraseer is talking about some stranger they've never heard of before. Darumaki tries to suggest it's blood loss induced confusion, saying Pubraseer should lie down and feel a bit better.
Pubraseer is saddened as he tries to ask why everyone forgot Ellipe. He's confused and terrified about the fact that only he still remembers him, but his mind is clear enough to think about how he can't throw his life away now that Ellipe saved him. Pubraseer starts addressing the crew about the danger they're in, and he thinks about how to escape the ship even with his consciousness hanging by a thread. Since they can't stop the beast's attacks and are at the bottom of the sea, their options are limited. There's still something they could do though.
The crew starts thinking on this, though a heavy impact interrupts them. Kahoni floats the idea of sending camouflaged crew members to repair the ship to a movable condition, but dismisses it as too risky. Darumaki adds that they wouldn't be able to last outside for long, The ship would sink before enough repairs could be done. Tinbanos brings up the emergency escape pods, but Kahoni says they were in Section B2, which got destroyed. Hyrosh suggests putting out a distress signal to call for help, but Darumaki says their system for it is different. There probably isn't any ship around capable of receiving the distress signal either.
Pubraseer brings up that there's a cold sleep pod in this part of the ship they could use, but he can't bring himself to say anymore about it as he thinks on it. It was put on board for long range travel, allowing temporary secure shelter for whoever is put in based on its set security level. It's capable of preserving whoever is in it for hundreds of years even if it doesn't have a power supply from the ship anymore. Unfortunately, there is only the one since the rest is in the storage area beyond the destroyed part of Section B2.
Pubraseer attempts to figure out a way to save everyone left as per his responsibility as ship captain, finding himself powerless. He questions what he can even do for his friends, and Darumaki speaks up to say the cold sleep machine is a good idea since at least someone can be saved. Pubraseer is close to blacking out, but Darumaki's words wakes him up enough to think he needs to make sure someone gets out alive. He tries to ask Darumaki to get it working, though his blood loss starts catching up to him at this point. He is unable to move, and the rest of the crew looks at each other as they come to an agreement.
Hyrosh is the first to speak, noting that everyone seems to be on the same page. Darumaki is impressed that he could understand everyone without needing to speak. Tinbanos says he feels the same way and wants to save him. Kahoni sighs good-naturedly about how things are tough on the crew members when the captain needs looking after. The four of them gently pick Pubraseer up, who is still conscious enough to realize what they're doing and attempts to object.
Darumaki tells Pubraseer to not get too worked up, or else he tear his cuts open again. Pubraseer tightens his grasp on Darumaki's arm with the last of his strength, and his hand is noted to still be warm. Pubraseer tries to argue against being the one saved since he's the one without an actual research specialty and not the one who deserves to survive the most. Darumaki is silent for a second before thanking him and calling him kind, saying they were all happy to spend all that time with him. Darumaki even gets Pubraseer a gentle headbutt, and that is the last thing he's awake for before passing out.
Kahoni wonders what Pubraseer was talking about earlier, so Tinbanos says he's always a serious person who never cracks jokes. Hyrosh says there isn't enough info to tell. Darumaki says Pubraseer is always thinking about other people, though that is what's great about him. Kahoni notes that Pubraseer was the one keeping the team together despite them all doing their own things normally, and the four gently pull Pubraseer up and lay him inside the cold sleep machine.
Tinbanos speaks up that Pubraseer might be sad to be left alone, and Kahoni says he'd probably be mad they all ignored his commands here. He suggests giving him some sort of apology he'd find when he wakes up, so Darumaki laughs and says even Pubraseer would cry if he found something like that. Kahoni says he's their captain after all, and if Pubraseer didn't get depressed over them he'd never be able to pass on to the next life. Tinbanos notes that they don't have any way of preserving paper or data, so he's not sure how they'd do that.
Hyrosh remembers his recorder necklace and unhooks it from himself, telling the crew about it and explaining it can only hold audio data. Darumaki laughs after a moment and says it's good enough, feeling sure that Pubraseer would never forget their voices. Tinbanos agrees after a moment, saying he wants Pubraseer to remember him too. Hyrosh nods and says words can last forever. Kahoni says they should hurry then, then asks to borrow the necklace to go first.
The ship rattles again audibly groaning from the stress, but no one moves. Everyone starts recording their message, not in a common language, but in their native tongues. Kahoni apologizes for all the trouble he's caused, but he's glad to have met Pubraseer. It's sad he couldn't say all this to him face to face, but he expresses his gratitude to him. He also apologizes for how they put him to sleep and left him on his own, and he asks if Pubraseer will miss them. Tinbanos goes next saying he wanted to research more with Pubraseer, then thanks him for looking after him during the whole trip. Darumaki goes third, saying they'll have to move on first, but Pubraseer can take his time to join them. He says he'll take care of everyone, then warns Pubraseer against following them out of loneliness. Hyrosh goes last, admitting that for someone who studied languages he can't think of much to say. He still has 'thank you' and 'I love you' though.
The group then makes a shared message about how they're all proud of Pubraseer. The rest of the message gets delayed as narration notes that the hull damage seems to have reached critical levels by this point. The ringing alert sirens has stopped, and water is starting to seep into the control room. Hyrosh declares the recording complete and puts the necklace into the sleep capsule, wrapping it around Pubraseer's neck. Darumaki prompts the crew to pay their last respects to him and thanks Pubraseer one last time. And while they have put him into the machine, it's impossible to deny the possibility that Pubraseer's survival prospects are grim. Could it slip past the shark creature and safely reach the ocean's surface? Could he survive the hibernation with his injuries?
Everyone is aware of how risky this decision is, and Kahoni says that this isn't too bad. He brings up that he always fought with...someone he can't remember now, but he's sure they're also praying for Pubraseer. Hoping for the best is all they can do now, so they put their hearts into it. The capsule is activated, protecting Pubraseer with a shield as the inside darkens due to the sudden temperature drop. They wish for their carefree captain, who's kinder and stronger than anyone, to make it out alive. And if possible, they hope that he'll always remember them.
The shark monster continues ravaging the ship. Windows break, and cold sea water floods the interior. No one says a thing, but they salute as one before picking the capsule up. They force the broken door to open and head to where the water is coming in so that they can send Pubraseer away. Objects fall, machinery whines, and the lights fall dark, yet still no one speaks. All they do is mourn their parting with Pubraseer and continue to hope. "Captain Pubraseer. You are the pride of all us crew members. So...please..."
