Ikebukuro Christmas Concerto Episode 5 Part 2

Things pick up with Andvari saying the last checkpoint being the place where you get the ability to go to the sky. He refers to it as Ded’s divine protection, and after getting it’s straight to the last stage in an aerial battle.

Scene then switches to Shinjuku High, which I must say looks pretty fancy. Anyways, the gang is in front of the dorms as Ryouta worries about you having heard of the accident. Shirou is on the phone and relieved to get the message that you’re aright, which he then relays to everyone else.

Everyone cheers over the news. Kengo says he knew you’d be fine and says you’re tough. Ryouta was shocked when he first heard of the accident, but he’s glad now. Touji tries to play it cool and sighs over how you make people worry, but Kengo hassles him over how nervously he was gripping his swords. Touji is thrown off balance and tells Kengo to stuff it.

Agyou is happy you’re fine, then says he wasn’t crying as he sniffles. Moritaka says you’ll be there soon, and Hanuman says he wants to see you quickly. Kengo tells Shirou to let it out since he looked like he was going to cry, and Shirou protests that he has a great poker face. But he is glad you’re okay because it wouldn’t be Christmas if something bad happened.

Touji says the guys need to get ready soon and asks Ryouta to come with him. Ryouta agrees and says he’s excited. Around that time they hear the rumbling of something moving at high speed coming. Hanuman says it can’t be your team, especially given the ranking order.

Kengo calls it a warm up, which Shirou agrees with as he orders everyone to their positions. Out front is Team Claude, who comments on familiar faces showing up at the last checkpoint. Yule is surprised to see the gang there and asks if they’re the obstacles for the point.

Claude tells him not to be as he considers them among the strong of Shinjuku. He also declares that his team is going to push forward past them and apologizes for making things quick. Snow says they’ll win, and Nomad says as much as well. Nomad also says that if he loses to the team, his own business is going to suffer. Yule gets ready to fight too.

Kengo tells them to bring it, and everyone gets ready to go. At that point Team Krampus comes in, and Bathym and Garm make their entrance saying they’re back and getting through this. Bathym also tells Claude he won’t be handing over the top spot.

Ikutoshi says things will be fine if they make a comeback here, and Krampus makes a taunt about friends yesterday, opponents now. Ryouta is surprised they showed up and that Krampus has gone into Black Santa mode. He wonders if he can talk any of them into leaving, but Touji tells him it’ll be fine and he can just do his own work.

Shirou tells them to not stick out too much, never mind Kengo. Kengo is ticked by this but he sets that aside to attack first. Everyone starts battling in response and sparks fly around the school grounds.

Your team shows up some amount of time after, and you either comment on the noise, that you made it in time, or comment on what you see. Kengo uses his CS which pushes Bathym back and prompts him to compliment on Kengo’s moves getting sharper. Kengo says he’s made through his share of battlefields and that he’s not who he was before.

Snow makes the same observation on Kengo’s abilities as he sneaks in from behind and tries to karate chop the back of his head. Ryouta intervenes by using the grail to create a marshmallow wall to block the attack. The game says it’s made from the best meringue, and Ryouta boasts about how he can make more than pudding with his artifact. He actually got advice from Shirou and Chouji about how to make the marshmallows.

Snow says it is a pretty good marshmallow, but he also says Ryouta normally shouldn’t be able to keep up with him in terms of speed so he asks how he did it so fast. Shirou stays quiet, but Snow figures this to mean he was anticipated instead of reacted to.

Shirou explains that he figured the teams could never be able to ignore Kengo. If he were to go down first, the gang’s formation goes with him. Ikutoshi tries to ambush Shirou as a matter of tactics, which he didn’t predict. Ikutoshi activates his power and attacks, but Touji defends Shirou.

Touji says the guys may not stand out much yet, but things are different with him there. Nomad says they’re doing good, but they don’t have enough experience yet as he flips on his NP to attack. Hanuman responds with his ninja doppelgänger trick to match the speed boost, and Nomad seems really pissed about you guys having a monkey for some reason. That, and the fact you guys had another trick up your sleeves.

Bathym applauds the guys’ showing but says he’s getting fired up, then asks if that’s all they have. Garm sniffs and says there’s still someone there and that he recognizes the scent. Bathym dodges an attack made where he was standing made by Moritaka and Agyou, who say they have to beat them to get to the checkpoint.

Moritaka and Agyou make a dramatic announcement about their entry into battle, and Hanuman complains about being left out of it. Everyone in the gang  is brimming with drive, and you either ask in shock when this happened, say they’re being really cool, or ask if they were doing special training.

Kengo notices you’re there and is about to ask what you think of their handiwork, but Shirou shoves him aside partway through to yell and ask if you’re okay. Ryouta waves and says he’s relieved to see you’re fine. Touji sighs over them since the battle is still ongoing, but he still spares a moment to say he’s glad you’re okay. You ask if they were working as obstacle runners the whole time.

Shirou confirms that and apologizes for keeping quiet about it. He says ever since you were invited to the race and drew your lot, they’ve been thinking about how all of them are still inexperienced and how your workload has been increasing. Kengo picks up and says they wanted to show you their teamwork, and Ryouta says they managed to make it happen.

Touji says everyone was worried about you, so they decided to make use of the opportunity. Agyou says being called it of the safehouse was a surprise, especially as he was sleeping. Moritaka says he’s never fought in a battle like this before but he was excited for the experience. Also for whatever reason he’s using Shino’s personal pronoun.

Hanuman says it’s a gathering of heroes of justice and that he’s super pumped about it. Ryouta says they wanted to show and tell you that they wanted to stand next to you as opposed to being protected by you. He apologizes for keeping quiet and says they’ll make it up to you. You thank them all.

Everyone in the gang smiles in response. But of course, you also challenge them to a battle with no holding back. Shirou says they won’t hold back either. Kengo has been looking forward to sparring with you and says you better not go easy on them.

Ryouta says he doesn’t like fighting, but he’ll do it so that he can stand by your side. Touji talks about how weapons can convey your feelings and that he wants you to accept his. Agyou says komainu need to be strong, so he’ll show you how much he’s gotten better.

Hanuman says versus battles are needed every once in a while and challenges you to a serious fight. Moritaka asks if you’re ready and says to put ‘em up.

Bathym comments on the big group outpouring and says it’s mean to ignore the rest of them. Then he says it’s time to continue the dead heat. Nomad says this is work and he’ll take any opening he sees. Narration talks about how there are no grudges or anger being passed around, but sincere emotions.

Claude then says it’s about time to start the battle of the strong, and you let out your own challenge as the episode battle begins. Things continue after.

After the battle, the story picks up midway as weapons clash and blows are exchanged. Snow and Kengo are facing off, with Kengo saying he can keep going when Snow asks if he’s tiring out.

Tanngrisnir is shocked and asks for people to wait. Kengo is weirded out and asks why Tanngrisnir is staring at him, so Tanngrisnir introduces himself and asks for Kengo’s name. Kengo complains about Tanngrisnir interrupting a good fight but tells him after a moment.

Kengo also claims to be the strongest in the guild, prompting Touji to say from elsewhere he feels like he’s heard something he can’t let sit unchecked. Tanngrisnir makes a comment about him being a different person, but then says even if the vessel were different, his way of life as persistent, rough, and with a dumb manner of speech is exactly like Thor’s.

You can either say Kengo is amazing or try to get Tanngrisnir’s attention. He looks back at Kengo one more time before turning to you, then talks about how Thor stood as an equal to Freyr and how he understands, referring to them with the titles Roaring One and Shining One.

You ask Tanngrisnir why he’s looking at your face or ask if something is happening ‘again.’ Tanngrisnir waves it off saying you don’t need to mind that, saying he’s just getting excited. Then he says he’ll sprint in a way that’ll make Thor proud. If he were told he was worse than a boar he’d be ashamed as a goat.

Kengo interprets this to mean Tanngrisnir is calling him a boar and gets offended. You can either tell him he doesn’t mean it like that, say boars are cool, or choose to say no comment. Tanngrisnir calls for thunder, and Kengo says he doesn’t understand what’s happening, but he’ll take on challenges anytime.

Bathym is squaring off against Touji and compliments his swordsmanship, saying the sharp pursing attacks and vulgar strikes excite him. Touji gets reminded of Hougen, then says he won’t lose because he’s used to fighting against opponents who don’t give him any openings.

Nomad attempts to use his NP to break past, but Shirou notices this and tells Ryouta to use the domino plan. Ryouta activates his artifact to create giant wafer dominos that start falling toward Nomad and stop his movements.

Nomad is in disbelief about this working, and Shirou starts talking about the effects of Nomad’s artifact and figures he needs to accelerate and some distance to make it work, so putting up obstacles should interrupt it. Nomad says he never thought he’d be so pissed about sweets being used to stop him.

Garm is fighting against Agyou and gets a hit in. Agyou refuses to let him pass and cries, which makes Garm feel bad and hesitant to keep attacking. Meanwhile Moritaka is dodging Ikutoshi’s attacks, who complains about having a hard time despite that he shouldn’t be struggling so much against Moritaka’s sword and skills.

Moritaka says at the end of the day, an artifact’s power is an aid to your own power, so true power comes from training. Hanuman is using his body doubles over and over and even pulls out his water guns and swimsuit despite it being winter, then soaks Pollux. Pollux complains about the cold.

The whole gang is putting up a good fight, and Kengo calls it their Christmas present to you. He asks what you think of it. Shirou says he’s not sure this is the right way to show you that they all want to protect you though. Ryouta says they always want to be with you, so they have to show you their strength.

Touji says he thinks there could have been a different way, but he wanted to get his feelings across. Agyou says even he knows they’re unskilled, and Moritaka finishes the sentence saying it’s true that everyone wants to protect you. Hanuman says you can relax and that they want you to depend on them.

You can either say they’re amazing, thank them, or say you love them. Going with B Tanngrisnir says you’ve been blessed with great encounters and that their determination has been conveyed. You say that because of that that you’ll push through full force. He says he thought you’d say that and suggests breaking through.

Melusine pulls out some guns and Pollux’s fists glow in response. Your entire team moves, and all three teams attack the gang. It doesn’t take much longer to break through, but still no one has expected there to be so much of a fight.

Kengo says they were so close to winning as they watch you all leave some time later. Shirou says they still have some work to do, but they’ve done good. Ryouta says he’s hungry and says they should get to the party area.

Touji compares to the sleighs’ trails to the Milky Way. Hanuman is amazed by the light show, and Agyou agrees as he starts nodding off. Moritaka says they should rest first before heading out. And as you ride out, the gang cheers for you and says they’ll see you again.

Camera shifts to your side as the sleigh starts slanting up like it’s on an invisible hill. You look at the other two teams, and the differences between everyone are becoming clear. Team Claude is still going strong, but Team Krampus is starting to slow down. You wonder if Garm is getting tired and if he’s okay.

Pollux comments to the same effect, and Tanngrisnir says Team Claude will probably make a last spurt of speed near the end. Pollux says if that happens, you’ll never catch up. You ask if anything can be done.

Pollux says that in the sky he could do something, as he’s done similarly in Olympus. He can’t reach his old top speed by himself though. He needs someone to compensate half his body length in lock step with him, or wings that could fly high in the sky. Either or both would be needed to get it to work.

Melusine goes quiet, then asks about something he said earlier, specifically the bit about the wings being needed for top speed. He says that if Castor were here he could go to the furthest reaches of the sky. Otherwise he’ll need to borrow someone’s legs or feet.

Melusine then asks if Tanngrisnir can read the movements of the other teams. He says he can tell when they’ll make their last sprint and asks what she plans to do. She says she has a plan but has something to do first.

Melusine then turns to you and asks what you think of her. You can either say a wonderful maid, someone dependable, or someone you love. Going with B she thanks you and says she’ll keep those words in her heart. She then talks about how Licht recognizes you and how she serves Licht, so she’s decided what she’ll do.

Narration says Team Claude is steadily drawing farther away. Tanngrisnir says they’ll make a break for it soon and asks if Melusine wants a signal. She says yes and asks Pollux to match her movements, who agrees.

You watch Team Claude, and then both Claude and Tanngrisnir raise the signal. Pollux and Melusine activate their powers at the same time, and Melusine says she’s showing her true form, asking you not to look. Both Melusine and Pollux yell, and you guys speed up faster than you ever imagined.

Tanngrisnir asks about this, and Melusine says it was something she kept away and thought she’d die before ever using again. She asks you to not to keep how she looks now in your mind, saying she’s doing this for your victory and for Licht’s victory.

She’s ashamed of it, but she won’t hesitate to use its power. She says before she was always afraid of using this power, but because of that she can help you all. Pollux compliments her, which she thanks him for. She also reminds him that this is a race.

Pollux says he understands, then calls out to Team Krampus. You say either you guys are winning, or that they lost. They’re shocked that you passed them in a flash. Bathym says they’ve lost, and Garm says he can’t keep it up anymore. Ikutoshi says he can stop since him managing to chase after you guys would be a miracle. Krampus sadly compares you guys to heroes.

Krampus then yells out that you guys better win, accepting his loss. Garm cheers for you and says he’ll win next time. Ikutoshi is frustrated and says he’ll rematch you next time and tells you to take first place. Bathym cheers for you saying he saw your cool points.

Solomon pops up after some quick narration about the final battle happening. He narrates about it being the home stretch and asks who will take first place. He has faith that you’ll win it, then ends the episode.
